Ridiculous

Summary:

Prompt: “You’ve reached a new level of ridiculous.” Chat won’t stop bugging her for attention, and Marinette is not having it. Marichat. One shot.

Work Text:

Marinette tapped her foot restlessly at the pedal of her sewing machine as she scribbled away at a new design she needed finished by tomorrow, else her professor would have her head.

And he wasn’t helping.

Chat rolled over onto his back dramatically, letting out a huff of air. “You wont pay attention to me.”

Marinette rolled her eyes to herself, her frustration building quickly with him. Didn’t he have better things to do than to just sit here and pester her when she had a very important project due in 7 hours? A long drawn out sigh came from behind her, and she had never wanted to throw him off her balcony more than in that moment.

“You’re starving me.”

“Go home, Chat.”

“Starving me of the love and affection that I need and deserve.”

That was it.

Marinette flung around in her swivel chair, narrowing her eyes in disbelief as she let out a strangled noise of pure annoyance and frustration.

“Do you not remember me telling you yesterday to not come by tonight, specifically tonight, because I had to finish my huge project that’s due tomorrow morning?”

She stared him down, his face seeming to consider what she had said, as if trying to recall the conversation she knew very well they had had.

“Were you dropped on your head as an infant, or were you just born stupid?”

He looked over at her from his place on the ground. “Well excuse me if I just want pats from the woman who normally does so in the first place without a problem.”

She didn’t know what was pissing her off more at this point; the fact that he seemed completely unfazed by her outburst, or the fact that his stupid look he always gave her was plastered all over his smug-ass feline face.

Marinette could only continue to stare at him, her patience beginning to bubble over. She let her head fall forward, pinching the bridge over her nose to quell the pounding annoyance in her head.

“What is it going to take to get you to leave.”

He didn’t even hesitate.

“A ball of yarn and 5 minutes of pats.”

Marinette could only let out an exasperated sigh following. “You have reached a new level of ridiculous.”

“And don’t skimp on me either, I want one of the good rolls, none of that shit you get from Frankies Book Closet or whatever the hell-“

He screeched as a book flew past his head, hitting the corner of the chaise behind him, he looked back over at her, flames basically coming out of her ears.

“Out.”

“Pats.”

Leave.”

“Marinette so help me woman I will get back up on your window sill and knock over every plant you have ever-“

And the last thing that could be heard through the Parsinian night were the screeches of the Cat and his Princess. But mostly the Cat.
