Chapter Text
“What do you mean you don’t have any?” Minho slammed his hands on the counter.
“I’m sorry Sir, but we’re out of suppressants. You’ll have to come back in a week or two."
But Minho couldn’t wait for that long.
“Are you absolutely sure? You may have one box left and didn’t notice. Please, can you look one more time?” He asked desperately.
The man in front of him sighed and shook his head.
“Sir, this is the third time that you’re asking me this and the answer is the same. No, we don’t have any box left. Besides, I already told you that you need to let your body go into heat at least once a year so that you don’t suffer from bad side effects.”
Minho couldn’t do that. He couldn’t let himself go into heat. Not even once or others would find out that he’s faking.
“Forget it…”
He went out of the pharmacy and took a taxi to go back to the dorm.
Lee Minho was born an Omega. However, he was known as the only Beta of the K-pop group, Stray Kids.
How ? By using the suppressants he just tried to buy.
He absolutely needed them to not go into heat every few months and to hide his scent from everyone, including his bandmates.
He couldn’t be an Omega. Not after what happened before.

Minho found out his secondary gender one year before the events.
He was an Omega.
His parents were happy with that and even threw him a little party to celebrate.
He didn’t really care what secondary gender he was gonna be, and he thought being an Omega fit him well somehow.
Not too much had changed in his life ever since he had discovered this and that his scent had started becoming sweeter and stronger.
Of course, he noticed some Alphas staring a little too long at him, his friends at the time treating him slightly differently, like he suddenly became fragile. His parents became more protective of him, asking him to come home earlier than he was used to.
He knew things would change a little and as much as he didn’t really like it, it wasn’t too frustrating and he could live with it. After all, he had noticed some changes in himself too.
His facial features were becoming softer than they used to be and it became harder for him to gain muscle. It wasn’t impossible but he just had to make more effort than before. He also noticed other people’s scents when he didn’t before and they affected his mood sometimes.
But even with all these changes, Minho’s personality didn’t change. He was still cheerful, he still liked teasing his friends and he still loved taking late night walks so he could think in the calm of the night while looking at the pretty stars.
Minho was still himself, and it wasn’t a stupid secondary gender that was gonna change anything.
He was wrong.
One day, Minho had decided to go on one of his late night walks.
He hadn’t told his parents for two reasons. One, they were asleep and he didn’t want to wake them up. Two, it was past midnight so even if he asked them, they would probably be against it.
He wore a simple white tee-shirt and black sweatpants before going downstairs.
“Meow!” Soonie jumped on him.
“Shh!!” Minho smiled at his cat and pet him a little before taking his keys from a little bowl on the table.
When he took that, he looked at the pepper spray his father had bought him a few days ago when he mentioned an Alpha trying to flirt with him at the mall.
He laughed when he first saw it and told him it was unnecessary since he could perfectly defend himself. But his father insisted he accepted it, so he did.
He stared at it some more, before sighing and putting it in his pocket. It couldn’t do any bad to take it after all. And in case his parents caught him, he could say he had it with him at least.
He finally went out and took a deep breath of fresh air. Winter was on its way, and with it, the cold. At this time of the day, the weather was perfect and he loved walking now, when there was no one.
He looked up and smiled when he noticed the small stars looking right back at him.
He wanted to go to a park, lie down and look at them all night, but he knew that he would get in trouble if he did that. As much as he cherished his freedom, he didn't want to make his parents worry too much about him.
So he decided to cut this short. He would simply go to the store, buy some milk and a box of cereal since he knew there wasn't any left, and then he'd go back home.
A few minutes passed and he arrived at the store. A quick look to the cashier's direction showed him that it was a new one. Usually, it was an old man that loved chatting a little too much. But today it was a younger blonde guy, and by his scent, Minho could tell that he was an Alpha.
He didn't pay too much attention to it, and went to grab whatever he needed. He started with the cereals, but the one he usually liked were at the top and he was having a hard time reaching it.
Before he could give up, the cashier was already behind him, pressing against his back unnecessarily.
He put one hand on Minho's shoulder, squeezing a little bit and took the box of cereal with his other one.
The guy stayed in the same position a little too long for it to be unintentional before finally stepping back and giving Minho some space.
I t all happened for a minute, but Minho felt like it went on for an eternity and he didn't even realize that he had stopped breathing until he felt the lack of oxygen. What is happening?
He turned around and looked at the blonde.
"W..What are you doing?" He asked, his voice shaking slightly.
Minho didn't understand why he was so scared right now.
Maybe because it was late. Maybe because he was alone with this guy. Maybe because of the way he couldn't move when he approached him like that.
"I just wanted to give you the cereal box, you seemed to have a hard time with it." He put the box in his hands and Minho took it without thinking.
Oh. Right. This guy was probably just trying to help. What was he thinking?
"You're really pretty by the way." He said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
Maybe Minho wasn't imagining stuff. He took a step back from the man but he took a step forward.
"Thank you for your help."
He decided to ignore the guy's comment, hoping that he would understand that he wasn't interested.
Minho turned around and decided he would just buy this so he could go home as soon as possible.
But before he could take one more step, there was a hand on his wrist. The grip was strong. Enough that Minho didn't have the choice of taking his hand back and the box fell from his hand.
He turned around slightly, enough to see the guy's eyes on him.
"You didn't tell me your name, pretty Omega."
Minho looked at him, completely frozen.
"How do you know that?”
Stupid question.
“You think I can’t smell your scent? It’s calling for me…”
This was the first time someone ever said that to him. Sure, he’d heard some pretty weird comments coming from horny Alphas but none talked about his scent like that. Was something different today?
Minho didn’t have the time to think about that. The guy was tightening his grip on his wrist and making him take a step forward.
That’s when he realized that he needed to get out of this situation. And fast.
“Let go of me…” He didn’t sound confident. His voice was just a whisper due to his fear.
The other chuckled “And why would I do that? You’re the foolish Omega who came into my store while knowing that you’re soon going into heat.”
What? Heat?
Minho didn’t notice any changes in himself. But if it was only his scent that changed for now then it made sense that he didn’t know. He couldn’t smell himself after all.
“I said let go of me!”
This time he was more assured. Knowing this information made him realize just how dangerous the situation actually was.
He needed to go home. But for that, he needed to get away from the Alpha.
“What are you gonna do if I say no? You can’t even take a step back”
The Alpha looke d at him, eyes dark and scary. He took one more step forward and pushed the Omega harshly against the counter. His back hurt from the impact and he let out a pained sound.
The Alpha’s eyes only got darker. “You even sound pretty”
Minho’s heart was beating so fast he feared it would come out of his chest. Never in his life did he feel such fear.
If he didn’t do anything to save himself, then who knows what this guy was capable of doing.
So Minho did the only thing he could when his arms were tightly gripped by the Alpha and his entire body was shaking badly.
He screamed.
“Help! Someone! Please, help! Pl--mnh”
The Alpha panicked and put his hand on Minho’s mouth to shut him up. He looked at the store’s door, seeing that no one was coming inside.
“You little fucker, you’re gonna regret that.”
Little did he know, he was the one who was gonna regret ever touching Minho.
Now, with one of his hands free, Minho looked for the pepper spray in his pocket and sprayed it on the cashier’s eyes.
The Alpha screamed and moved away from him, letting go of him to try to protect his eyes.
Minho was quick. He got his legs to move even through the shaking and made a dash for the door.
He ran and ran, as quickly as possible. He saw some people on the street but was too scared to interact with anyone to ask for help.
He fell and scratched his knees but he got up quickly out of fear and ignored the pain.
He didn’t run for that long, but it felt like he’d been running for years until he finally arrived at his house. He opened the door fast and closed it behind him just as quickly.
Breathe.
He needed to breathe.
His entire body was shaking and he couldn’t stand up anymore.
So he let everything fall.
Let the pepper spray fall from his hand and roll on the ground.
Let his body fall, his back against the front door.
Let the tears fall against his cheeks.
He sat there and didn’t move. Just crying and sobbing like never before.
After some time, soonie came to him. He walked slowly towards him and meowed at him as if he was asking what was wrong.
Minho just sobbed harder and let the cat sit on his lap. He held soonie close to him and cried some more.
He eventually fell asleep there, on the ground, his cat in his arms.
