Work Text:

Sarada looked at the couple not far in front of her. The man seemed to be singing a song while playing the guitar. The woman stood in front of him with a smile. Hundreds of lit candles were placed in a circle around them.

"Look at that. She may be smiling, but in his heart he must be embarrassed." said Namida suddenly.

Sumire held his cheek. "I don't know why, he is the one who did ig, but I was ashamed." her cheeks flushed red.

Sarada glanced at her friends who were sitting beside her then looked back at the two lovers. Sarada grimaced inwardly. Indeed, if you look at it, it's a little embarrassing. Moreover, many people watched.

When the man finished singing his song, he took a bouquet of flowers and gave it to his girlfriend. "Happy birthday, Ayumi." he said.

The woman received it with a smile and flushed cheeks. "Thank you."

"I bet, she must be shy to death." exclaimed Wasabi as he cradled his face with both hands.

"That's right. You see, her cheeks are flushed. Actually, she's not blushing, but being embarrassed." Said Namida.

"Oh yeah, Sarada-chan's birthday is in a few days, right?" Sumire suddenly asked.

Sarada turned her head and nodded. "Well, in about one week."

"Is it possible that Boruto-kun also prepared something like this?"

Sarada froze when she heard Sumire's question. "Hah?"

Sumire, Wasabi, and Namida exchanged glances then looked back at Sarada.

Sarada rubbed her neck nervously when she realized the attention of her three friends was on her. "That's impossible. Boruto wouldn't do something like that."

Sarada did say that, but actually she was also worried. The thought of Boruto doing the same thing like this made her shudder.

Sarada was looking for gifts for Boruto's birthday with Chouchou at a mall when her phone rang, a sign that she get a massage. She smiled when she saw Boruto's name plastered on her phone screen. But then she frowned at the message.

Boruto-baka | Sarada! Tell me, what's your favorite song?

"Huh?" she muttered, confused.

Sarada | Why are you asking?

Boruto | I want to go to karaoke with Shikadai and the others. I want to sing your favorite song :)

Sarada snorted in amusement. Boruto's thoughts are sometimes unpredictable. Sarada then typed in a song title that has recently become her favorite. But then suddenly the movements of his hands stopped as something flashed through his mind.

Suddenly she remembered the incident yesterday, when she and her friends saw a man who sang a song for his girlfriend's birthday. Sarada frowned.

Why is Boruto suddenly asking about her favorite song? Could it be ...

Sarada shook her head. "Impossible." she then returned to typing an answer to Boruto.

As usual, when Sarada stepped out of the hokage building, Boruto was already there welcoming her. They then walked hand in hand towards Sarada's apartment. This has been their routine since they started dating a few months ago. Boruto will wait for Sarada to finish her job as Hokage's apprentice, then walk Sarada back to her apartment.

Small talk was heard along the way. Every now and then Boruto throws jokes that make Sarada can't help but chuckle. Even though the joke wasn't funny at all.

"Sarada, what flower do you like?" asked Boruto suddenly.

"Hm? Flower?" Sarada blinked. "Why are you suddenly asking that? You already know."

Boruto rubbed the nape of his neck nervously. "Yes, but maybe your tastes have changed."

Sarada was stunned. What is this? Why does Boruto suddenly ask her favorite flower?

Sarada winced when suddenly the image of Boruto singing a song while giving a bouquet of her favorite roses in front of many people crossed her mind.

Sarada hurriedly shook her head quickly. Trying to get rid of his thoughts.

Boruto who saw her frowned in confusion. "What happened to you?"

Sarada walked towards the Thunder Burger. She has an appointment with Boruto there. But when she got there, she could not find the man.

"Yo, Sarada!" Sarada turned around when her name was called. Not far from her, Mitsuki, Shikadai, and Inojin were seen sitting at one of the tables there. They wave at her. Looking at the clothes they were wearing, looks like they had just returned from a mission.

"Who are you looking for?" asked Mitsuki when Sarada arrived in front of him.

"Have you seen Boruto?"

"Boruto?" Mitsuki blinked. "Oh, I saw him buying therapy candles at the shop across the street — ouch!" Mitsuki's words were interrupted because Shikadai suddenly kicked his leg.

"What did I do wrong?" asked Mitsuki confused. Meanwhile Shikadai and Inojin only sighed.

Sarada looked at them with suspicious eyes. Like there is something they are hiding.

"By the way, Sarada, you are very lucky." said Mitsuki.

"Hah?" Sarada blinked.

Shikadai and Inojin clapped their foreheads.

"Boruto has prepared a lot of things, you know. He—"

"Let's go, Mitsuki. We are still need to reporting our mission to Nanadaime-sama." Shikadai stood up and pulled Mitsuki's shoulder to come with him.

"But my burger—"

"Come on!"

"Okay." said Mitsuki then smiled. "Then I'll go first, Sarada."

After the three friends of her left, Sarada became pensive in her place. Everything is starting to become clear. It would be foolish to not realize it.

D-Day

Tonight, as usual, Boruto will walk Sarada back to her apartment. Along the way, Sarada kept stealing glances at Boruto. Why does that man seem so ordinary? He didn't even say 'happy birthday' to her. Has her mind been wrong? She thought Boruto prepared a surprise for her birthday. But, looks like it's just her thought.

Sarada sighed. Even though she doesn't like things that are excessive, it's not that she doesn't like surprises on her birthday. Honestly, she was a little disappointed because it seems Boruto doesn't remember her birthday.

"We have arrived." Boruto stopped his steps right in front of Sarada's apartment. "Get in quickly. It's cold." he said with a smile and gently stroked Sarada's head.

"You .. leave now?" asked Sarada quietly.

"Why? Do you have something to say?"

Sarada bit her lip. "Hm. No."

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot," Boruto's enthusiastic voice suddenly made Sarada feet a little hopeful. The man seemed to reach something from the paper bag he was carrying.

"This." He handed a CD to Sarada. "It's nothing. It's filled with your favorite songs." said Boruto with a smile.

Even though it was a bit difficult, Sarada forced a smile. "Thanks. I'll listen to it."

"Now, go. It's cold outside."

Sarada is actually disappointed, but it can't be helped. Sighing softly, she finally turned towards her apartment with heavy steps. When she reach the door of her apartment, she turned around, and again she felt sad when he saw Boruto was gone.

She finally entered her apartment. Take off her shoes and lie down on the sofa. She stay still for a moment before finally remembering a tape given by Boruto. She grabbed the CD, then headed for the cassette player.

After the tape was played, she frowned because there was no sound she could hear. Earlier, Boruto said this cassette contains her favorite songs, right?

But when Sarada turned around to enter her bedroom, suddenly there was a voice that was very familiar to her.

'Test, 1, 2, 3,'

Boruto?

'Hi, Sarada. It's my first time doing this, so I'm a little embarrassed. But, please listen to me. '

Sarada chuckled softly.

'You think I forgot that today is your birthday, right? What kind of boyfriend do you think I am? '

Sarada snorted in amusement.

"First, open the refrigerator."

"Hm? Fridge?" Sarada exclaimed in confusion. she then went to the refrigerator and opened it. Instantly her heart felt warm when she saw what was in there. A cake with cream decoration in the shape of a rose flower on top.

'Since you love to eat, rather than flowers, I want to give you a cake,'

Sarada couldn't help laughing when she heard that.

'How is it? Do you like it?'

"I love it." said Sarada with a smile.

'Now take a look at the desk drawer in your room,'

Sarada immediately rushed to her room. He opened the drawer of the desk Boruto meant and found an aromatherapy candle there.

'You've been having trouble sleeping lately, haven't you? I searched on the internet, it said aromatherapy candles are good for insomnia. '

Sarada smiled softly. Boruto is the one who knows hee the best. He always knew everything about her, even more than herself.

Sarada then took a match and lit the candle. Once turned on, a fragrant aroma permeated the room.

'If you want to sleep, don't forget to turn it off, ok? It's dangerous.'

Sarada didn't know what to say, but what was clear was that she was very happy now. She was touched by all of this. Boruto prepared all this for her?

'I don't know if I'm doing this right. You remember the day I confessed my feelings? Right now I'm more nervous than that time. "

"Boruto ..." Suddenly Sarada wanted to meet him. He wanted to hug him tightly and say thanks.

'And the last gift, I left at the door. Go, hurry up, take a look.'

Without waiting anymore, Sarada immediately headed towards the door. As soon as she opened the door, hee chest was racing at the sight of her last gift.

"Boruto?" she said in surprised.

Boruto stood in front of hee with his dazzling smile. He hid his hands behind his body. "Your last gift is—" He pulled his hand from behind his body, but there was nothing there. He then put his hands on his cheeks. "-Me!"

Instantly Sarada laughed at the adorable behavior of her lover. "Boruto ... You haven't left before? Are you waiting here?"

"I can't just go. You've been having trouble sleeping lately, so I'll sing you a lullaby."

Sarada gave Boruto a gentle smile. Hee heart was warm. The human heart is indeed strange, even though only a few moments ago she felt disappointed, but now she feels very happy.

"Can I stay the night?" asked Boruto doubtfully.

Sarada nodded with a smile.

Instantly, a smile formed on Boruto's lips. "Happy birthday, Sarada. I—"

Boruto didn't have time to finish his words because suddenly Sarada had lunged at him with a tight hug.

"Thanks, Boruto."

Boruto chuckled. "Are you that happy?" he said, hugging Sarada back.

"Of course."

After a while, Sarada let go of her hug and then styled Boruto so gently. Slowly she raised her hand and—
