I opened my eyes. Turning away from the middle of the bed I could see the rainy window. There were millions of droplets racing towards the bottom. I sighed and turned over to my right. There was Draco. My husband. He was delicately laid against the pillow, his long eyelashes shut. I relaxed even more as I listened to the sound of his slow breaths; watching him; taking him all in. I wanted to remember him like this forever. Beautiful. Relaxed. Happy.
I watched as he ever so softly opened his eyes. As soon as he saw me he smiled. I couldn’t help but smile back. This man always made me so giddy.
“Hey, beautiful,” he said in his deep, grumbly morning voice.
I just opened my smile even wider. His shirt was off and he was wearing a pair of pajama pants; I was wearing one of his t-shirts and a pair of briefs. I felt as Draco reached out for my face, grabbing my cheek. He rubbed his thumb back and forth on my smooth skin as I sunk into his touch, closing my eyes.
“I love you” I eventually mumbled.
“I know” I rolled my eyes at him. He pulled me even closer to his chest, and I happily snuggled into it.
I still remember the day we finally got married like it was yesterday. How could I forget it? Everyone said we were too young to get married at just 18, but after everything we experienced with the battle of Hogwarts, we didn’t want to waste any time. The conflict made us realize how quickly things could disappear, and if we were so in love, why not take the final step? Draco proposed one day after the battle was over. He invited me for a walk into the woods outside of the manor and led me into a clearing filled with candles, string lights, and roses; including an archway covered in gorgeous wildflowers and white petals layered over the ground. I could not find a way to even come close to explaining what I felt when I laid my eyes on the beautiful landscape. Draco led me through all of the flowers to the archway, where he got on one knee and presented me with a gorgeous green and silver ring.
As I laid there lost in thought about the amazing man next to me, I heard the pounding of the raindrops on the roof started to come down even harder. I let out a long sigh feeling relaxed against the chest of the man I love.
“Are you alright, my love?” Draco questioned.
“Just thinking” I gave him a cheeky grin and let myself drift back to sleep.
