Izuku? which one?

Summary:

During a life or death experience it wasn't uncommon for someone's quirk to evolve or strengthen rapidly in response. So it really wasn't a surprise for someone previously quirkless to develop one in such a situation. Knowing these things didn't make anything easier though.

neither did having a whole new person in your head, but they are going to do their best.

Notes:

Hey! just to let yall know, this is purely based on my experiences when it comes to having osdd 1b! this partly venting, partly for fun and partly my adhd brain going "ok but what if?".

be warned this isnt edited so theres probably spelling errors and its not my best writing.

yes i know he is very out of character! this is just me having fun!

that being said please enjoy!

Chapter 1: they weren't alone

Chapter Text

Izuku Midoriya was sunshine incarnate, with the brightest smile and a love for mischief and games that he got from his mom. Before the quirkless diagnosis He was known to play small, harmless pranks with his friends on everyone around him. Known as the class clown he never failed to make someone laugh, cheering people up just like All Might.

When kachan misread his name as deku (meaning useless or puppet) he just laughed and made up the deku game, he and his friends would tie bits of string into bracelets and play simon says. He was loved by all his classmates but he and Kachan were inseparable, until he was deemed actually a deku.

When he asked his mom if he could be a hero like all might his mom broke down crying whispers of “i'm sorry” breaking his heart. But his mom was honest, no, he couldn't be like all might. But he could still be a hero.

“You’ll have to work really, really hard Izuku, harder than everyone else.”

“Then Ill work even harder!” To say he was determined was an understatement.

She enrolled him in martial arts after that, and at home they played all sorts of new games! They played heist and jumpscare and espionage and It was so much fun!

He was still trying to make friends at school, but the next thing he knew no one wanted to play with him anymore. Deku used to mean fun and friends, now it meant loneliness. He could handle it for a while, sure when he was at school or the dojo things got a little fuzzy in his head but he just smiled through it. Besides, it always cleared up when he got home!

But then one day kachan decided that all he was good for was for practicing villain fights. Things got even fuzzier after that, he was still there but it felt like he was experiencing everything with a layer of plastic around his head. He hated lying to his mom about the bruises but kachan was still his friend right? He didn't want to get the other in trouble.

Then one day kachan wanted to practice his quirk, he doesn't remember a lot of what happened after the first couple of burns. All he saw was red as his body went numb, kachans eyes and the bloody burns on his skin. He doesn't know how much time passed between when school ended and he was left lying in the dirt of the nearby park.

But then something happened, there was no good way to describe it, it felt like the snap of something breaking, the click of something falling into place and the thump of landing on something soft all at once.

His eyes opened, when had they closed? There was a dark blue soothing glow around him, it felt clean. He raised a hand in front of his face and watched the burns heal and fade into pink scars. He blinked, wasn't he quirkless?

He sat up and looked around, no one was near him. Everything felt more real, but different? Well, at least it was safe to say he wasn't quirkless anymore, and that kachan definitely wasn't his friend. He thought that maybe he should feel some kind of shock or surprise, but all he felt was acceptance.

He felt the last of the burns heal and the glow fade as he stood up. How long had he been out of school? Crap he needed to get home. Grabbing his bag and putting it on he noticed he was still covered in drying blood and extremely burnt cloths, he’d have to be careful getting home so he wasn't seen or cause a fuss. Oh, like in the heist game! Man, his mom was smart.

He decided that the question of why he felt weirdly disconnected from the memories would have to wait.

Luckily it worked, he walked in the front door without being seen. Oh crap what about mom? She should know right? What was he going to say? The door closed behind him.

“Izuku! Your home late!” His mom called out, walking around the corner to greet him. “What- Izuku!? Baby what happened!! Was their a villain?” She rushed over and belt in front of him, frantically but gently looking him over.

He tried to talk, but nothing came out. He could talk, he knew that, and their was nothing wrong with his throat outside of being a little thirsty. Mom watched concerned as his mouth opened and closed, progressively more frustrated as nothing came out.

“Its alright, don't force yourself. Lets get you cleaned up and then ill get you a pen and paper ok?” He nodded and set his bag down as he was guided into the bathroom.

After he scrubbed off all the soot and dried blood and got into some comfy clean clothes, the two of them sat on the couch with glasses of water and a pad of paper between them. He explained as best he could in his sloppy handwriting and they both cried.

“Well, if you have a new quirk i guess that explains why your eyes are blue now.” She tried to joke but he only looked at her surprised.

He ran into the bathroom to look and sure enough, his eyes had turned from their emerald to a dark royal blue. He wrote everything down in a new notebook excitedly as the night went on. They decided that she would talk to the school and auntie and uncle, kachan would have to go to therapy and anger management on top of probably getting expelled. He would get therapy himself as well as quirk counselling.

He had managed to figure out how to turn his new quirk on and off to show his mom. Needless to say they both cried some more.

As they ate dinner he decided that everything was going to be ok.

He woke up the next morning with his normal spring in his step. Wait a second, he felt like he was forgetting something. What happened after he got out of school yesterday?

He looked around the room and when he spotted the new notebook on his desk it all came back to him. That's right he had a quirk!

Holy crap he had a quirk.

But why did none of those memories feel like him? He didn't quite understand the new feeling, it had to have been him right? But then why was it that the fuzziness was their when he remembered it when he was sure it wasn't there in the moment?

He hummed, oh well, he'd ask mom about it. Oh wait! He gasped.

            “I can talk again!” cool!

He changed out of his pajamas and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth, he stood up on his step stool, put the toothpaste on his toothbrush, looked in the mirror and- wow! His eyes were back to green!

He hurriedly brushed his teeth so he could go show his mom, but as he stumbled off the stool he fell. Wincing he sat down to look at the bruise on his knee. Oh wait he could just heal himself now right?

He stuck his tongue out in concentration as he held his hands over his knee (forgetting that, that wasn't really how the quirk worked) and pulled at the feeling in the back of his head. Instead of the soothing blue glow, lightly glowing green strings shot out from his fingertips and wrapped themselves around his leg.

Whoa, did his quirk change? That's so cool! Would it change tomorrow too? He tried to unwrap the strings from his leg, it took a couple tries but he found he could control them through the feeling in the back of his head. Like extra long fingers!

He sat there and just giggled for a bit, making the green strings wiggle like worms before remembering that he wanted to show his mom. He got up and rushed out of the room and towards where he could hear his mom cooking.

“Mom! Mom look!” he shouted excitedly, stopping just outside the kitchen. Scooching back a few inches to make sure he was.

“What is is baby?” she sat down the cooking chopsticks and turned towards him.

            “My quirk changed!”

“Oh! Well then what did it change to?”

“I got strings coming out of my fingers!”

“Well that's wonderful! Can you show me more in a bit? Its time for breakfast!”

“Ok!” he stared at the strings, nothing happened. “I don't know how.”

It took a couple of attempts, but he eventually figured out he just had to make the strings shrink into his fingers. Thank goodness it was the weekend.

After breakfast he went and listened to music while he updated his notebook while his mom made the phone calls they talked about the night before. Not hearing the argument his mom had with the school.

Then since yesterday was stressful his mom put on his favorite all might movie! While his mom set up some appointments on the computer he was enraptured in the movie like always, quoting almost every line with a little more added drama and having fun.

But then there was a really big explosion on the tv, he never had problems with explosions before. He flinched violently and everything went really fuzzy, way fuzzier than usual. he could hear and see but nothing was registering. Something wanted to change, he didn't know what, he was a little scared.

It was his mom putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder that got him to let go and let the change happen. He felt weirdly safe.

---

Inko Midoriya watched worriedly as her son disassociated. Her attention was drawn at the flinch and frankly she felt like an idiot, of course he would have issues with explosions now! What was she thinking! She never wanted to punch a kid before but she couldn't help but briefly imagine her fist and young katsuki’s face. They where only six for gods sake!

“Izuku?” she tried to get his attention, but when that didn't work she put a hand on his shoulder, hoping it was reassuring.

Izuku closed his eyes for a second, and when his eyes opened they were the same shade of blue as the day before. He activated his quirk, seemingly on reflex but instead of the strings from that morning it was the familiar dark blue glow.

She noticed that the papercut she had gotten that morning as it was caught in the light. Noted, but now was not the time.

He looked around, seemingly catching his bearings before recognition flashed in his eyes. He turned off his quirk and looked up at her.

“Izuku?” she tried again. He opened and closed his mouth, nothing seeming to come out.

What could- oh, she thinks she knows what was happening. One of her professors in college had D.I.D (her favorite class to be honest) and the look on her son's face matched theirs when someone new fronted almost perfectly.

“Its ok, you dont have to say anything baby.” she reassured him. It seemed that whoever her newest son (daughter? child?) was, they were mute.

“I think we should take some sign language classes together, what do you think?”

They looked a little relived and nodded.

Well, it was time to take care of her new kid.

Chapter Text

After “the incident” a lot of things changed, for the better mostly! But it was still an adjustment. They started going to therapy to help getting used to things and to help work through some of the things going on in their head.

As it turned out they did have D.I.D., well kinda. They got diagnosed with OSDD 1b, which was kinda the same but the difference was they could share memories! It definitely helped in keeping it a secret.

Well, it wasn't like they were against telling anyone, it's just, people already reacted badly to when they were originally diagnosed as quirkless. How would they react to “Izuku” being more than one person?

They decided that they would both be “Izuku” but with separate names too! They debated for a long time what their names were going to be, but in the end decided to just name themselves after their quirk colors, Green and Blue.

Their quirk registry got updated and they started working a little with a quirk counselor! Not like the professional had to do much. They had already started a notebook filled with questions and observations. She just had to make sure they didn't hurt themselves testing them out.

Their quirk was called “different glow” depending on who was out the glow that showed up when they activated their quirk changed color and did different things! It also had the bonus that their eyes permanently faintly glowed, allowing them to see in the dark!

Green absolutely took advantage of it and startled mom in the middle of a power outage.

A week after “the incident” Kac- Katsuki got expelled, his parents putting him in a new, stricter school. Green still felt upset over the whole thing, he really thought they were friends. Blue was just upset.

They tried to stay at the same school for a while, Blue being the one out, but too many kids either didn't apologize for the bullying or just ignored him altogether. Blue being mute seemed to almost push people away as well.

They were taken out of Martial arts and moved to online defense classes with mom for that reason, and sign language thanks to mom picking her career as a lawyer back up. But they were also moved to a new school since she was worried about them making friends.

Their first day at the new school happened shortly after their seventh birthday.

Blue made sure he packed everything before he left, including his whiteboard and extra markers. The teachers already knew he was mute, so he didn't have to worry about getting in trouble for it.

When he got to the new school (after a half hour on the train because of how far away it was) he sat down after being introduced and tried to focus on classes. The subtle stares were not helpful but oh well, it wasn't the first time.

As soon as the break between classes hit his desk was crowded. Everyone introduced themselves and gawked over the fact he couldn't talk. It was starting to get on his nerves.

“Wait! But that makes him immune to Shinso’s quirk!” a girl announced. He tilted his head in confusion.

“Hes the one with the purple hair, if you respond to him he can take control of you!” one of the boys whispered to him, like he was scared he would be heard.

Blue zoned out of their conversation after that. That quirk was really cool! If shinso wanted to be a hero he’d be amazing underground! Hostage situations? Over in 5 minutes. Hell any villain would turn themselves in with a quirk like that! Would it work with sign language or just vocal response?

It was decided, he was going to make a friend.

He had to wait until lunch since the other was in a different class, but once the bell rang blue grabbed his bento and started looking in classrooms.

He found him in the back of the classroom a hallway down, excitedly he walked over to the desk in front of Shinso, sat down at the desk in front of him and took out his whiteboard.

“Hi! My name is Izuku Midoriya and I'm mute! Do you wanna be friends?” he wrote and showed the other.

            Shinso narrowed his eyes.

“Do you know what my quirk is?” he asked, his voice laced with suspicion.

            He nodded.

“So you only want to be my friend because you’re immune to my quirk.” the other continued through lightly gritted teeth. Well this didn't go as planned.

“No, your quirk is cool! If i could talk i would still want to be your friend!” he wrote, words and body language insistent.

“I don't believe you. And I don't want to be friends just cuz you're immune.” Shinso glared.

Oh, he was bullied too hu? Well now he felt stupid. But how could he make him believe that he just wanted to be friends because he sounded cool? Tell him about how he used to be quirkless? But he wouldn't believe that. Show him the burn scars? But that wouldn't really prove he wasn't scared.

Maybe he could let green out? It was risky, really risky. He could feel his skin crawl from the memories of past bullying. But Shinso wouldn't do that right? He didn't really want to take the risk but if he didn't he wouldn't make a friend. He missed having friends.

When he finally got out of his own head he noticed that hes been in a staring contest for the past minute. Oops. he blinks and holds up a finger in the universal sign on “wait a minute”. Shinso looks confused as he closes his eyes and focuses.

Green felt himself be pulled to the surface.

He blinks his eyes open and looks around as blues memories cloud his head for a second. Oh they were going to make a friend! Cool! Ok, how should he go about this?

“HI!” he announced. Oops, he didn't mean to talk before he made a plan.

“What?! I thought you were mute?” Shinso questioned. Ah, right, he should probably explain that.

“Well, that's a little complicated.” he admitted, “you have the patience to sit through a story?”

            “Yea,” the other blinked, confused.

So green explained how he was originally quirkless, how things changed, how who he thought was his friend almost killed him, and how he both got a quirk and a new friend that lives in his head.

There was a pause after the story finished, Shinso staring at the desk as he processed the new information.

“Holy crap. I uh, I'm sorry for snapping I guess. Er i should apologize to, blue, right?” the brainwasher stuttered nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

“It's cool, he already forgave you!”

“Cool.” he paused, “that's uh, that's crazy. How does that work? I mean, you don't have to answer if that's insensitive!”

“It's ok!” green laughed, “we switch out just kinda as things happen, blue handles school and i'm usually just out at home.”

            “Huh, cool.”

“So, friends? It's a two for one deal!”

            “Yea,” Shinso chuckled, “sounds good.”

Chapter Text

Green and mom were both working at the coffee table that night, him on his next hero analysis and her with some work related emails. Shinso had seen one of the notebooks and asked for something on his favorite hero Eraserhead, It was a hero they had never heard about so they jumped at the chance.

There wasn't a lot of material to work with so Green was busy scouring the internet for everything he could find. With headphones in, the only noise in the room was the clicking of keyboards and the scratch of pencil on paper.

The Midoriyas were hard at work with nothing else scheduled, so it was weird when they heard a knock on the door.

Mom looked through the peephole curiously, then flinched back in alarm.

“Go to your room, quickly!” she signed quickly to him, back pressed to the door.

            “Mom?” he signed back, worried.

“NOW” her movements left no room for argument.

He ran down the hall and into his room, leaving the door ajar. A loud bang rang throughout the apartment, loud shouting following immediately after.

Green didn't hear it clearly though, disassociating as the other demanded to be out. He fought against the switch for a second, too scared to think clearly. He gave up easily after another loud bang sounded from the living room.

----

Blue opened his eyes and immediately searched through Green's memories for why he was so panicked. Someone was here.

“-YOU UNGRATEFUL BITCH!” yelled a man's voice.

Mom was in danger. Without thinking, he rushed out of his room.

She was lying on the ground with a black eye forming and a red hand print on the other cheek. He runs over and touched her face with hands surrounded in a blue glow. When had he turned his quirk on?

“So this is him hu? Useful quirk.” the man's voice may have been quieter but it was no less angry.

“You stay away.” mom growled, moving an arm between them.

“Or what? You’ll kill me?” steam fell from the intruder's nose. The older midoriya grit her teeth.

The man kicked her and blue jumped in between, clutching onto his leg shouting for him to stop. He threw him off and kicked him when he tried to get up.

            No.

The man walked back over to mom, more and more steam coming from his mouth and nose.

            “Now where were we?”

            No!

“Oh right,” he kicks her violently in the stomach.

            This wasn't fair!

“You STOLE WHAT WAS MINE-” another kick.

            This wasn't fair!

“-AND YOU LEFT ME TO FEND FOR MYSELF-” at the next kick tears start to fall from moms eyes.

            IT WASN’T FAIR!

            The world hazed over.

“-WHEN I NEEDED YOU!” She covered her face with her arms as fire started to spill from the villain's mouth.

----

Yellow eyes flickered into existence, anger shooting through their veins.

As the fire got closer to mom they pulled on the feeling in the back of their mind. Raging orange fire turns yellow and stops, and flexing now part of their quirk they send it back, aiming for the eyes.

A look of surprise morphs into pain as the villain staggers back and screams. The villains hands reach up on instinct to burning eye sockets, desperately trying to stop the attack.

Then just as quickly as the ordeal started, the intruder blacks out from the pain.

They turn to their mom panting with exhaustion and look in her shocked green eyes.

            “Are you ok?” they ask.

A beat passes, then the world fades out and they pass out too.

Chapter Text

They woke up to beeping, faint murmured voices and a bright light on the other side of their eyelids. Where were they?

They struggled to open their eyes and only managed to crack them open before the light blinded them. Ok, just have to go with what their other senses for now. Groggily they start to wake up and become aware of the world.

There was a very present smell of cleaning supplies, beeping coming from their left, quiet chatter from further left that was muffled. Through a door or wall maybe? There was a light blanket over them with arms laying over, and was there something on their finger?

Fighting passed the bone deep exhaustion they managed to move the finger. Yea there was definitely something there. None of this situation really felt familiar so where?

They searched through the slightly hazy memories that they were able to access for anything that would give them a clue.

Oh, right, they were new. The memories weren’t theirs and the body they were in originally belonged to “Green” and “Blue”. Well at least they now knew that they where in a hospital.

But, in that case who were they? Sure they were an alter, the color yellow sounded like a deep and ingrained feeling constantly in their head. But who were they outside of that?

They reached for the most recent memory, oh it was theirs!

Oh. that's right! Shit was mom ok?!

Abruptly they tried to sit up, beeping getting a little faster as their eyes flew open only to flinch and close them at the still to bright light of the room. This time they slowly squinted their eyes open to get used to the light. It looked like a plane hospital room but with cartoon animals on the wallpaper, and on the chair to the right was mom's purse.

They looked over as the door opened and a nurse walked into the room.

“Oh!” the nurse startled as she looked up from her clipboard, “Midoriya your awake! Good! Its nice to finally meet you! My name is Abiko, Give me just a second.” she walked up to the computer by the heart monitor and typed something out.

After that she went through a series of questions and basic tests, asking how they felt and what year it was. It was all just a bit overwhelming. The door opens again while they were getting their blood pressure.

“Mom! Are you ok?!” they ask hurriedly as said mother drops her styrofoam cup of coffee.

“Izuku!” she shouts in happy surprise, immediately rushing over to pull them into a hug, “my baby i was so worried! Do you feel alright? You fainted after… and I thought you had gotten seriously hurt i was so scared!” she questioned, tears already leaking out of the corners of her eyes.

The nurse looked at the coffee spill in a mix of amusement and exasperation.

“I'm just a little tired mom, are you ok?” they asked again.

“Yes i'm fine, It’ll take more than a cracked rib to put me out of commission.” she joked. They felt a bit more worried but decided to trust their mom and dropped it.

“Who was that?” they changed the subject.

“Ah,” she seemed to deflate a bit, ”Ill, tell you once all the tests are done.”

So they waited patiently and when the nurse Abiko left the room half an hour later they turned to her expectantly. She sighed and seemed to settle into the chair her purse was.

“His name is Hisashi,” she began, ”we met about nine years ago. He was so charming at the time, full of laughter and so polite. We started dating, and unfortunately that politeness only lasted so long. He always had a temper but i thought it was ok, that he didn't mean it. He, he hit me, but i was young and dumb and thought it was fine since i could handle it.”

She let out another sigh as they just stared at her. It wasn't right. They pushed down a wave of anger and forced their attention away from their own thoughts.

“I found I was pregnant with all of you a little bit after the one year anniversary.” she continued, “I knew he would treat you the same way and I could not in good conscience let that happen. So I ran, I made it so long without him finding us that I thought he’d never… I'm sorry Izuku. I'm just glad we’re safe now. He's in jail now. The trial happened while you were asleep.”

That, was a lot to unpack.

“How long have i been asleep?” they asked hesitantly.

“A week, they say it was massive amounts of quirk exhaustion. They don't think your quirk was supposed to go that far.”

“Oh. ok then.” they stared down at the blanket covering their legs. Mom pursed her lips in silent worry.

“You'll be here for a little while longer to make sure you’re ok. For now let's get something to eat.” she grabbed the call nurse button and asked for the menu.

Well, at least they knew that they didn't like hospital food.

Chapter Text

To say things were easy would be a lie. Sure things weren't easy when blue first showed up either but blue and green already had similar personalities. Incorporating Yellow into everyday life while also helping them with their sense of identity would be difficult enough, but yellow had a strong sense of justice that couldn't be contained.

School was a struggle, with every snide whisper or offhand comment about them or Shinso Yellow demanded to be let out. They couldn't just let things happen. It lead to quite a few arguments between the three of them, rapidly switching out to to think or yell angrily at each other.

Fortunately they had people on the outside to support them. Mom would help calm things down at home, their therapist would help them work through their problems and while they had only known Shinso for a couple of months, he was quickly becoming their best friend.

Eventually they came to an agreement, blue would be the only one out at school but anything outside was fair game for yellow to intervene as long as it didn't get them hurt or in trouble.

Mom started them up with the quirk counselor again and being passed out for that long now made sense. Normally quirk exhaustion would only leave you out of commission for a day or two, but it turned out that in order to save mom, yellow forced their quirk in ways that would normally be deemed impossible.

Blue had healing, green had strings and yellow had bright shining fire that they could control. When they activated their quirk a yellow flame would appear on them that they could even turn cold if they wanted it, but they could only control their fire. Sure they could turn any outside flame into their own but they had to touch it first.

Turning an outside flame into their own and then controlling it at a distance? When the quirk was only newly developed? It was no wonder it took a week.

Progress was slow going but after months of work things were finally starting to become some semblance of normal. The games green used to play with mom got started up again, she confessed that she originally started the games as a way to help train green when he was still quirkless.

After hearing that they demanded to play them again, and it was a lot of fun!

Their favorite was the heist game, they had to sneak through either the apartment or the park to take a toy from under moms watch and they couldn't get caught.

Playing also gave the added bonus of learning how to work together better. Learning how to switch out quickly to whoever did that task the best and searching through the shared “memory bank” quicker than ever.

Of course they failed miserably the first couple of times, either getting into petty arguments or just falling on their face mid step because of a switch. But once they figured things out they became unstoppable.

(no we are not talking about the time blue hid in the school vents so that they wouldn't get in trouble because yellow broke the rules to punch someone. It didn't happen. nope.)

Shinso had heard of yellow, green had a little bit of a breakdown when they went back to school and spilled the whole story at lunch.

They could tell at first the other kid didn't trust them, always waiting for the other shoe to drop. But as weeks turned into months Hitoshi learned that it was never going to happen.

(especially when yellow, someone he still technically never met, punched someone in the face because the bully had been shouting slurs at him. Except of course it never happened. Nope. (it absolutely did.))

It was an added bonus that they both knew sign to some extent, it turned out that one of his friends dads was mute. It made for really good practice.

Then one day they invited Hitoshi over for a sleepover.

Blue patiently waited for his friend to stop blinking at him after he signed his question.

“You, want me to have a sleepover?” the brainwasher asked hesitantly.

            Blue nodded excitedly.

            “At your house?”

            He just continued to nod.

            “But why?”

“because we’re friends and friends have sleepovers!” He signed in response.

Hitoshi couldn't argue with that logic.

“Ok, ill have to ask my dads first, and their gonna want to meet your mom.”

“Thats ok, she’s probably going to want them to stay for dinner anyway!” Blue responded excitedly, hands moving almost too fast to understand.

Hitoshi just gives a nervous smile.

Sure enough, the next night mom insisted they all have dinner to get to know each other. They decided it would be best for green to be out, since blue was tired from school and yellow would probably pick a fight.

He answered the door with a bright grin and welcomed them in, showing them to the dining table as mom was finishing up.

Hitoshi’s two dads introduced themselves as Aizawa and Yamada, explaining that when they got married and later adopted they each decided to keep their names.

Aizawa was tall with black hair and very familiar for a reason green couldn't place. Yamada was also tall, with long blond hair and a very, very familiar voice. But why couldn't he place either of them?

Green tried to put it out of his head and just focus on the dinner.

As they ate their katsudon they exchanged pleasantries and small talk, mom talking about an old case she won and easily catching the other adults in her story. Though Aizawa seemed to be content just to sit back and listen, leaving the talking to his husband.

“WOW that's Amazing!” yamada exclaimed, “you must be unstoppable in court!”

“Well i wouldn't say that.” she said, trying to hide her look of mischief with a sip of tea.

“So little dude, you wanna be a lawyer like your mom? From what Hitoshi’s told us you DEFINITELY got the brains for it!” the blond asked.

“Nope! I'm gonna be a hero!” he announced, “i've always wanted to help people and what's a better way to do it then to make sure the villains don't hurt anyone else?! Besides, I've seen the all-nighters mom pulls, no thanks!”

Everyone chuckled while the adults shared a look.

“Well ya know, we’re pro heros ourselves!” Yamada stage whispered.

“Really!! So that's why you look so familiar!”

“So you DID recognize us! Im PRESENT MIC! Pro hero and radio host extraordinaire!”

“Holy crap! That's so cool! I tune into your show every week! Not to mention your take downs tend to be so quick!”

Fortunately Hitoshi pinched him under the table to stop him from going into an embarrassing mumble rant. Fortunately the loud hero only laughed. Hu, he must have been intentionally keeping his volume low.

“YEP! And this guy’s Eraserhead! I'm betting you know about him!” he joked, sending a look at his son.

“Oh wow! You-” suddenly everything stopped. Green’s eyes went unfocused as memories suddenly flooded his mind. He wasn't at the dinner anymore, he was sitting at the coffee table before the attack.

He had written a full page and a half before the knock on the door. He’d watched the same shaky video over and over again to make sure the details were right.

A sense of dread loomed over him, no, no it couldn't happen again. What if yellow wasn't there to help this time? What if blue couldn't heal mom fast enough? What if she didn't get back up?

He could faintly hear mom in the background explaining something.

Right, that was right, he was at dinner. Shit he was having a panic attack.

More voices started talking, trying to get his attention. But he couldn't see the table or the food, all he could see was mom's panicked face and Hisashis anger, The smoke.

Right, ok, who was better at dealing with panic attacks? Blue, right, blue would help.

He took a deep breath, and let go.

---

Blue came to the front and was immediately flooded with panic.

Fuck, what happened? It was just supposed to be dinner!

He started to take deep breaths, focusing on the feeling of the chair under his hands, the smell of katsudon, the light pull of gravity on his feet. Slow breaths. It's ok. We’re safe.

He slowly opened his eyes, looking down at his pants, the table, his bowl, his hands.

Looking up in front of him he saw concerned red eyes.

“Hey kid,” the black haired man said in a gruff but soothing voice, “you there?”

Blue looked at him for a second before nodding.

“Good, can you tell me where you are right now?”

He looked around and started signing, “I'm in my apartment. There's katsudon on the table and I have a glass of milk. Hitoshi is next to me, and mom is standing on my other side. Hitoshi’s dads are here.”

            “Good, that's good kid.”

Now that he was calm enough he looked through green's memories of the dinner to see what happened.

            Oh, alright. That makes sense.

“Look, i'm sorry. I didn't mean to set off an attack. Are you ok? Do you need me to leave the room?” Eraserhead asked.

That was probably the last thing blue wanted him to do. Eraserhead was a hero, a good hero. He’s safe.

            Honestly? Blue was still scared.

Tears started to pool in his eyes as he launched off the chair to hug his friend's dad like a lifeline, nearly knocking the man over from where he was kneeling in front of him.

Aizawa hesitantly hugged him back, letting him cry it out.

Once all the tears had left his eyes and the Adrenalin left his body, he let his eyes droop. Absolutely exhausted after the day, he fell asleep still clinging to the hero.

Very vaguely, he noticed that he was picked up, carried to bed, and tucked in. The rest of them watch worriedly and whispering to each other by the door.

Chapter Text

Hey! not a chapter! just wanted everyone to know that updates are going to be a bit late for a while!

i wont go into to much detail but a lot of stuff came up: brand new alter that doesn't know how to function, the sudden and crippling realization that we where probably neglected as a kid, family drama involving adultery and weapons (i live in america you can probably guess what kind), school, and grandpas sudden illness.

So, i promise that this fic isn't abandoned and i will update! its just going to take a bit of time while we try to figure some stuff out!!

but in the meantime i have a question for everyone:

so as you all probably know/guessed, this story is loosely based off of our experiences as an osdd 1b system and how we came to be,

should we include the whole system in this or stop after the first 4-5? (there are 7 of us now)

let us know in the comments!!! and we hope y'all have a wonderful day!

Chapter Text

It wasn't until a week later that they had their sleepover, Hitoshi was nervous, but excited!

During that week he saw blue out at school like normal, but it looked like yellow was trying to come out a lot.

It made sense when he thought about it, if they remembered the attack that yellow came from then they would want to be out to protect the others. It was still really weird to watch the two flicker and fight to be out though.

He was coming to terms with the fact that this weird 3 in 1 person (people?) was here to stay. Though as green would say, weirdos gotta stick together.

Though it was still taking a while to accept that he had friends now.

He had grown up in a place where no one wanted him, with muzzles and trackers in his clothing instead of warm greetings and hugs.

When he finally escaped and consequently adopted by his dads things got better. He didn't have to ration his food or brase to get hit at home, but that didn't change the fact that people didn't like him.

But now he was being invited to his first sleepover! With his first real friends! If it was anyone but Izuku he would think it was a trap.

He knew better though, Green always somehow knew how to make him smile and helped him with homework.

Blue was quiet but kind, always lending an ear if he wanted to rant and offering him a warm shoulder to cry on when he got flashbacks. (they didn't happen much anymore fortunately. There was only so many times they could hide in the closet in the middle of school.)

Then Yellow, who despite only knowing him through the others' memories, forced their way out to punch one of his frequent tormentors. Hard.

He knew he could trust his swiss army knife of a friend group and it felt good. Scary, but good.

As soon as they rounded the corner away from the school and towards the midoriya apartment at the end of the day Yellow was out and as energetic as ever. So as they walked they went on a very animated rant about the take down his favorite hero, Miriko, did yesterday.

He listened quietly, enjoying the story as buildings passed. Yellows bright eyes darting around like ping pong balls from him, to the side walk, to the signs, to the sky and back to him.

Yellow tended to be pretty scatterbrained, but vigilant. He felt oddly safer when they where out.

They arrived at the apartment and he had barely any time to take off his shoes before he was being dragged to “Izuku’s” room. yellow briefly yelled to their mom that they were home, getting a feint response from the kitchen.

His friends room looked like a hero shrine, posters everywhere, figurines on every flat surface, and hero merch taking up every inch. He didn't think there was a single plain pencil in the holder.

He walked over to the futon on the floor and set his things on top, taking out his teddy bear and setting it on the pillow.

“Ok, ok, you can put your stuff wherever, blue set up the futon this morning! I hope your ok with the present mic sheets, we figured they would be ok! Thank god we did our homework already, i'm so excited i cant focus! Oh right! What do you want to do?! I've got a lot of ideas but we figured you’d decide, you wanna play a game? Or watch a movie? Or paint our nails? Or play cards? Oh! I learned this cool card game yesterday where-”

He cut off the others exited rambles before they ended up doing nothing all night.

“Maybe we should eat first? I'm kinda hungry and lunch today wasn't very good.”

“Right! Mom was cooking when we came in! Lets go see!”

With that he was once again being dragged. He didn't mind, Yellow ran a little warmer than the rest and the pressure on his hand (not his wrist) was comforting.

He was let go when they reached the living room and he walked calmly after the literal, and slightly violent, embodiment of sunshine. who before he could blink was already in the doorway and hopping in place as they asked what was for dinner.

The smell of pork and rice wafted into his face as he put a hand on Yellows shoulder to try and calm the rapid bouncing a little. It had no effect.

“Well Yamada-san said Hitoshi was alright with katsudon so i figured it was a safe option.” miss Inko said with a hint of amusement.

Yellow let out an exited cheer, hands raised above his head before once again dragging him, this time to the dinner table.

He set his head on the table while looking at the other who was somehow still bouncing while continuing his rant about miriko, he made a comment or two but was mostly content with listening to the hyper yet calming voice.

About a minute later miss inko came out with the food, and while it was delicious the two struggled to get yellow to eat with his mouth closed.

After that they decided to paint each others nails while watching a classic All Might movie.

He chose black nail polish, the first couple of nails looked good since the other was trying really hard to focus, to the point where his tongue stuck out. But after the movie started the rest of his nails came out pretty messy. It wasn't bad but it was kinda funny to watch his friend get distracted.

He did better with yellows nails (in his opinion) who wouldn't choose a color and decided to go with the pretty holographic polish.

After the movie was done they had a very careful game of Uno while their nails dried. They mostly succeeded in keeping the cards clean but there was now a very shiny plus 4 somewhere in the deck.

Next they played what was apparently a shortened version of the heist game Izuku keeps talking about.

They both started in the living room, needing to somehow get to the laundry room in the lower level in the building without getting seen.

They both walked quietly down the stairs, trying not to make a sound. But then when they got to the door Yellow gestured to a decent sized vent next to it. When they got to the other side it turned out his friend was right, miss Inko was guarding the door.

They looked around the room for the sparkly pink fake coin they where supposed to take and found it laying in the middle of the room on the table, that was in plain sight of miss Inko.

After heading back to the top of the stairs to make a plan he learned that usually the fake coin was under on of the machines or in their laundry. He was glad they where doing the easy version.

They had Yellow make a distraction in the stairwell while he, very nervously, grabbed the coin, very quietly, booked it out of there.

They both ended up getting caught and losing but it was still a fun game.

Back in the apartment they played one last game of go fish before finally going to bed at nine.

When Hitoshi woke up in the middle of the night it wasn't because of a nightmare for once. No, he felt weirdly cold and lonely. Normally hugging his comfort bear was enough but no matter how he tossed and turned he couldn't get rid of the feeling.

He rolled over again, seemingly no able to get comfortable and was met with sleepy glowing green eyes. He startled for a moment before realizing that it was just green.

“Cant sleep?” came the quiet voice on the bed.

“No, not really…” he responded, clearly more awake sounding.

Without a word green lifted his covers and gestured him in.

“Cuddles always help me sleep.” was the response when Hitoshi gave him a confused look.

He thought about it for a moment, he didn't want to impose but cuddles did sound really good right now.

He gave in climbing up onto the bed, not realizing he left his bear, and cuddled up to his friend. They clung together like koalas, absorbing the others warmth and relaxing into the mattress.

It wasn't long before he fell into a dreamless and comforting sleep.
