Summary
All of her memories fade away as she repeats the words in her mind. ‘It's you, It's me, It's us.’ She doesn't feel anything, doesn't remember anything about herself or what was happening but the blinding need to go back to Bly, walk, and fall asleep below the lake.
She doesn't move, just keeps staring at her own reflection. Her whole body feels afloat, and she can see herself staring down the overflowing bathtub as if she was trying to see the little bubbles in it.
It was then that Jamie would shake her out of her reverie, and then everything came crashing down at her once. The fear, the anxiety, the dreaded end of this temporary paradise she'd convince herself that was going to last forever. There was a twisted feeling in her stomach telling her that the clock was already at the eleventh hour and she doesn't have enough time left.
"One day at a time Poppins," she heard Jamie tell her as she took care of the distressed au pair, but she sounded very far away.
‘I don't have time, love.’ The sinking pit settles itself on Dani. ‘Oh god, Jamie. I'm scared about what might happen to us.’
