Work Text:

Nezu was having a fantastic day! The Hero Commission didn’t give him any paperwork to do, and no kids had acted up. But it wasn’t going to last. Today was the day he decided to look through the forms brought to him just over a week ago. Oh yes.

He had seen Yoku Aiko, a support student, approach the door. As per usual, he got up and opened it before she could knock.

“Hello Miss Yoku! How may I help you?” He asked politely.

“Hello Nezu-San. My classmate, Hatsume Mei, asked me to bring both of these to you. She said the one with neater handwriting was the real one, and the other was falsified by Midoriya-Kun’s Mentor..?” she seemed confused, and handed him two papers. He instantly knew they were the forms that students sent in if they got into the hero course.

“I will look through them as soon as I have the chance! Thank you very much Miss Yoku!”

Now the stoat (yes, he was a stoat) sat down at his desk and finally read through the forms. Well, time to speak with Allmight.

It was true, Nezu had originally been surprised when the boy who seemed to have endless amounts of anxiety wanted to go daylight, but he chalked it up to wanting to make people feel safe. He shouldn’t have. The principal may have a good hold on his emotions, but he was seething . He also called up Aizawa. As the child's homeroom teacher, he should know about this.

“Hello Yagi, Aizawa! How are you both?” Aizawa grunted, and Yagi said he was doing well. Not for long..

“Now, just over a week ago, a kind girl from the support course brought me something on behalf of Hatsume Mei. What she brought me were two forms, both with Midoriya Izuku’s name on them. The ones that students send in once they're confirmed to be in the Hero course.” the former symbol of peace paled slightly.

“One of these,” he grabbed them from his desk, “was falsified. The falsified one said he wanted to go limelight. The real one said he wanted to go underground. Now, that can mess psychologically with someone. Especially if they weren’t prepared to go limelight and were under the impression they would be underground. Yagi, you wouldn’t believe what Miss Yoku told me! She said, and I quote ‘and the other was falsified by Midoriya-Kun’s Mentor’. Now, last time I checked, you were his mentor Yagi! Would you mind explaining?”

The skeletal man stumbled over his words as he hurried to respond, “W-well you see! He must be th-the next s-symbol of pea-peace! He ca-can’t do that if he’s um...if he goes un-underground! You s-see! I di-did it in young M-Midoriya’s Be-best interest!”

Aizawa spoke up, sounding livid. “Yagi, you did it in your best interest. Not Midoriya’s. Now he could very well be stuck in the limelight position you dumbass.”

“Oh, he won’t be. You see, he also attached a note to the form stating that he and Hatsume are working on a new costume and a new Hero name! Now Yagi, I hope you understand that I’ll have to suspend your ability to teach for a while.” he said with a note of faux calmness before leaving to watch on the security cameras as Aizawa chewed him out.

“All Might, if you take one step near my student again, All for One will be the least of your worries.”

“Aizawa-kun! It was a simple misunderstanding! It’s for his own good! To get over one's issues, they must face them head on!”

“And you didn’t think maybe therapy or talking about it could work also? How dense are you?!”

“I understand your worries, but you are being biased because you yourself are an underground hero!”

“And you aren’t?”

“Why no, I am not!”

“Well, Why don’t I read the real form.”

“Go ahead.”

“...”

“What is it Aizawa-Kun?”

“The falsified form said his quirk came in when he was four.”

“Yes! That’s because it did!”

“The real one says he was fifteen.”

“Well I-”

“Save it. I thought my student was one of those kids who thinks quirks are everything, and I was wrong. I said that his quirk would make it nearly impossible to be a hero if he didn’t master it. If I had known he’d had it for less than a year at that point I would’ve helped him! I would’ve had him sit out! If I had known, I could've helped my student instead of hurting them, Yagi!”

“You must understand, you couldn’t have kept him from getting hurt!”

“I can erase his quirk, you blockhead! And even if I couldn’t have stopped him from getting hurt physically, I could’ve stopped myself from injuring him mentally and emotionally! Do you know how bad discrimination gets!? Most people without quirks don’t get past their second year of middle school! He’s lucky to be alive!”

“That’s not true, Young Midoriya would never give up!”

“You Fucking idiot! He looked at me and said ‘he wasn't useless’ and I thought he was just responding to what I had said about being a hero with that quirk! But I was wrong! He was telling me and himself that he wasn’t useless anymore because he had a quirk! Goddamn Yagi! We’re done with this. And remember, if you so much as look at Midoriya, I’ll make All for One seem like a kitten compared to me. Watch your back.”

Nezu smiled sadistically. Oh how fun punishing Yagi Toshinori would be!

Notes:

remember when I said Neito and Mei would be next? well I lied. It's set in between those two, and that is my excuse!
