Never let it be said that Leona isn’t prideful.
And, funnily enough, it is his pride that he takes pride in. It is his pride that has forced him to keep on standing even when everything else about him just wants to lie on the ground and let the darkness swallow him whole. When he just wants to close his eyes and hope they never open again.
Leona also sometimes curses his own pride, as it has brought him to his own downfall.
Like right now.
Or, overblot is supposed to be one of the most deadly things a mage can experience, and despite this, Leona continues to play Spelldrive after he overblots. Here's my take on what should have happened.

Later, Chopper will insist that several of those bullets should have struck him dead and Jinbei will be sure that no one could survive a fire like that and Usopp swears he saw a whole building come down on their cook — but then they will all later concede that, actually, they had seen Sanji survive all of those things before, so the whole thing was all still up in the air.
