"Rengoku Kyojuro," he says and finally, Tanjirou turns his head to look at him and the first thing that comes to his mind is... flames. Everything from his haori, to his beautiful hair and his eyes is like staring into a fireplace.
"I'm Kamado Tanjirou and this is Nezuko!" He grins, feeling more comfortable around him.
The girl moves on his lap and makes an attempt to grab Rengoku's yellow and red hair. Tanjirou stops her just in time.
***In which Nezuko is Tanjirou's two-year-old sister, his family is killed by a demon and they're the only survivors. Tanjirou is alone and desperate until he meets Rengoku on a train.

The truth is (something that Aoi would never admit out loud) the hashira are such a pain in the ass; they're the worst type of patients, they refuse to let the kakushi or the girls touch them, and they usually do an awful job when they try to patch themselves up. That's why some of them have ugly looking scars all over their bodies.
So that afternoon, when Aoi watches Tomioka walk in with an open wound on his arm, she sighs. And then immediately worries about Tanjirou as everyone else around because she doesn't want the Pillars to be rude to him; he doesn't deserve it.
She tries to distract Tanjirou or send him somewhere else, but it's really too late; the boy is already walking towards the water hashira.

Summary
Omegas were well known for their patient, caring nature. They were sensitive souls— but that’s not to say they were weak. No, omegas were terrifying, especially when their pups were in danger.
Shinazugawa’s blade dug through the box, stabbing into the demon, and the high-pitched wail that rang through the garden was unbearable.
A pup was crying. Two pups were crying: Tanjiro and whatever was in that box.
When a pup cried like this, usually their parents came running, no matter how far away they were. It was a cry for help, only used when in severe distress or danger.
And for a second, nothing happened.
Then all hell broke loose.
Shinazugawa was sent flying, everyone else had fallen over in the process of whoever-it-was that’d rushed over. The box that contained the demon was placed down in front of that Kamado kid. The boy wrapped himself around it, protecting it with his own body as he sobbed.
As their daze cleared, they all realized that it had been Tomioka to rush to the kid’s aid, reeking of distressed, enraged omega.
But that didn’t make sense. Tomioka was a beta. Right?
To say that they were confused was an understatement.
