Sharo did not want to feel nervous or afraid. This meeting called for excitement, not dread and sadness. However she knew herself too much to expect anything different, so she just tried to keep a rein on it, and not let panic overwhelm her. Rize was coming over for tea. With her matching cup. There were dandelions and sunflowers on her cup as decorations and as far as Rize told her on Rize's own handmade cup there were irises and pansies. Looking at herself in the mirror for the third time, and going over the food in the fridge and the tea on the stove, Sharo yet again went over everything she needed for when Rize arrived.
Opening the closet, she picked her favorite cookies, setting them on the table, and going over to check her phone. Rize wrote she would be there in five minutes, so Sharo put the kettle on, and waited patiently for the water to warm up. However the doorbell rang first, so the blond haired girl hurried up toward the door, and let Rize in politely. Rize followed Sharo to the set table, where the shorter girl helped her sit down in an appropriate sit. They talked until the kettle squeaked, and Sharo went over to turn the heat off.
After exchanging appropriate small talk and inquiries that they usually did, Sharo asked Rize about the trip with her father. While Rize launched into a heated retelling of her adventures, Sharo was pointedly looking at her and trying to listen attentively. However her fear reared it's ugly head again, and the only thing she could focus on and think about was her impending confession. It seemed like an easy feat and a worth endeavor at the time, although now Sharo didn't know if she wanted to go through with it.
Rize's worried voice cut through Sharo's train of thoughts, and she looked up blinking in surprise. Under Rize's concerned eyes, Sharo felt her cheeks redden, so she looked down at her cup, and sipped the drink so she could collect her emotions better. "Is everything alright, Sharo? You seem distracted," Rize noticed, her eyes not leaving Sharo's face. Under Rize's heavy scrutiny, Sharo felt her legs go weak (it was pure luck she was already sitting down, or the consequences would be dire), and her throat dried up, like a plant under the dessert sun. Could she really do it? Was it really worth it? Sharo took a deep breath and let it out slowly, preparing mentally and physically, for what she was attempting to do.
The purple haired girl watched her in silence, probably sensing Sharo needed some time to collect her thoughts. Taking another deep breath and letting it out, Sharo felt her courage renew so she opened her mouth, but couldn't get anything coherent out. Smacking her hand across her face, Sharo sighed and tried again. "Rize, I......."
" I........reallylikeyou," the yellow haired girl, let out the words quickly, so that her throat doesn't clog up again. Rize blinked in bewilderment, then when she registered the words, she smiled warmly and answered: "I like you too, Sharo. I thought you knew that". Shaking her head, Sharo continued to talk in a bit slower pace, so her words would be clear and precise. "I didn't mean it like that. I meant I like you in a romantic way," Sharo stressed the last word, so Rize would understand better what she meant. By widening of her eyes and her lips parted in shock, Rize understood it clearly and was surprised at the news.
Sharo fidgeted in nervous silence, awkwardly drinking her tea, and looking everywhere except at Rize. " I.....I.....I don't know what to say. I never knew......", Rize struggled to voice her thoughts, but apparently was too shocked to string a normal sentence. Seeing the indecision and doubt on Rize's face, Sharo started to fear getting rejected, so in a bold move, not really typical of her, she quickly asked: " Wanna try it out? I mean going out with me. Could you..... could you maybe give me a chance? Just one, so if it doesn't work out, we part and everything goes back to what it was. Is that a good suggestion?"
The taller girl now looks even more confused and distraught, and Sharo feels a bit bad at shoving her selfish feeling at the distressed Rize, so she opens her mouth to apologize, when Rize suddenly pipes up: " I......I think! That would be alright." Rize finishes her sentence, looking just as surprised as Sharo by her answer. "Are you sure, Rize? If you don't want....." Sharo doesn't finish the sentence, but they both know what she means. Rize blushes beautifully, taking Sharo so off guard, she almost drops her teacup on the floor. "Well....... I don't know if that is what I really want. You really caught me by surprise. But for some reason, I feel like I wouldn't mind going out with you. So in this case, I am going to listen to my heart, instead of my head. So what do you say, Sharo?" Rize asks now feeling really out of depth, and vulnerable all of a sudden.
Sharo jolts out of her delirium and answers too loudly: " I...... Of course I wouldn't mind it! I love it actually! I completely agree! I....... I am so happy right now," she finishes her passionate speech, feeling her eyes mist in clear warning of tears. "Sharo! Why are you crying?!" Rize asks sounding really worried, but Sharo waves her worry away, smiling brilliantly at Rize and laughing at her discomfort. "I am just so happy, Rize. So, so happy, you don't even know...."
Sharo's tears don't stop and she continues to cry without stopping. Rize's eyes soften at the sight, and she goes around the table and hugs Sharo tightly, so she could show her support and love to her brand new girlfriend (And Rize will need time to get used to that development). Sharo cries and laughs at the same time, feeling blessed and gifted with a precious jewel that no one else has. And now that the jewel is in her hands, she will not let it go that easily. (However Rize doesn't need to know that yet).
