Chapter Text

This can’t be good.

Katsuki turned, still scrubbing at the dirty dishes as he eyed the scene unfolding in the living room. Mitsuki’s arm was wrapped around Deku and, in her own affectionate way, ruffled the mop of green curls the man somehow hadn’t grown out of.

Katsuki shook his head and muttered under his breath. “We’re not kids anymore, Old Hag. We’re 24.”

The blush on Deku’s face was evident, even from halfway across Katsuki’s childhood home. A smile worked its way across his face as he watched his boyfriend sputter and respond in wild, unruly gestures.

“Katsuki?”

His attention shifted as Inko Midoriya appeared at his side. She grabbed the next dish and started rinsing it in the sink. “Let me help.”

Not one to argue with Auntie Inko, Katsuki continued the task as they waited for dinner to finish baking in the oven. Even though the deep, rich smell of the roast filled the kitchen, Katsuki could still make out the calming vanilla scent of Inko. The remaining tension in his shoulders melted away; a natural effect of one omega bonding with another. The two existed within a peaceful silence until Inko spoke again, her soft and delicate voice a welcome change from the abrasive one of his own mother.

“You know, I was really happy when you and Izuku decided to open the agency together. Because he presented so late, I got used to worrying about him. Even though he’s an alpha, I just get so scared that something will happen. But I feel much better knowing that he has you.”

Katsuki heard the quiver in Inko’s voice. He kept his head forward, focused on the task at hand.

“I’m glad you two make time to come and see us. I know you’re both busy. The Wonder Duo doesn’t get much time for family anymore.”

“Yeah, well,” Katsuki blushed. “If I’m forced to take two fu- freaking weeks off for what ended up being a 4-day heat, we might as well take advantage of the time off.”

“That seems pretty quick, dear. Are you sure-?”

Katsuki understood the implication of Inko’s question, but he quickly dismissed the possibility.

“I’m sure. My heats are short, it’s just that the Commission mandates a 2-week leave policy. Plus, uh, that , doesn’t seem like a great idea right now.”

He won’t even ask me to marry him. Having a kid would only force him to be tied down.

“Katsuki, honey.” Inko dried her hands and placed a gentle touch on his shoulder. “It’ll all work out in time.”

The oven timer buzzed and Inko jumped, grabbing for the large, fluffy oven mitts. Katsuiki’s eyes ached, a dull twinge appearing as he watched Inko scuttle over toward the food.

As Inko pulled out the roast, Katsuki reached up to wipe a single tear that formed in the corner of his eye.

Hmm. Weird.

Inko and Katsuki finished setting the table and prepared the spread while Masaru herded Izuku and Mitsuki into the dining area. The five of them sat around the Bakugou’s dinner table, each getting their fill of the enormous homemade meal. As usual, Mitsuki and Katsuki doused the perfectly seasoned food with hot sauce and red pepper. With full plates, the two families fall into an easy conversation.

“You eat like you’re starving, Izuku. Doesn’t the brat feed you properly?”

“Oh.” Izuku’s mouth opened and closed several times as he searched for words. “O-of course! K-Kacchan takes great care of me. He cooks dinner for us all the time. And packs our lunches. Kacchan’s really focused on our health.”

Katsuki ignored the way he blushed, instead focusing on adding more heat to his meal.

“Mitsuki, remember when the boys set the kitchen on fire the first time they tried to make ramen?”

Masaru spoke up, putting a hand on his wife’s shoulder. “I was worried Mitsuki was going to lose it.”

With an expression that Katsuki would never admit he makes himself, she shouted at the boys as she pointed at them with her chopsticks. “And these two tried to blame it on Katsuki’s quirk, like that would make it any better!”

Izuku laughed, the tone low and full-bodied. Sometimes, Katsuki would forget that he had grown so much after presenting as an alpha in their second year. He leaned closer as Izuku released a relaxed, calming scent.

“Yeah, yeah. I learned though, didn’t I?”

Inko decided to run full force down memory lane, bringing up more stories from Katsuki and Izuku’s childhood. “And remember how poor Izuku would sweat and turn red because he didn’t want to tell Katsuki the food was too spicy?”

The conversation flowed easily. Though the stories and banter were light-hearted, Katsuki’s stomach churned. While he knew he was hungry, especially staring at his favorite spicy curry, he couldn’t bring himself to eat. His chest ached as the spice came back up, burning the back of his throat. Any thought of food brought a wave of nausea over the omega.

Once the meal ended, Izuku helped gather the plates and dishes as they cleared the table. He raised a concerned brow as he noticed the barely-touched meal.

“Kacchan?”

“Hm?”

Katsuki relaxed into the touch as Izuku came up behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist. “You hardly ate. Are you okay? Was it not spicy enough?”

“Of course it was spicy, nerd. I made it. I’m just- I think I ate something bad earlier.”

Izuku let out a hum of understanding that reverberated through his chest, though Katsuki knew Izuku wouldn’t be so easily convinced. “Want to go home, Kacchan?”

Katsuki gave a soft smile. “Nah, I’m okay.”

“Okay, okay. But if you’re not feeling well, let me take care of you.” Before stepping away, Izuku planted a kiss on Katsuki’s temple. “It’s my job as your boyfriend. And I take that job very seriously”

Katsuki felt a strange tug within his chest. Yeah. A job.

The two finished up at the Bakugou’s home and headed back to their shared apartment. The ride was shared mostly in a comfortable silence as they held hands on the middle console. Once inside, Izuku hooked the keys on the keyring and placed the leftovers in the fridge. Green curls popped over the open refrigerator door and emerald eyes caught Katsuki’s attention.

“Oh, Kacchan!”

He padded over towards the kitchen. “Oh, Deku!”

Izuku only smiled at the sarcasm; something he had become accustomed to after the last four years of dating. “We need to do the advent calendar that Kaminari and Shinsou got us!”

“Do we, though?”

“Oh come on, Kacchan! It looks really cute and it’s unique! Kaminari got it just for us.”

“Ugh.” With a heavy reluctance, Katsuki joined Izuku in front of the Unofficial Wonder Duo Advent Calendar.

Bouncing on his heels in excitement, Izuku pressed his thumb against the small cardboard square. With a quick pop , he punctured the outside, revealing the ‘very special Wonder Duo unofficial merch’ Kaminari had promised.

“Eep!” The high pitched sound was awkward coming from such a large alphan hero, but Katsuki found it endearing.

“Oh, this has got to be good.” He peered at the small paper in Izuku’s palm with a curious smirk.

Katsuki snatched the item, a sticker, and held it between two fingers. A loud, cackling laugh escaped Katsuki as he looked at the image of the beloved alpha in a skimpy, Ground Zero themed lingerie set.

“Is this that fan fiction shit he wouldn’t shut up about? This is fucking perfect. I never thought DunceFace would have a good idea, but here we are.”

With the blush across his face, Izuku’s freckles were more prominent than usual. Izuku glared at Katsuki and pouted. “You know, Kacchan, if they have things like this of me I’m sure they’ll have things like this of you .”

“Tch, as they should. I’m hot as fuck.”

Izuku bit his lip, trying to hide his smile. He stepped towards Katsuki, looking down at him with a hungry gaze. “You’re not wrong.”

Katsuki’s breath hitched as strong arms wrapped around his waist and picked him up with ease. He hooked his legs around Izuku’s torso just as their lips crashed together. The earthy, pine scent of Izuku’s pheromones filled the air, mixing with Katsuki’s own smoky caramel.

He savored the lewd grown from Izuku as he kissed at the glands on Izuku’s neck. “Bedroom?”

Before he even responded, Izuku started carrying Katsuki down the hallway. “Yeah. Bedroom.”

Katsuki returned from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist and his fluffy blond hair sticking in all directions. “Really, Deku?”

He found Izuku on the bed, splayed out in an awkward yet somehow sexy pose, holding a bundle of mistletoe over his head.

Shaking freshly-dried locks, Katsuki crawled onto the bed and joined Izuku, planting a chaste kiss on his lips. “Is this your way of asking for a round two?”

Katsuki’s heart clenched at Izuku’s blindingly white smile.

“Maybe.”

Izuku pressed Katsuki to the mattress. The omega’s hands held either side of Izuku’s jaw as he pulled his boyfriend into a passionate kiss. Before the make-out session could get too heated, Katsuki pulled away. As Izuku hovered over him, his freckles reminded him of looking at constellations in the night sky.

“I love you.”

Izuku nuzzled against Katsuki’s hair before laying on his side next to him, getting in a quick kiss to the forehead. “I love you too, Kacchan.”

Katsuki’s eyes grew tired as Izuku rubbed small circles against his lower back. He curled into the broad chest of his apha, his inner omega purring in satisfaction.

“What do you think about me hanging this above the bed?”

“You don’t need mistletoe to get me to kiss you.”

“Hmm, you’re right.”

Katsuki could practically hear the thoughts running through Izuku’s mind.

“Spit it out, nerd.”

“You sure you’re alright, Kacchan? You seem a little, I don’t know. Different.”

He rolled his eyes and squeezed Izuku tighter. “I’m fine. I promise. Now get some sleep, Deku. I’m tired.”

Izuku pulled the covers over their half-naked bodies, settling in close to his omega. Scarred hands caressed Katsuki’s head, running crooked fingers through his hair.

“Okay. Goodnight, Kacchan.”
