Chapter Text
Silence filled the streets on the outskirts of Musutafu. The night was still fairly young as the streetlamps dimly lit the dark streets. It seemed peaceful, not a car or person in sight. Just pure silence.
At least that was until the sound of pounding footsteps echoed through the street, and a man wrapped in a hooded black cloak raced through the dark alleys in an attempt to flee from his pursuers. His breathing was heavy, the fear of being caught running through his mind. And he could hear them gaining on him from behind.
He turned another corner just as his pursuers had caught sight of him once more.
“Riko give me a lift.” A man with dark purple hair commanded the girl. An irritated growl leaving his lips, just give it up already , he thought. No one has ever managed to escape successfully from their group, and no measly man was going to be the first.
The girl grinned, saluting him playfully, “Aye, aye, Raidon.” She replied, controlling strong gusts of wind to carry both her and Raidon up and after the man.
“Hey! Riko, what about me!” Another man with silver hair and golden eyes, dressed in dark green appeared from behind, chasing after the two. Green electricity crackling around his form.
Suddenly he was caught off-balanced as another figure flew past him, riding on the back of a skeleton pegasus. “Try to keep up, Kaito!” He cackled, his long red coat flowing behind him with the wind.
“Kyoshi!” Kaito whined irritably, a huff leaving his lips as he crossed his arms over his chest. “This is so not fair! She let Raidon get a lift, why not me?!”
“That’s because Raidon’s her favorite.”
He let out a yelp in surprise, turning his head to see who had crept up behind him. “Oh, Shiro, it’s just you.” He let out a dramatic sigh, placing a hand over his pounding heart.
Shiro simply rolled his eyes, too tired to deal with his simpleton of a comrade. “Come on, we should get going. I know you hate missing out on the fun.”
Kaito nodded and the two of them began jogging after them, attempting to catch up to the trio before they successfully captured the man they were in pursuit of. It was their first time back on the field after two weeks, all of them were excited to get back into the action.
__________
The competition between them spiked higher than usual due to being away from the scene for so long. The man they were after was named Hayate Arai, his quirk was Blinding. Blinding gives him the ability to blind anyone he looks at, so long as they're in his line of sight, they won't be able to see a thing. The weakness? He's outnumbered, by a lot, and he can only have one target at a time.
Raidon was at the front, leading the chase, thanks to Riko who followed shortly behind him. Kyoshi was on their tails, seated on his skeleton pegasus.
“Y’know, Kyoshi, out of all the quirks I’m pretty sure yours is the one that really goes against any and all laws of physics.” He called out from the front, glancing behind him at the man. “It’s quite interesting.”
"Well, quirks generally go against all laws of physics if you really think about it. It's all practically magic!" Riko pointed out, shouting over the roaring winds.
Kyoshi nodded in agreement, “Smart girl.” He grinned.
They were slowly catching up to Hayate when he suddenly turned a corner. “Gotcha.” Riko whispered under her breath, an excited grin stretching across her face.
What Hayate wasn’t aware of, was that the alley he had just turned to, was a dead end. She knew this because Raidon was constantly pushing her to memorize maps of the entire city, claiming that ‘it’s useful knowledge’ which it was.
A knowing smile formed on Raidon’s lips, “Good girl.” He praised her.
They had him backed into a corner and he turned around, his eyes landing on Raidon who he had assumed was the leader, blinding him. But that's where he made his next mistake, there was no leader present.
He knew his quirk was probably useless against them and he had no weapons, so naturally, his only option was to try and run past them. However, just as he moved to take another step, he was forcefully pushed back into the wall by strong gusts of wind, courtesy of Riko.
His eyes were forced shut and she took the opportunity to tie him up with a few ropes she found lying around, leaving him completely defenseless and unable to escape as he sat on the ground in defeat. She then grabbed a worn-out and torn-up shirt from the garbage bin by the corner, using it as a blindfold.
“That’s one more capture point for me!” Riko announced, a wide grin on her face as she mentally tallied their scores for this month.
Kyoshi began approaching Hayate, the skeleton pegasus he was riding on earlier had disappeared, and in its place, the usual skeleton rat that he always played with. “Hayate Arai,” He started, his pace was slow and steady. “You’ve been on our list for quite some time now.”
"Notorious for theft," Raidon continued, wiping his eyes using the back of his gloved hand as he readjusted to the light. "Multiple cases of aggravated assault, and thirteen cases of murder."
Hayate spat at Kyoshi's shoes, glaring up at the tall man. Kyoshi merely raised a brow, unbothered by his puny glare but more so irritated at his now dirty shoe. Without warning, he shifted his weight and lifted his leg, kicking Hayate's face in a swift and fluid motion. The top of his shoe grazed Hayate's cheek, just where he spat. “How filthy.” He growled.
“Kyoshi-”
Hayate shouted fearfully as he backed into the alleyway, attempting to get away from Kyoshi. "This is assault!"
"And Battery!" Kaito jumped out of nowhere, swinging a powerful punch and knocking him out. "That's a knockout point for me!" He declared, grinning joyously.
Kyoshi rolled his eyes, him being the only one to notice Kaito's rather strange statement with 'Battery' being his alias. "How corny."
"You sure took your sweet time," Raidon stated, raising a brow at him.
"She refused to give me a lift." Kaito let out a whine, one hand pointing at Riko and the other clenched over his chest dramatically.
Raidon gave her a questioning look but she simply shrugged. "I don't like him."
"How dare you!" He growled playfully before lunging at her.
He successfully tackled her to the ground as she let out a shriek, sending ticklish zaps of electricity to her weak spots. She couldn't contain her laughter as she tried prying him off her.
"Help me!" She managed to choke out while laughing.
Kyoshi simply looked at the two before shrugging and turning his back on them, opting to converse with Shiro who had also appeared shortly after Kaito did.
Raidon pinched the bridge of his nose irritably. "I'm surrounded by idiots."
As if he had jinxed himself, a beam of light shot out of nowhere. Getting a direct hit on Kaito who then rolled off of Riko. "Never fear!"
"Oh god." Raidon sighed.
"Zen is here!" Zen shot out from the corner and tackled Kaito to the ground, the two of them landing with a thud beside Riko.
"As usual," Raidon grumbled, looking at the trio on the ground, specifically eyeing the white-haired one. "Your sense of punctuality is arguably worse than a blind man's sense of sight."
__________
"You know, it would be really useful if we acquired someone with a warp quirk into the group," Zen muttered quietly from the back of the group, tired from walking, his white hair falling over his eyes as he hung his head tiredly.
Earlier they had fought over who had to drag Hayate back with them. Kyoshi, having enough of their arguing decided he would do it himself, summoning a skeleton horse and throwing Hayate's unconscious form onto it.
"You couldn't have done that earlier?" Shiro looked at him with a raised brow.
He simply shrugged and began walking off with the skeleton horse following behind him. The rest of the group followed slowly behind leading up to the present.
"I don't understand why you're the one complaining." Raidon huffed, irritated. "You're the one who arrived late."
Zen pouted, "I slept in." He muttered defensively.
"It's like 10:00 in the evening." Riko pointed out.
He threw her a glare. "Shut up. I nap."
"Baby."
He looked at her, batting his eyelashes playfully. "Yes?"
Riko threw him a disgusted look. "No. I'm calling you a baby, dumbass." She growled, internally cringing at the idea of ever referring to Zen in that way.
"Language," Raidon warned her.
"Oh please, like you're so innocent." She huffed.
A tired sigh left Kyoshi’s lips as he pinched the bridge of his nose as if to suppress a headache. "I just want some peace and quiet for two minutes, TWO MINUTES. Is that too much to ask for?!"
"With us around?" Kaito grinned cheekily, leaning forward, eyes squinting. "Definitely."
__________
"Honey, I'm home!" A loud voice called when the doors to the mansion opened.
"Oh god." The brown-haired girl sighed to herself. "They're back."
Kaito immediately rushed over to her, giving her a big bear hug. "Aiko~, did you miss me?" He asked her excitedly with puppy dog eyes, invading her personal space like he always did.
She cringed internally before pushing his face away with her hand. "Yeah, definitely." She muttered, sarcasm clearly laced in her tone.
"I knew it!" He grinned to himself. "Aiko loves me!" He declared as Aiko simply sighed, shaking her head, now how on earth did he come to that conclusion? She wondered.
"Dear god why." Kyoshi winced as he covered his ears. He absolutely hated this kind of stuff. Just the thought of ever entering a relationship of the sort sent shivers down his spine.
Finally, all of them had entered the mansion, Shiro falling last and closing the doors behind them as Kyoshi headed towards the hidden staircase leading to the basement, taking a now conscious and struggling Hayate with him.
Zen followed Kyoshi to the basement, wanting to join in on the... interrogation of sorts. It was nothing new of course, the two of them were together a lot with Kyoshi being the only one able to keep Zen in check.
Shiro headed back outside after realizing he wasn’t needed within the mansion, he usually kept to himself and preferred his own company. But of course, he loved everyone in the group, he just didn’t have the energy to deal with their bullshit for an entire day.
Raidon on the other hand immediately headed for his office, where he had much paperwork and studying to complete. He had always been that way, overly responsible and doing much more than what was expected of him, that’s why he was always in Takahiro’s favor.
Of course, Kaito continued to pester poor Aiko who now no longer had any of the peace and quiet she had earlier while they were out on the mission. But Kaito was a genuinely sweet figure, and he was very open about his feelings for Aiko.
Unfortunately, however, Aiko wasn't very good at dealing with her feelings and therefore she was unable to reciprocate his affection. She wasn't sure how she felt for Kaito, but deep down everyone else knew that in one way or another, she felt the same.
Despite it not being obvious to herself, everyone knew she enjoyed the attention Kaito constantly showered her with, and how well he always treated her. Heck, even Takahiro approved of Kaito's feelings for Aiko.
Speaking of, the doors to the mansion opened once more, and in walked none other than the devil himself, Takahiro Yaorashi. The man looked ravishingly stunning in his dark purple hair and fancy clothing despite his age. He was the leader of the Tao Shin Syndicate, the biological father of Riko and the adoptive father of Ren and Aiko.
The moment he entered the mansion, they all greeted him respectfully. His eyes scanned the room before landing on Riko who sat on the opposite end of the table from Aiko and Kaito. "Riko." He called her.
She stood up and made her way towards him. "Yeah?"
He gently pet her head before speaking. "There's something I wish to discuss with you later on. Come to my office in half an hour, understood?"
She nodded. "Yes, father."
"Good." He smiled before heading to his office.
"I wonder what he wants to talk about." Aiko says, watching him as he walked off.
Riko shrugged and glanced in Aiko’s direction curiously. She was sitting with a hefty pile of paperwork situated in front of her. Kaito stood behind her, his hands resting on both of her shoulders as he peered over her, watching her work.
She didn’t understand how dense her older sister could be, it was clear that she held affection for Kaito despite her refusing to admit it. She wondered why it was like that, the two of them would’ve made the perfect match. It always left her disappointed when she would see the two of them interact so happily with each other, only to realize, that’s right, they aren’t together.
She really hoped Aiko would get her act together and finally accept Kaito into her life.
__________
It's been a good 25 minutes since Takahiro's arrival when the doors to the mansion opened once more and a tall, ombre-haired man with black roots to silver tips walked in. Riko, who was in the same spot as earlier, now with a cup of hot chocolate in her hand, raised her head to look at who arrived. A wide grin spread across her face as soon as she saw him.
"Ren! You're back!" She set her mug down before standing up and rushing over to her brother. "I missed you!" She smiled, hugging him.
A fond smile graced his lips as he looked down at his sister affectionately, his fingers threading through her soft hair. "Heya Squirt." He greeted, returning her hug. "I missed you too."
"How was the trip?" She asked.
He released her. "Pretty good, but I'm a bit exhausted so I think I'll call it a night. I promise I'll tell you all about it tomorrow though, deal?"
She nodded. "Deal. I had to go talk to dad about something anyway." She waved as she headed to his office. "Goodnight Ren!"
Riko lifted her clenched fist, knocking softly on the polished doors of her father's office. "Come in." She heard him speak, his tone filled with authority.
She entered the room, closing the door behind her before turning to face her father. Making her way deeper into the room, she took a seat on one of the chairs situated in front of his desk. "You wanted to talk to me?" She asked.
He looked up at her from his paperwork, smiling. Nodding, he set down his pen and clasped his hands together, elbows resting on the table.
"I want you to get into UA High School."
__________
"You're telling me, Takahiro-sensei is making you enroll into a hero school?" Zen asked, taking another spoonful of cereal and shoving it into his mouth messily.
Riko nodded, cringing at his messy way of eating.
"God, you're such a pig!" Michiko growled as she entered the dining room. "Stop shoving food into your mouth so sloppily, it's disgusting!" She was dressed in a fancy purple silk robe covering her nightwear, it matched the purple highlights on her dark hair.
"Mind your own business." Zen rolled his eyes.
She took a seat across from the two, setting down a bowl of fresh fruit salad for breakfast. "People like you make me lose my appetite."
"Look away then."
"Why you little-"
"Michiko, that's enough." Shiro entered, taking a seat next to her. "Let him be."
"Fine." She simply huffed before turning to me. "So you're taking the entrance exam for UA High School?"
Riko simply nodded, continuing to munch on her breakfast.
They continued to converse with one another for a while until Riko stood up and excused herself from the table. "I'll be heading out now."
"Where do you think you're going?" Raidon asked as he entered the kitchen.
"Out." She stated simply. "Don't bother Raidon, I won't do anything stupid. I'm not Zen."
"Hey!" Zen protested before pausing momentarily as he thought about her statement. "Okay, that's fair."
"Watch yourself kiddo." Raidon reminded her as she waltzed her way out of the dining room.
"Yes, captain!" She saluted lamely before closing the door behind her.
__________
Riko walked out of the mansion, exiting the large double gates of their property and exiting the prestigious neighborhood before wandering aimlessly along the streets. She pondered on the entrance exam that would take place in two weeks' time.
Most people would be nervous about it, but she wasn't. Not even in the slightest. After all, she wasn't some amateur with no training. She knew how to handle her quirk very well unlike most people her age, all thanks to the harsh training of her father when she was a child.
Lost in her thoughts, she forgot to watch where she was going and ended up bumping into someone. Their heads crashed against each other and she winced, regaining her balance with a hand pressed against the sore spot.
"Shit! I'm so sorry-" She quickly looked up, stopping instantly upon making eye contact with the boy.
The boy cut her off, simply brushing past her before continuing his path. Leaving her in confusion. What's his deal? We wouldn't have bumped into each other if at least one of us were paying attention. She shook the thoughts away and shrugged it off. She wasn't able to catch a good look at him, but he was handsome that's for sure... and unique too.
It's like his physical appearance was cut in half. His hair was parted down the center perfectly, half red and half white. She also managed to catch sight of his eyes during their brief encounter, he had heterochromia, his left eye was a cold metal gray color while his right eye was a striking electric blue. She noticed that he had a burn scar surrounding his right eye, but it only made him all the more attractive.
Realizing her thoughts she immediately scolded herself. My priority should be my mission, dad is counting on me . Takahiro had assigned her to enter UA High School for two reasons. The first, to develop and strengthen her quirk with the advice of pro-heroes. Second, to learn the weaknesses and gather information on the next generation of heroes.
It wasn't gonna be an easy task, after all, she had always been one to make friends and form relationships. Backstabbing wasn't something she would do to someone close to her. It's the only reason she's so hesitant on the job, it's not like the information is being gathered to attack the future heroes, it's simply a tactic to use against them if ever the heroes come after them.
After all, they weren't bad people.
At least, that’s what Riko so firmly believed.
__________
After aimlessly strolling through the city for another good 20 minutes, she decided to stop by a small tea shop. A bell chimed the moment she opened the door and stepped inside, and she was greeted by the sweet aroma of fresh tea and herbs. It was calming and she felt herself relax almost instantly.
She approached the counter to find an exhausted middle-aged man working behind it. Despite this, he greeted her with humble gestures and a polite smile. "What would you like to order?" He asked, his tone was warm and welcoming.
She returned the smile and briefly glanced at the menu situated on the countertop. "I'd like a cup of sencha tea, please."
"Anything else?" He asked encouragingly.
She shook her head. "No thank you."
"Alright, that's a total of 500 yen. Name please?"
Digging a hand into her pocket she picked up two ¥1000 bills and placed them onto the counter. "Riko Yaorashi, and, I hope I don't come off as rude, but you seem exhausted and I hope this helps."
A look of surprise took over his face and he shook his head, smiling at her graciously. "Thank you, I appreciate it. My tea shop hasn't been doing too well these days. I do have hopes for more customers during the winter though."
"I wish you the best of luck." She smiled at him.
He thanked her. "Your order will be out in a few minutes."
She nodded as he stepped back, working his magic behind the counter. Her eyes scanned the tea shop and she immediately caught sight of a familiar bush of red and white hair.
"Bingo." She muttered under her breath as she approached the table he was sitting at.
She walked over to his table, pulling the chair across from him and taking a seat. His head shot up immediately from the book he was initially reading. He simply stared at her, she sensed his lack of social ability, he didn't know what to do. But she also knew that he didn't exactly want her there, which made her want to be there even more.
"Hi." She smiled as he stared. "You might remember bumping into me earlier? I'm Riko Yaorashi." She extended a hand over the table.
He glanced at her hand before hesitantly lifting his hand, shaking hers. "Shoto Todoroki." He mumbled quietly.
"What was that?" She asked, but he knew she heard him and shot her a soft glare.
She couldn't help but laugh at that, not intimidated in the slightest. How could she take him seriously, he looked like a puppy.
"What do you want?" He asked, his tone coming off as quite rude, but she didn’t care.
"To talk, obviously." She held a grin, knowing she was getting on his nerves. "Jeez, you'd think you were conversing with someone who at least had decent intelligence when they were reading a book earlier."
He stood up, his expression irritated, grabbing his book bag and ready to leave the tea shop. No longer wanting to deal with her loud, cheeky presence. "Wait, wait! I'm sorry." She grabbed his wrist, stopping him. "I meant minimal."
He rolled his eyes and yanked his wrist out of her grip as she burst out laughing, not caring at all that he had already strutted his way out the door, leaving her by herself. Somewhere deep down, she had a feeling they'd meet again.
"Sencha tea for Ms. Yaorashi?"
__________
The day of the entrance exam was finally here, Riko had just arrived at the location and it was already jam-packed with potential heroes all over. This didn't faze her of course, she was confident in her skills and knew she would pass the exam.
The ten-minute mock battle was about to begin and she could feel the adrenaline coursing through her veins. She was excited to get into action.
She recalled the pre-exam lecture given by Present Mic regarding the pointing system and the mechanics. Her eyes scanned the crowd and noticed that a vast majority of them had specialized gear. They also radiated a bit of overconfidence. However, it didn't faze her in the slightest. She continued to scan the crowd, viewing her competition.
Suddenly, a man screamed out, his voice booming throughout the venue, "Okay, start!" It was Present Mic.
Nobody moved.
"What are you waiting for? Do you think real life has countdowns? Go go go!" He yelled and before she knew it, everyone was rushing through the doors.
Riko immediately took off in the air, one of the major advantages of her quirk. From up high she was able to spot where the villain bots were located. Within seconds she had calculated a quick and efficient route to gather a load of points.
She moved swiftly, not daring to stop for a moment.
3... 5... 8... 14... 19… 23... 29
She counted her points as she moved along, smashing every bot that came in sight. It had been six minutes and she still needed more points. Boosting herself into the sky once again, she repeated her earlier actions and calculated a new route.
Her movements halted when spotting a certain boy who was rather... explosive. She could hear him screaming from a mile away. "DIE! DIE! DIE!"
She couldn't help but laugh at the silly boy before continuing her path. The winds spun around her drastically which had also prevented the other hero student candidates from reaching her area.
Suddenly she spotted another girl who seemed to have been surrounded by an overwhelming amount of robots. She could see her struggling, trying to freeze the robots, but her ice wasn’t strong enough to hold out, especially not with the amount that targeted her.
Without hesitation, she dove down from the sky, sending large gusts of wind with an overwhelming amount of power straight towards the robots. She made sure to break through the center in front of the girl, to make sure she didn’t get hurt. It took a lot of her mental power to conjure winds of such overwhelming force, all while using more gentle winds to carry the girl out of the way.
She managed to set both her and the girl down safely as the destroyed robots were scattered around them. Her chest rose up and down heavily as she approached the girl, crouching down beside her. “Are you okay?” She asked, concern lacing her tone.
The girl with the ice quirk looked up at her, letting out a shaky breath as she nodded her head. “Yeah, thank you.”
“Let’s get back in there, shall we?” She grinned, offering her hand to the girl as she helped her get back on her feet. “What’s your name?” She asked.
“Chiyoko Ogawa.”
Riko smiled, taking note of the girl’s name, “I’m Riko Yaorashi.” The sudden creaking of metal caught their attention as the two turned to see more robots heading in their direction. “Well, Ogawa-san,” She began, a competitive smile forming on her face. “I hope to meet you again in UA.”
An icy mist began forming around Chiyoko’s hands as she nodded, smiling. “I hope so too, Yaorashi-san.”
With that, the two charged at the robots, competing against each other to see who would take down more.
32… 39… 42... 51... 57...-
Sirens began going off all over the makeshift battlefield as Present Mic's booming voice echoed everywhere.
"The entrance exam is officially over!"
Riko and Chiyoko had ended up finishing the entrance exam together, satisfied smiles on both of their faces as they bid each other goodbye before officially parting ways for what Riko hoped would be until they entered UA together.
__________
It's been a week since the entrance exam took place and the acceptance results were coming out today. It was close to 6:00 in the evening and Riko was surprised that she felt slightly nervous. What if I didn't get in? I can't disappoint dad!
However, all these thoughts were wiped away as soon as Raidon walked through the doors of their mansion. "I've got mail for a certain Ms. Yaorashi." He smiled at her.
She immediately rushed over, snatching the envelope from Raidon's hand. "I'll take that, thank you very much."
He simply chuckled at her behavior before patting her head gently. "I'm sure you got in, no need to worry."
"I'm not worried. I know I got in." She snapped at him.
"If you say so." He waved, not bothering to look back at her as he headed to his office.
She sighed to herself as she went to her room to check her results.
__________
"Riko." Her father smiled from behind his desk as she entered his office. He was dressed in a loose white button-up blouse with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms.
"Father." She acknowledged, maintaining her composure. "I passed the entrance exam for hero course 1-A in UA high school."
"Perfect." He smiled as he looked down at her. "Make me proud, Riko."
She returned his smile. "When have I ever let you down?"
He nodded, agreeing with her before she excused herself from his presence. Worried that she wouldn’t be able to hold her excitement in front of her father.
"Ren!" Riko waved him over as soon as she entered the living room, finding him seated on the couch with a book in hand.
"Heya Squirt." He grinned, ruffling her hair as she took a seat beside him. "Raidon sent me a text just now, I heard you passed the UA entrance exam, good job! What was your rank?"
That’s right, as soon as she opened the results, Raidon was the first one she told since he was, conveniently, passing by her room.
"Who do you take me for, Ren? An amateur? I got first place, duh! But it was tied." She sighed dramatically.
He tilted his head curiously. "Oh? Who with?" He asked as he took a seat next to her.
"Katsuki Bakugou, he's a walking bomb, literally and figuratively." She laughed recalling the events that took place during the practical exam, witnessing his explosive behavior and quirk. "Boy, was he hot-headed."
They weren’t given information on the identities of the top 10, but Riko wanted to know who she had tied with for first place which resulted in her doing a background check on who ‘Katsuki Bakugou’ was, only to find out he was the boy whom she spotted earlier with a nasty explosion quirk.
"A boy?" Ren asked, tilting his head as she nodded, "What was the pointing system?"
"They ranked us based on the number of villain bots we could defeat. The more dangerous the villain bot, the higher the points.." She explained. “Initially he had 77 villain points and I had 57, but because I saved someone I gained an extra 20 points, tying me in first place.”
"Rescue points?"
"Yeah, I didn’t really understand it either." She laughed. “But I realized it made sense, if you want genuine heroes you gotta keep the rescue point portion a secret.”
"That’s great," Ren smiled at her as he stood up, patting her head gently. "Even if you were tied, you still got first, that's good enough."
"Thanks, Ren." She smiled back at him, watching as he retreated to his office, presumably to get more paperwork done.
__________
It was close to midnight when Zen was tiptoeing through the household. He was feeling a bit restless after missing all the action from earlier because he slept in, so he had planned to have a little fun during the night so he could use his quirk.
"I hope you weren't planning on sneaking out?" Zen froze as he slowly turned towards the direction of the voice.
There stood none other than Kyoshi, the usual skeleton rat threading through his hands.
"K-Kyoshi!" Zen straightened up as soon as he made eye contact with the latter. "Of course not! I was just... practicing my stealth skills?"
"You sound unsure." He stopped playing with the rat, lifting his hand and allowing it to sit on his shoulder before taking a step forward, a faint squeak left Zen's lips. "It's past curfew, I suggest you go back to your room."
"That's a great idea, I was just about to go do that!" He grins, stepping back slowly.
"Go." That word alone, with the authoritative power laced in his tone, was enough to send Zen running back up the stairs from where he came.
"Aw, you're too harsh, Kyoshi." Kaito walked out from the shadows, bits of green electricity crackling around his form. "Let the poor kid have some fun, he's only 18."
"Tch." Kyoshi rolled his eyes. "All the more reason to teach him discipline early on. Wouldn't want him to end up like you ."
__________
"You are an absolute idiot!" Aiko growled at the dazed man.
Kaito had arrived sometime around 3:00 in the morning, covered in electric burns and bruises. His clothes were absolutely ruined. He didn't seem all that sober either, in fact, he was dazed.
Aiko woke up with a bad gut feeling and sure enough the moment she walked down the stairwell she spotted a dazed Kaito throwing himself around the living room. She already knew his brain short-circuited, and that only meant one thing, this sneaky bastard probably did some illegal bullshit.
Unlike Zen, he was the oldest of the core, therefore the only person who could really control him was Takahiro. Well, maybe Aiko could too.
"Are you serious right now Kaito?" She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose irritably. "This is the third time this month!"
He smiled at her sheepishly, he had finally sobered up five minutes ago. "I hate missing out on the fun, you know this Aiko!"
"That doesn't mean you should be reckless with your abilities! Especially with that overpowered quirk of yours!" She glared at him angrily. "There wasn't even anything to miss out on! Everyone was at home!"
"I'm sorry." He pouted, looking genuinely ashamed for angering her.
Her expression softened the slightest bit as she let out a sigh. "I'm just worried, I didn't mean to lash out at you, I'm sorry."
"I know." He frowned. "I'll try not to do it again."
She sighed again before pulling him towards her and wrapped him in a tight hug. "It's okay, just quit it will ya? I worry about you."
He simply nodded his head, tightening his arms around her waist.
