Drift smiled as he arranged and rearranged the crystals on the altar. There had been several heated discussions over the decorations. He thought Thunderclash and Cyclonus were going to come to blows over whether the crystals should be carved or natural.
In the end, he decided, it was his ceremony after all, mostly natural. He centered the single piece of carved selenite on the altar. He'd asked Ratchet to carve it. He hadn't expected much, certainly Ratchet wouldn't know the traditional prayer carvings. And it wasn't the most traditional, but the intricately carved glyph for 'perseverance' was perfect.
Finally, the arrangement was just as he wanted. Obsidian for stability, selenite for happiness, carnelian for passion. Good choices for a bonding, though the carnelian was a bold statement, Drift couldn't pass it up. He had picked up several pieces over the years, always reminded of Ratchet when he saw them. The ones he chose for today though, matched Ratchet's colors perfectly.
Cyclonus had smirked, and Thinderclash had grinned brightly when they had seen his choices. They were likely the only mechs onboard that understood the true meanings. If nothing else his choice of colors would get his affection across to the rest of the crew. After all, he’d started his collection long before he understood the meanings. He murmured one last blessing before leaving. There was still a lot to do before the ceremony.
