Work Text:
It was the second week when the new hires at JJK Hospital had noticed a difference in facades from Dr. Iori and Dr. Gojo.
A frustrated, red-faced Utahime had been angrily yelling at a Gojo Satoru for the past 15 minutes, and it had not seemed like she was at any moment close to being done.
From an outsider’s perspective, one would have never thought the angelic, sweet, kind (and absolutely stunning ) doctor, was the same individual currently yelling the staff’s ears out.
Dr. Utahime and Dr. Gojo were the hospital’s most popular and well-known doctors.
While Utahime was known as the utmost angelic person, Gojo had a similar reputation as Utahime, reputable as the sophisticated, charming, handsome, and kind doctor.
Right when the new hires had assumed Dr. Gojo would finally appease the other doctor, he had only yawned, further fuelling the current argument.
The real question to these two newbies of the medical team was what the argument even was. Though in a few moments, it simply would not matter.
“You know what, Satoru, I am absolutely just done with you!” Utahime cries out, storming out of the staff’s breakroom.
Dr. Gojo had only sighed in response, furiously rubbing his face in exhaustion.
From then on, it became a known fact, at least to the new hires, that Dr. Gojo and Dr. Iori were to be categorized as enemies.
After the first incident, the new employees could not help but notice the pair at any given moment.
_____
The second interaction they had seen of the two after the first event, was rather brief, occurring in the hospital’s hallway.
Dr. Satoru had been walking down the corridor with another staff member, Dr. Shoko, when he came across Dr. Iori coming from the opposite end. The tall, white-haired man seemed to have wanted to capture Dr. Utahime’s attention. Unfortunate for him, Dr. Iori chose to walk right past the man, almost as if he had not existed, only briefly glancing to the brunette woman beside him, sparing a small greeting.
In the eyes of one hire, the male doctor seemed to be rather discouraged, even upset.
As a result, he turns around.
“Uta-” He begins, only to stop, noticing a sharp glare from the purple-haired woman.
Gojo scowls at her, deciding to continues his walk with Dr. Shoko. The air had turned slightly frigid in the smallest span of time.
The new hires, overhear a snippet of Dr. Gojo’s conversation with Dr. Shoko, “Why doesn’t she listen to me. I-”
“Can Nurse Mob Character and Nurse Mob Character please head to the reception hall”
And just like that, the hires were unable to hear the conversation between Gojo and Shoko. But, it did confirm, once again, that a mutual distaste seemed to be shared between Dr. Iori and Dr. Satoru.
____
The third event had occurred in a hospital room. This time around, it had even involved a patient.
“Are you married Gojo”, the female patient had asked him. The women seemed to have known the man, talking with such familiarity.
The blue-eyed man chokes, surprised to hear a straightforward question.
Ah, he’s single .
It came to the surprise of the pair of nurses. As well as the patients and a few doctors in the rest of the room.
The space the incident was situated in was not private, it had multiple patient beds lined across and Dr. Iori happened to be present in the area filled with doctors and patients.
The violet-haired woman snickers in her amusement, laughing at the male’s distress and status in relationship. The two nurses note that Dr. Iori seems to really enjoy laughing at Dr. Gojo’s misery, even letting out a small snort.
Dr. Gojo glances at Dr. Iori, noticing her presence after hearing a loud snort, “No, I’m actually engaged, to a beautiful woman with the most wonderful smile”. He lifts up his large hand, displaying a simple silver band wrapped around his thick ring finger.
Just like the first time the nurses had seen the pair, Dr. Utahime furrows her brows. She rolls her hazel eyes, before turning towards her own patient.
“Make sure, you take this medicine every day,” Dr. Iori tells them, providing a tight-lipped smile.
Dr. Satoru says his farewells to the female patient, slightly nudging Dr. Utahime on the way out. The two mob characters follow suit, noting one point once again. Dr. Iori and Dr. Gojo simply do not have a good relationship.
______
The fourth scene the duo of nurses had witnessed involving Dr. Gojo and Dr. Iori, occurred in the hospital’s cafeteria. It was quite peaceful, this incident, to be honest.
“Has anyone seen my ring?”
All the staff members look over to Utahime, “Which one?” Dr. Shoko asks.
“The silver band, with the blue gemstone”
Dr. Utahime worriedly touches her neck, “I usually have it on my necklace, but it’s not here”
A wave of panic washes across Iori, hands slightly shaking from losing her precious ring and necklace.
The two mob characters, as well as the rest of the staff, shuffle around the mess hall, trying to find her lost belongings. She seems stressed and upset, searching all of her pockets and surroundings.
“This one right?” Dr. Gojo intervenes, holding up a simple chain with a ring dangling.
“Yes, that’s exactly the one. Thanks, Gojo” Utahime smiles at the white-haired man, a first for the spectators at the scene.
Utahime leans forward to the tall doctor, wrapping her delicate arms around his waist, “I thought I lost it”
The two new employees make a different note for the pair, perhaps they do not hate each other as much as we thought.
___
The fifth incident was the most shocking out of them all.
It was a late working shift for the entire night crew at JJK Hospital and it had finally ended. As a way to celebrate finishing their gruelling hours at the medical ward, a staff member, suggests going out to the local bar.
Surprisingly, both Utahime and Gojo were the first to disagree. It was interesting to employees that even Utahime had not wanted to drink the night away. It was utterly known to all members that Miss Iori enjoyed drinking.
“I’m kind of tired today guys” Utahime replies, rubbing the back of her neck, “I just want to sit down and rest”
“Utahime join us for a few drinks, please?” Shoko puts her hands together, interlocking them, pleading, “We rarely end at the same time and it’ll be a while before we have a shift together”
Utahime glances at Gojo, they silently communicate through their eyes, Utahime sighs, “Sure, just for a little then”
Gojo sighs dramatically, wrapping an arm around Utahime’s shoulder, “I’m so tired Utahime! Carry me!”
She shoves him off, “You’re heavy!”
Dr. Gojo gasps, “How could you! This is why you’re not getting ma-” Dr. Utahime slams her hand on his mouth.
“Shut. Up”
You’re so mean Hime-chan!” He mumbles against her hand, eyes glinting playfully
They all reach the bar, settling into a booth, ordering their own respective drinks.
“Great work everyone!”
Three hours had passed, almost the entire team was wasted, perhaps only the newer staff members, as they had been slightly nervous around somewhat-strangers.
“Gojo” Dr. Utahime drawls out, slurring Dr. Satoru’s last name.
“That’s not my name Utahime”, Mr. Gojo softly smiles beside her, once again, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
The mob characters think to themselves, Miss Utahime, based on her previous responses, is most definitely going to push it off. Yet instead, something else had happened.
Dr. Utahime had only snuggled closer, “Satoru”
It genuinely felt to the crowd, they were witnessing a private event between the pair. The two doctors, were in their own world, casually leaning against each other, with an arm protectively placed on a shoulder. It slightly still confused a selected duo, knowing that 1. It seemed that Mr. Gojo was already engaged. Is it alright for him to cuddle with another woman?
“I love you Utahime”
Eventually, it was time to live, the staff members had slowly drifted out the bar, saying temporary goodbyes, knowing they would see each other in a day’s time.
Mr. Gojo and Ms. Iori had been one of the last to leave, mostly due to Dr. Iori sleeping at the booth.
“Get home safely,” Gojo says to the remaining crowd, piggybacking Iori.
Now, a question rather than a determined answer remains in their heads, just what is the doctors’ relationship?
_____
The new hires had finally got their answer to just what the doctors’ relationship was.
It was first simply a mystery.
In the first incident, Dr. Utahime had been yelling quite furiously to Dr. Gojo, yet he had only played it off. To observers like them, it really had revealed they were somewhat enemies.
It had only been further confirmed in the second event, where the doctors had been walking down the same hall. Only fiery glances were present, even creating a frigid atmosphere.
The third occurrence was similar, Dr. Gojo and Dr. Iori seemed to have a silent argument within the hospital room, even in front of patients. It was a noticeable fact once again, that the duo had some unsolved issues.
The fourth had completely changed the entire analysis. Dr. Utahime had lost her necklace and ring, and only stress seemed to have settled within her. It was interesting to see Gojo, personally hand her the missing necklace. It was not that Dr. Gojo was a completely horrible guy, but after their previous incidents, it was somewhat shocking seeing him be nice to her.
Though that was not what had received the most attention, it was the fact that Dr. Iori had hugged him, after he handed the necklace to her. It genuinely seemed like Dr. Iori never wanted to purposely interact with the man, yet there she was embracing him in the hospital’s cafeteria.
The last incident, expressed the same opinion as the fourth, just what was their relationship? They were found snuggling in the booth, saying I love you’s, and even carrying another on their back.
It was in the middle of the afternoon when Dr. Gojo and Dr. Utahime had arrived at work. It had been about three weeks since they have last seen them. The doctors were parked in front of the hospital, indicating it was only a quick drop-off. The pair had exited the same vehicle. It was purely a coincidence that the witnesses were outside located near the bushes in front of the hospital, just about five metres away.
“I’ll see you later”
He wraps his arms around her waist, bringing her close, “Yes darling” The long-haired woman had blushed in response, before hugging him.
“Okay, head off now”, she lets go, shooing him off to the hospital’s entrance. He continues to hold, deciding he rather not listen to her.
“Mwah” He smacks a wet kiss onto her forehead, “Disgusting Gojo!” She rubs her forehead aggressively.
“Where’s my goodbye kiss wife?”
“Eh? You’re so cheesy Satoru”, yet she goes on her tippy-toes, wanting to press a soft kiss to his cheek. Gojo turns his head in the last second, pressing their lips together.
“Hehehe, later Hime-chan. I love you”
“I love you too, idiot”
They wave to each other before Dr. Utahime heads back to the vehicle. Gojo directed to the infirmary.
The two nurses watch Dr. Gojo entering the hospital, noticing his simple silver band had upgraded. It still was a silver band, but it was decorated with small amethysts.
They’re married… ?
