Chapter Text
Lights flashing, the crowd roaring with excitement. It was exhilarating. He soared through the air, and for those few short seconds- he actually felt glorious.
At the back of his mind, he knew that the crowd was waiting for something. He twisted through the fired-up hoop, landing right after and posing triumphantly.
Slowly, the cheers traded out for laughs. Stu looked to his side and realized his cape was aflame. He freaked out, spinning and clutching at the flames in an attempt to put it out. The crowd loved it. So, the show continued.
Despite things he’s been told, Stu didn’t mind the extra ‘act.’ Really, only the first time was embarrassing. It wasn’t intentional, but they laughed, which means they loved it. They loved him.
Ratings varied after that, and experts pinpointed it proportional to how much damage he’s taken. Stu quickly agreed to take on this extra task.
No matter the insults, the approval was the bigger picture. The countless patchwork repairs he’s had, only meant he had nothing to lose. Being laughed at was just as good at being cheered on. Ratings were high. They loved him. They expected the amusing injuries now. He couldn’t stop. People were happy. They loved him! He made their day. It was better than being a lone crash test d-d-dummy. They loved him. They loved him.
The only thing he truly wondered about was why his eye piece was blue. He was sure that the repairman specified a clear visor. But… no matter. Anyone could mess up.
