Let's go in the garden
You'll find something waiting
Right there where you left it lying upside down
Amelia smiles, watching Kiara, Calli and Gura play on the beach. A part of her feels wrong, remembering what she had to go through to get her and her friends a happy ending. She laughs to herself and brings her knees up to her chin.
Ina sits next to her, giving Amelia a soft smile. Amelia looks at Ina and gives her a crooked smile, one that doesn't quite meet her eyes. Both look towards the shadows that suddenly appeared to see the rest of their gen.
Kiara kneels down next to Amelia and hugs her. Calli starts helping Ina pack up their stuff while Gura and Kiara comfort a crying Amelia.
Amelia starts shaking, thinking of all the horrible time leaps she'd been through, some where she lost all her friends, some where she almost didn't make it, some where they all left her.
Kiara sighs and picks up Amelia, who is still shaking violently. Gura follows after Kiara and Amelia, looking confused.
Calli and Ina come back with all their stuff packed up. Gura takes a few bags to help lighten the load.
Amelia calms down slightly, resting her head against the window in the passenger seat, her eyes focussed on something none of the others can see. Kiara looks worriedly at Amelia from the drivers seat while everyone gets in the back.
As they drive away, Amelia bids a silent farewell to the glistening pocket watch resting in the sand. A part of her wants to start screaming, start tearing at her seatbelt to get out of the car and run back, to get her watch, but Amelia knows better.
She huffs and turns away, choosing to stare blankly out of the front windshield.
When you finally find it, you'll se how it's faded
The underside is lighter when you turn it around
Calliope Mori stares down at the body of her slowly dying lover. Tears prick at the corner of her eyes and she chastises herself for feeling this way. But no matter how many times she's seen this image, she can never not cry at the sight.
Kiara smiles weakly, a trail of blood trickling from her mouth. She raises her hand, her eyes almost squinted shut. Calli felt her heart, figuratively of course, break at the sight.
The reaper fell to her knees, taking the phoenix's hand in hers, squeezing it softly. She leaned forward and hugged Kiara, not caring if her blood stained her clothes.
She felt the phoenix return the embrace, grasping at her veil meekly. Calli felt a mixture of hot tears and blood on her shoulder.
'I shouldn't prolong this. She's already suffered for long enough' Calli felt a few more tears fall from her eyes.
She leaned back, giving the phoenix one last kiss. She felt Kiara trying to reciprocate the motion, but the reaper pulled away, albeit hesitantly.
"I'm sorry, Kiara... I love you" Calli whispered softly, summoning her scythe. Kiara closed her eyes, already having accepted her fate.
Calli brought down her curved weapon in a powerful arch, but before the metal ended the phoenix's life, she could've sworn she heard the words
'Love you too~'.
Everything stays right where you left it
Everything stays but it still changes
Ever so slightly, daily and nightly
In little ways, when everything stays
Ina stares over the ruins of her temple, letting the wind tussle her long hair. Her tentacles were curled up behind her, huddling together to stay warm in the cold weather, but their bearer didn't care to move or put on something warmer.
She didn't even move when she felt a two others walk up to her. She felt a smaller hand curl into her own, lacing their fingers together. She felt the second person lean against her, sharing some of their warmth with her.
"We figured you'd be out her, Ina" The flaps on Ina's head droop slightly. Amelia sighs, already familiar with the priestess' antics. Beside her, Gura pulls her tail a little closer to her, not really sure how to deal with this.
"I know how you feel, Ina" Gura mumbled softy. Ina smiles softly, bringing her free hand to run her fingers through Gura's hair. Gura leaned into the familiar embrace. Ina sighs, the wind calms down slightly as she does so.
"C'mon, let's go home" While saying this, Ina creates a portal. Both Amelia and Gura smile at her, making Ina's heart swell with love for them.
Go down to the ocean
The crystal tide is raising
Amelia walks down to the beach, seeing Gura seated on the sand, staring out to the ocean. The waves go past her feet, drenching her shoes and the bottom of her hoodie. Amelia sighs and puts away the flashlight, now using the light of the moon. It was bright enough and created a rather scenic view, but that wasn't what mattered.
She shrugged off her coat, resting it on her arm. As she walked over, Gura didn't even turn her head to show she noticed her.
Amelia shivered at the sensation of cold water rushing into her shoes, sinking into her socks.
Neither says anything, simply watching the stars reflecting off the ocean. The moon created a pretty sphere on the water, only being interrupted by the waves breaking over the sandbars.
Amelia smiled when she felt Gura shuffle closer to her, wrapping her tail around the detective.
"I miss it sometimes..." Gura's voice was soft. Amelia didn't have to ask what she meant, both knew. In a way, she could relate, having lost several friends and family members over the timelines she'd lived through.
In a silent gesture of affection, Amelia wrapped one of her arms round Gura's shoulders, pulling the shark closer to her. She felt Gura lean into her more, pulling her tail tighter around Amelia.
The two stayed like that until the sun started to shine against the horizon.
The waters' gotten higher as the shore washes out
Keep your eyes wide open, even when the sun is blazin'
The moon controls the tide, it could cause you to drown
Amelia gripped her head tighter, her body itching for the euphoric sensation of a concoction, the only thing that could give her moments of calmness, sleep.
In a fit of rage and terror, she grabbed the nearest thing next to her, an empty vase and hurtled it at the wall, relishing in the smashing sound it made.
She stood there, arms clutching herself, eyes wide and bloodshot, tears rolling down her cheeks. Amelia reaches over for a syringe filled with a blue-ish substance.
'Just a little bit... Just a little bit' the thought circles through her mind. Her fingers brush against the plunger as she snatched it up.
'Just a little bit...' She lets out a sigh of relief feeling it flowing underneath her skin. She stops, listening to the ambience of her surroundings. Amelia pauses.
"What have I done..? Who am I? What if the others saw me like this" She whispers to herself. She lets out a cry of anguish, collapsing against the end of her bed, burying her face in her hands, letting the tears flow free.
Amelia almost jumps out of her skin when she feels someone wrap an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to them. Their touch was tentative, slow and careful, like they were trying not to startle her.
"Why are you doing this, Watson?" The soft voice of a reaper brought her back to reality. She brought her eyes up to meet the pink-ish red gaze of Calliope Mori.
Instead of fury, like she expected to see, there was nothing but worry and sadness in them, the faint shine from the moon reflecting in them.
Without words, Amelia collapsed into her friend's embrace, crying her heart out. Calli sat there, rubbing Amelia's back, letting her get everything out.
Everything stays, right where you've left it
Everything stays, but it still changes
Calli swings her scythe uncoordinatedly, trying her best to just hit something in her panic. Not too far from her, Kiara was trying to control her fire while simultaneously slash and block their attackers. Ina had curled around an unconscious Amelia, letting her tentacles create barriers and weapons to defend themselves. Gura was trying her hardest to fend off shadowy figures with her trident.
Everything was hazy, panicky.
Calli was enraged, seeing how these people attacked at her friends, all of which could be lost at any moment.
Kiara was terrified, just wanted to curl up next to Calli and cry, having the reaper comfort her. She was all to aware of the fact that most of her friends could be gone forever at just one wrong move.
Ina was indifferent, having let the Ancient Ones take control of her body, only under the explicit rule that they not harm any single one of her friends.
Gura was confused, and scared, and a heap of other emotions. Who were these people? What did they want with her friends? She didn't know and all she could do was slash on down after another, bodies piling up around her.
Amelia rested peacefully throughout all of this. Thousands of cuts littering her body, small droplets of blood seeping out of them.
Ever so slightly, daily and nightly
In little ways
She couldn't believe it.
Amelia watched on with horror, seeing the same people dealing with the bodies of Gura and Ina, chucking them into the back of a vehicle. Someone had come along and performed some sort of satanic or cultish spell that cast the reaper back to the Underworld, with a bout of furious curse words, Calli was gone too.
Kiara was practically dead inside, having lost three of her lovers, watching the last of them being shackled with a gun to the back of her head.
Both of them looked at each other and nodded.
Through all her restrictions, Amelia managed to get a weak grip on her pocket watch. She was sure the damn thing was cursed, always showing up one way or another, even after she left it at that beach all those years.
They would need to time this perfectly.
Amelia rewound the time, trying to fiddle with the other knobs as quickly and expertly as she could.
Kiara started letting out her pent up fire, letting it spark the grounds around her. She felt the embers sparking off her hair.
Amelia pressed down on one final knob.
Kiara let out a pained screech.
And with that they were gone, the phoenix having self destructed and the time travelling detective wound back time, abandoning this time line forever, Kiara following her.
Amelia laughed, something she thought she'd never do again. Gura took this opportunity to steal some more food off her plate, which caused Ina to laugh to. Amelia took a few seconds to admire her, the way the corners of her eyes crinkled ever so slightly, the way her eyes became mere crescents as they closed, the way her bangs would bounce softly, it was all perfect to Amelia.
Across the table, Kiara was taking up sip from Calli's milkshake, much to the reaper's faux annoyance. The phoenix saw how Amelia was staring so dreamily at Ina, and how Gura was doing something similar behind her.
Yes.
Everything was perfect.
Amelia and Kiara met each others gaze for a brief moment, thinking the exact same thing.
'I'd do anything to keep them safe'
When everything stays~
