Work Text:
Sakusa has always hated the heat. With heat inevitably comes sweat, and to sweat is to be unclean. Heat is also a byproduct of standing in crowds, of being too close to others for comfort. It’s all of his least favourite things, and it leaves him more irritable than normal, wearing his patience down thin. He has hated the heat for these reasons for as long as he can remember.
Recently though, he has found a new reason to hate the heat.
With heat brings the presence of Miya Atsumu, practicing serves in their poorly air conditioned gym on the weekend. Except this time, he is shirtless. Apparently, without the coach around to keep him in line, Miya Atsumu does not have the human decency to present himself in a way that is, well, decent.
Sakusa’s eyes follow Miya’s form (in disgust, he insists to himself. In abhorrence of his state of dress). He watches the stretch in Miya’s thighs as he runs up to his jump. He sees Miya’s abs pull tight as he launches himself into the air, and his biceps curve as he connects with the ball and slams it onto the court. And he stares, transfixed at the sheen of sweat on Miya’s body. He is glowing.
Suddenly, Sakusa experiences heat in a much different way than before. This time, it unfurls at the base of his belly, spreading through all his limbs and leaving an itch at his fingertips.
He does not have the time to unpack this. The tournament is just a few days away, and his mind should be on volleyball. He does not want to unpack this heat, nor does he want to unpack the reason why it was Miya Atsumu who made him feel it.
So, he turns around and leaves. And resolves to tell the coach to get their air conditioning fixed.
