Not tryna be indie
A notification popped up on Caroline's phone. She looks down and sees a Spotify notification saying, 'Klaus Mikealson's New Single- Dusk Till Dawn' Her breath gets caught in her throat as she opens her Spotify and plays the track. As his voice comes pouring through the phone, she has tears running down her face. She opens her contacts and sees his contact with his picture and the name Nik. She cries more and more as she listens to the whole song and then closes her phone, and drops down on her bed to drown in her tears.

Klaus sighs as his manager says, "It's out." he nods a thank you and starts walking to his car to go back to his house. He enters the car and sits down when his eyes catch the view of the white little dreamcatcher hanging on the mirror. He remembered when she put it there, saying that she would be in his dreams even in his car. It was cliché and made no sense but he had not been able to remove the dream catcher from the car even after a week. After the breakup he spent the whole week and wrote the song. He knew that he would never be able to get over her, not that he wanted to but he hated feeling so weak. So fragile for someone who he had lost because of his mistakes.

FLASHBACK
Klaus was sitting on the bar drinking his 2nd bottle when Caroline came in. She folds her hands around her chest and a scorn look on her face. Klaus keeps the bottle down and says, “What now Caroline?” in an exhausted voice. She raises her arms in frustration and says, “What Now Nik! You were so rude to Enzo, he and Bonnie had to leave because of you. They are having problems because of us.” Klaus takes another big gulp and says, “Well if my girlfriend and my best friend would fall in love with each other then I’m sure that is exactly what he deserves.” Caroline’s confused face fades into an angry one and then she says, “Can you stop with the accusations Nik! There is nothing going on between me and Enzo. He loves Bonnie!” Klaus suddenly goes angry and throws his glass across the room scaring Caroline. She closes her eyes and Klaus screams very close to her face, “Don’t call me that. That name is for the people who care for me and love me. You are not one of them.” Caroline opens her eyes and he can see the tears flowing down her eyes, hurt from his words. He wants to take it back but the alcohol has made him too dizzy to correct his mistakes. He continues and says,” You are a cheater. You are just using me for your fame. I loved you and you broke my heart. And I hate you sweetheart.” and starts walking towards the door. Caroline’s voice stops his tracks and she says, “If you take one more step Nik, then we will be done.” Klaus shakes his head, still under the spell of the whiskey and continues to walk while Caroline falls to the floor, crying her eyes out.

A WEEK LATER
It was the Billboard awards and Caroline was getting ready. She decided to wear a small white dress. She was wearing a very plain dress but it was beautiful. After doing her makeup and hair, she sat in her lemo and took off. She reached the event and after the photos she went over to the interview stand, ready for all the questions. She smiles at the reporters and says, “Hey guys! How’s everyone’s night going?” in a cheerful voice. The reporters all smile widely, Caroline’s charm and light captures everyone. Caroline nods at them to ask their questions and one of them says, “So Caroline. Are you excited for tonight? My question was whether you are rooting for any artist tonight?” Caroline smiles and says, “Oh I am very excited for tonight. And for your other question, I love and adore all the artists over here today. I hope the deserving win.” Another reporter then says, “Caroline, have you heard Klaus Mikaelson’s new single, Dusk till Dawn. It is even on one of the awards tonight” Caroline freezes on the inside but then nods with a smile and the reporter continues, “It is a very emotional break up song, who do you think this song is about?” Caroline chuckles and says, “Well guys I think you’re gonna have to ask him that question.” and says her goodbyes and moves towards the hall. She lets out a breath of relief that nothing slipped during the interview and sits down on her designated seat. She checks the chair next to her and sees Taylor Swift's name and is relieved because Taylor is one of her good friends and anyone is better than him right now. Klaus was nervous to say the least, it was billboards awards and since his song has been on the top of the charts from the last 2 weeks he had to perform and it was on the nominees of one of the awards.
There was no doubt that she was going to be there. She always is. He was going to win her back, no doubt about that. Sooner or later, she would forgive him. He wanted her in his life. His life was empty without her. He reached the interview part of the process and took a breath before going ahead and answering their questions. He greets them all and then one reporter asks, “Hi Klaus, I am going to get straight to the point, earlier we asked Caroline Forbes whether she knew who your New Single Dusk Till Dawn is about, she told us to ask you. Please do tell, we all are very curious to know.” Klaus chuckles and gives his dimple smile to the camera and says, “Tonight, when I perform, all your questions will be answered. Now if you’ll excuse me, I really need to get to the hall.” The reporters nod, accepting his answers for now and letting him go.
AN HOUR LATER, TIME FOR KLAUS’S PERFORMANCE
Nick Jonas’s voice can be heard all over the area. He now says, “Everyone, now we have someone very special, with a song for someone very special too, my oldest friend for Britain, Niklaus Mikaelson!!!” and Nick then walks away from the stage. Klaus enters the stage with just his guitar and comes to stand near the mic. He starts the song in a very acoustic tone but as the song commences, other instruments and singers can be heard from the background. He takes a look at the crowd but his eyes are stuck to a Greek goddess sitting in a white dress.

She is barely managing to keep her tears at bay, he closes his eyes and pours out his love in the song. As the song ends, the crowd bursts out into a series of claps and whistles and as he bows in thank you he can see her blonde hair running out of the hall towards the bathroom. He exits the stage, passes his guitar and runs after his ex girlfriend. He sees the door to the ladies room and without a second thought enters. She is standing near the mirror, trying to fix her makeup. She flinches at the opening and closing of the door and turns around and says, “This is the ladies room.” Klaus ignores her and locks the door. Caroline drops her hands in frustration and says, “What now Klaus! Haven’t you done enough?” Klaus flinches at the use of the name and says patiently and calmly, “Caroline love, you know I can’t bear it when you call me that.” Caroline chuckles sarcastically and says, “Oh so now I can call you Nik huh? What happened that night when you specifically banned me too. When you called me a cheater? When you walked away from me?”

Klaus bows his head in shame and says, “I am sorry sweetheart. You know that I can never hate you. I was so blinded by jealousy and hate that all I saw was red.” Caroline then says, “Well that’s fine. Because we are not getting back together.” and she opens the door and walks out. Nick Jonas’s voice can be heard, “And now for the best single of the year award, the nominees are, Dusk till dawn by Klaus Mikealson, Shower by Becky G, Wonder by Shawn Mendes and Therefore I am by Billie Eilish, and to present the award I call the dashing Taylor Swift and Harry Styles!” the crowd applauses and waits for the results. Taylor then says, “Whoo! Tough competition tonight huh? So the winner for Best Single of the year is - Klaus Mikealson for Dusk till Dawn!!” and there is chaos in the hall as Klaus makes his way to the stage. He takes the award and stands near the mic and says, “Thank you so much, to everyone. To billboards, to my family, my team everyone. But this award is for someone else. Someone very special in my life, without her my existence will cease to exist. And if I may be honest, she is a little angry with me. I hope she can forgive me because I love her more than myself. She is my light and my entire world, I love you sweetheart.” and as the stage and the crowd awws Klaus goes and starts walking down the stairs. He stops to give the mic when he is pulled into a bruising kiss. He opens his eyes and sees Caroline, with her lips attached to his with her hands around his neck. His own hands immediately go around her waist and the crowd cheers for them. Caroline breaks the kiss and then says, “It’s okay, I forgive you. I love you Nik.” Klaus smiles and says, “Thank you sweetheart, I love you too.”
