Part 1 is from just before the training corps to just after the Battle of Trost

Mikasa still retains her memories of everything that will happen in the future and tries to use what she knows to change the past. However, no matter how hard she tries, it seems destiny is set to go down a certain path.
This leads to part 2 where Mikasa takes Eren to the Underground City to hide from this destiny. This is where the story gets disappointing. Despite Mikasa joining a gang and gaining a reputation throughout the entire city, we never really get to see her in action during this time except once at the end when she is escaping the gang. The plot is massively slowed down at this point and not much of anything is happening at all. Part 2 is slowburn first, plot second.
