Work Text:
It had been the first official band meeting with everyone present. They'd taken this time to get to know one another a bit more, since a few people were relatively new still. And oh yes, some unexpected truths came out.
The nine men ended up drinking, ordering pizza and just simply relaxing. Everyone knew Corey had a problem with drink, it just couldn't be helped nor prevented. He would get booze one way or another, ending up him consuming a significant amount of whiskey and coke.
They all knew how to handle him when drunk, the main issue being him running that goddamn mouth of his. It hadn't taken Chris long at all to realise why the blonde had been lumbered with the name, The Great Big Mouth. The man has no chill.
The conversation topics shifted dramatically, one minute hospital food was mentioned next childhood pets, fashion and gay people...
"Dude. Seriously drop it, I'm not gay. I just like skirts." Joey huffed, rolling his eyes.
"Of course you would say that. Look Jo, we still love you even if you're a pansy," The singer says, a chuckle following. A couple of others laughed too.
After the drummer was targeted, Chris' heart sank. He hadn't had a chance to come out yet, not that he had to. But he wanted to, before tonight.
"What'd you think Peaches?" Corey glanced over his shoulder.
Jim shrugged, "Don't bother me, I just don't understand it," He says.
Sid shifted in his seat uncomfortably, glancing around the room as the conversation continued. "Can we change the topic now?" He snapped, avoiding eye contact with anyone.
"Don't you like it Sidney? Are you— homophobic??" Corey gasped in a mocking way. He was clearly enjoying teasing the DJ, his eyes lighting up whenever he received a reaction. The blonde continued to taunt the DJ, Sid getting worked up.
"I'm not a fuckin' faggot, alright??"
The room went silent, no said a word. The only noise present being the standard clock hung up on the wall ticking. Chris took in a deep breath, silently exhaling, flicking his eyes to each person. He glanced at the singer, who began grinning, his body shifting forward.
"Sid, its okay if you are. You're not the only one." His eyes went from Sid, back to Chris. That smug smirk still lining his lips. The DJ looked up eventually, he'd calmed down slightly, shaking his head at the blonde in confusion. "What's that meant to mean?"
"Got sumn to say Chrissy?" Corey asked slyly. "I know your ex, you gonna tell 'em or am I?"
That was it. It eventually clicked in the percussionists head. He'd known Corey got about, and somehow failed to comprehend he'd got with his ex-boyfriends sister. That shitty look made the percussionist snap, "Okay, yeah I am gay. What about it?"
Looks were shared, Sids eyes softened, almost in embarrassment. The singer raised his eyebrows, "That was a lot easier then I thought-"
Eyebrows were raised for whatever reason, whether it was because Chris just came out, or the son of a bitch known as cmft was going to fucking out him.
"Any of you have a problem with it?" He asked forcefully, raging on the inside. They shook their heads immediately, never seeing Chris even slightly angry before.
"Wait- You were gonna fuckin out him!?" The DJ says angrily. "I don't give a fuck if you've been drinking Cor. You're not a fucking idiot—" Throwing a pillow at him. It made Sid wanna smash his haed against a wall.
Surprisingly, the clown didn't get involved with this one. He knew to keep quiet when Sid and Corey would argue. Simply looking to the side, sipping his whiskey.
"Hey, its okay Sid," Chris tried his best to calm his bandmate down.
"Sorry. It was only a joke," The singer huffed. The half assed apology making his fists ball up. Instead of knocking the blonde the fuck out, he stormed off outside. Slamming the door with full force. He needed a cigarette.
Plucking one out of the packet, lighting it and inhaling deeply. The door opened, too angry to look thinking it was the singer, he mumbles 'fuck off' under his breath.
"Hey man," Its Chris. A sudden guilty feeling washes over him. Turning his body to face the percussionist.
"Thanks for sticking up for me, it means a lot dude,"
He says softly, placing a gentle hand on the tattoed mans shoulder.
He squats, sitting himself next to Sid. The DJ offers him a cigarette, tilting the half empty pack towards him. Chris thanks him and lights it up, relishing the way it pacifies his nerves.
"Its okay. I'm sorry for saying, y'know. That
word-" He stutters, apologising to his shoes, apparently.
"We're good man," Chris says, a half smile lining his lips.
The DJ clears his throat, "Well, I'm bisexual if- if that makes you feel any better?-"
Almost choking on the smoke in his lungs, Chris coughs- eyebrows wavy and looking directly at the younger man. "You are?" He asks.
Sid nods, a smile growing on his face. Chris' face mimicking it. "Thats great Sid, thanks for telling me,"
He lets out a light chuckle, "Its okay man. Couldn't not tell you," A hand wraps around the DJs shoulder, bringing them together, his head resting on Chris. This simple action comforting the DJ.
Sid had finished his cigarette, flicking it onto the grass. The percussionist taking one last drag and doing the same. "Ready to go back inside?"
Lifting his head up to peer at the percussionist, his eyes flicker. "Can I, uh can I do something real quick?" Chris doesn't say anything, simply just nods. Hoping they've got the same idea.
The DJ leans in, brushing his slightly chapped lips over Chris'. A wave of relief washes over the taller man, exactly what he was hoping for.
They pull back, a smirk on Sids lips before he turns to laugh. Chris cant help but chuckle too, more of a nervous laugh then anything. I mean, the guy he's know for most of his teen years just kissed him-
Not that the percussionist had anything to complain about.
He reaches his hand out, placing his palm on the back of the DJs head, bringing their faces closer. Going back in for more, this time with a little more feeling and passion.
Chris was sweet, like he tasted naturally sweet. It complimented his personality perfectly, the man had always been a big softie. On the other hand, Sid was a bit rough, lips scratchy. The taste of tobacco on his tongue, it made the percussionist drool in an odd way.
It felt natural, the way their lips slotted perfectly. Just as satisfying as adding that missing piece of a puzzle. Everything seemed to melt away as as their bodies shifted closer, a warm palm caressing Chris' face making his anxiety fizzle away. It was perfect, Sid was perfect.
Then he stopped, pulling away. Face turning to peer at an unwelcome Corey. Before he could turn on his heel and scuttle off to blabber, Sid dived to grab his pant leg. They got up, the singers face turned away.
"Just wanted to apologise," He mumbled.
"Don't worry 'bout it Cor, 'ts okay," The percussionist says, forgiving him relatively quickly.
Sid didn't let him go just yet, although he didn't struggle or try to wriggle out of his grip. "At least look at him. Act like you mean it then." The taller man squeezed Sids hand, as if to say 'calm down now'.
The singer eventually glanced at the two men, cheeks rosy and a little flustered. "I'm. I'm sorry guys. And I uh, didn't mean to interrupt anything," A blush making its way across his nose and cheekbones.
Both men snorting as the blonde went ever redder, if that was possible. At least he wasn't a complete asshole, believe it or not, Corey did have a soft side too.
"C'mere," Sid offered, holding both arms out for a group hug. They ended up hugging it out, the blonde laughing nervously when it broke off.
The DJ and percussionist must have had some sort if weird mind reading bullshit, at the same time they both went in to kiss Corey on the cheek. Just to embarrass him, make his face flush a bit more y'know, just for fun.
All three men stood in a bit of an awkward silence, until the tattooed man playfully slapped Corey across the face. "Sid-" Chris attempting to hold back a snigger.
"Ow man-" He grunted, holding his face.
"Don't be a dick next time, yeah?" The DJ chuckled, petting his hair.
"I guess I deserve that," The singer managed to chuckle before continuing, "And uh, don't mention this to the others?"
They scoffed, Sid opening his mouth to speak. A tapping noise dragging them out of their conversation.
Curtains had been pulled back, the rest of the band up at the window, smirking. They'd been spying the entire time, Joey waving with a smug expression on his face. Paul grabbing Jims face, kissing him on the cheek in a mocking fashion. You wouldn't believe their fully grown asses weren't 12 still.
The blonde huffed, "Bastards."
The End :))
