His Habit

Summary:

This is not the first time he has come to Sarada's room. For almost all his life he has known Sarada, he has often spent time in this place. Several times he even stayed night here. Not when they were little, but ever since they were genin even now, at certain times of the night when he needed someone to hear his laments, when he needed someone to lean on, he would come here.

He would knocked on Sarada's balcony glass, then after the girl let him in, he would tell a lot of things and Sarada would listen silently. And after that, someday if Sarada was being kind, she would let Boruto fall asleep on her shoulder. And stay like that until morning.

Prompt Day 7: Balcony, "I made a promise"

Work Text:

Sarada threw her tired body onto the bed and closed her eyes. A feeling of comfort began to hit her when she lay on her soft bed and pillow. After all these days she slept on the cold ground.

The mission that she expected to finish in three days turned out to be a little longer, one week. And whose faulth could this be if not Boruto. Sometimes Sarada can't understand, even though the boy has passed the age which is almost adult, but his attitude is still childish and careless. This time it was his careless attitude that delayed their mission for several days.

Boruto, that idiot, sometimes he can be too genius, but sometimes he can also be very stupid. She didn't understand how that boy's brain worked.

Sarada's eyes suddenly opened. She felt the presence of someone near her. Her alertness decreased when she caught a familiar chakra. Simultaneously with the sound of knocking on the glass balcony.

Knock knock knock

Sarada got up from her position. With a sitting position she turned her head towards the balcony. A person's shadow reflected by the moonlight was seen standing there. There is only one person who has this kind of strange habit. When other people will enter politely through the front door. Only this person slipped in through the balcony of her room.

There was another knock, this time in a low whisper. "Sarada ... open the door, -ttebasa. I know you haven't slept yet."

No matter how much Sarada wants to ignore that person, she can never. Since then even now. Sarada got out of bed and walked towards the balcony door. Sighing for a moment, she then opened the window blinds. Boruto stood there with his back to her.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Boruto turned around. He looked at Sarada for a moment before Sarada finally broke the silence between them.

"Why are you here?"

Boruto bit his lip at Sarada's cold tone. Apparently Sarada was still angry with him. He suddenly shrank. The courage that he had just suddenly evaporated somewhere.

"You should be in the hospital." Sarada's eyes rolled to stare Boruto from top to bottom. "Instead of hanging out in the middle of the night like this."

Contrary to hee cold tone, although faint but Boruto can see the worried lines on Sarada's face. And Boruto couldn't deny that there was a strange explosion in his chest when he saw that.

"You weren't there when I woke up at the hospital."

Sarada fell silent.

"Are you ... still angry? Usually you'll wait for me to wake up." squeaked Boruto while lowering his head. Don't dare to look at Sarada. Boruto doesn't get an answer for a long time, so he is worried whether he said it wrong. But suddenly he heard a long sigh from Sarada. As soon as he looked up, Sarada was staring at him closely.

"Boruto. You know, you are the most annoying person I have ever known." Sarada then opened the balcony door a little wider. "Come on in, it's cold. You're still not recovering."

"You ... didn't kick me out?"

Sarada frowned slightly. "Do you want me to do that?"

"N-not, ttebasa!" Boruto rushed into Sarada's room before the girl changed her mind. Sarada just shook her head slowly because of her childhood friend's behavior. After closing the door, Sarada looked at Boruto who was silent nervously by the side of hee bed.

"Wait here. I'll make you somethink warm." he said then went to the kitchen.

Only Boruto remained there. Rubbing his neck nervously, he then sat on the edge of Sarada's bed.

Because of that, Boruto already feels so familiar with this room. In fact, sometimes, he felt more comfortable here than in his own room. Every time he came here, only with a gentle knock on the glass of the balcony, as if she had already memorized it very well, Sarada would immediately open it while looking at him with an annoyed look.

Knocking on the girl's balcony glass was no longer a strange thing for him or for Sarada. Even though Sarada always nagged him to enter in a more normal way through the front door like people in general, but that girl always ended up opening her balcony door for Boruto. Boruto doesn't want to admit this to Sarada, but he is happy to know that only him who did this. No one else has. It feels like ... this is something special because only Boruto does it. At least that's what Boruto thought.

"Here. Drink it."

Boruto snapped out of his reverie as a cup of hot chocolate thrust in front of his face. He did not realize when Sarada entered, the girl suddenly stood in front of him. Boruto grabbed the cup of chocolate. The hot steam billowed against his face, making him closed his eyes to enjoy the warm sensation. It's quite cold outside, so being here with a cup of hot chocolate makes him feel good.

Sarada sat beside him. A little further than the usual distance the girl gave. While sipping hee hot chocolate, she glanced at Boruto who was just staring at his glass. "Why don't you drink it?"

Boruto blinked. "Ah. No. Just remember one thing. Every time I come here at night, you always make me this. Thank you." Boruto spoke softly then took a sip of the hot chocolate.

Sarada was stunned. Boruto's words seemed to make hee realize that it wasn't just once or twice that Boruto came to hee room through the balcony like this and spent the night together.

"You haven't answered my question, why are you here?"

"I already answered earlier, right. When I woke up, you weren't there. What's wrong if I looked for you? How could you leave me unconscious."

"Only that?" sambar Sarada impatiently.

"What?"

"Is that all you have to say?

Boruto stares straight at Sarada's onyx so intensely. "What do you want me to say?" The blue eyes carried him away again. Why did Sarada always lose her self-control every time she looked at that shady bead.

"Sarada—"

"Forget it." Sarada cut their eyes and lowered their head.

Boruto put his hot chocolate on the bedside nightstand, then lowered his head deeply. "Sorry."

"Sorry for what?"

"Sorry, because of me, our mission is taking longer than it should be."

Instantly Sarada turned around. "That is all?" Sarada stared in disbelief. "You're just here to apologize about that?"

Boruto stared with a bitter smile. "What do you want me to do?"

Sarada looked at him with gaze. "You ... you almost died Boruto. R-right in front of my eyes. And ... that's all you can say? You ... how could you ... just jump in front of me when that man threw a poisonous kunai. " Sarada took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "Sorry you said? I don't need your apology." Sarada turned her gaze to the side, trying to ward off her tears threatening to come out. Her hand was holding tightly to the glass filled with hot chocolate which was starting to cool.

Boruto grabbed the glass from Sarada's hand and put it on the nightstand. With one move he pulled Sarada until she was in his arms. Boruto embraced his body tightly.

"Sorry. But I don't regret my actions. Even if I could turn back the time, I would still do the same thing. I can't let you get hurt, Sarada." said Boruto right beside Sarada's ear.

Sarada tried to rebel in Boruto's arms. But Boruto is too stubborn to let the girl slip out of his arms. Instead he tightened his hug to Sarada.

"Idiot ..." Boruto heard Sarada's soft muttering. The shirt Boruto is wearing starts getting wet due to the girl's tears.

"Promise me, don't do that again." whispered Sarada with a muffled voice on Boruto's broad chest. Her hand tightly gripped the man's back.

Boruto shook his head, lightly stroking Sarada's black mane. "Sorry. I can't, tebasa. Even in the future, if we encounter a similar situation, my actions are the same. I made a promise. I'll protect you, Sarada. That was my promise to you back then, do you remember? When you became Hokage, I would—"

"—be my right hand and protect me? I know." cut Sarada.

Boruri chuckled. "If you already know why you still ask, ttebasa?"

Sarada bit her lower lip. "But," Her shoulders trembled. She buried hee face in Boruto's chest even more, trying to find peace there. "How will you keep your promise if you die Boruto? Sloppy actions like that can kill you."

Boruto let go of his hug. Sarada hurriedly wiped her tears and hid her face from Boruto. But the next second Boruto grabs her face, forcing her to stare at him. His burly hands rubbed the trail of tears that were imprinted on Sarada's cheeks.

"I won't die, Sarada. I won't. Not when I have a promise to keep. You know, I always keep my promise." While tucking Sarada's hair behind her ear, Boruto smiled softly.

If like this, Sarada can no longer speak. Boruto always has a way to calm her. Sarada didn't understand how Boruto could have such an influence on her. Just by looking into his eyes, Sarada felt calm. She was still silent when Boruto pulled her back into a hug. She wrapped her tiny hands around Boruto's body, replying to the assault of the man no less tightly. She smiled a little with flushed cheeks when she felt Boruto inhale the scent of her hair deeply and kissed her head.

But, the next second Sarada frowned when she heard Boruto's moan. When he looked up, he saw the look on his face was in pain. "You are okay?" Sarada couldn't hide her worries.

Boruto grimaced a little then smiled mischievously. "It's okay. You hugged me too tightly on the part that hurt. But it's okay, continue. I can hold it anyway."

Sarada blinked, immediately let go of her arms and got up. "Sorry."

"I told you it's okay, Sarada." Boruto held Sarada's hand so that the girl returned to sit beside him.

"You have to go back to th hospital, Boruto." Sarada looked at him worriedly. Her hand lightly touches Boruto's injured stomach.

"Will you accompany me there?" Boruto stared expectantly.

"Why should I accompany you?" Sarada tried to hold back her laughter when she saw Boruto's face suddenly bent with lips pursed funny. "Yes, yes. I'll accompany you, you silly. I won't leave your side even for a second. I'll stick to you like a glue."

Boruto smiled and then turned his face to the side, not wanting Sarada to see the thin tinge on his cheek. But Sarada has eyes as sharp as an eagle. There's no point in Boruto trying to hide it.

"Then come on." Sarada got up from her seat, ready to leave.

Boruto turned back to Sarada then glanced over with a mischievous smile. "I prefer here." Without further ado Boruto lay on the bed as if it was his bed. "It's more comfortable here than the hospital, ttebasa." Boruto folded his hands behind his head, making it a pillow. In the next second, his eyes closed.

Meanwhile, Sarada was looking at him in disbelief. Hands on his hips, he stares fiercely at Boruto. "Get up Boruto. Do you want to walk alone to the hospital, or do you want me to drag you? Choose one."

Boruto opened his eyes lazily. Instead of getting up, he tapped the place next to him lightly, signaling Sarada to lie down beside him. Sarada felt her cheeks turn red. Quickly she pulled Boruto's hand to get up. But Boruto still doesn't budge.

"Very rude to the patient." Boruto pursed his lips. Her eyes glistened at Sarada. "It's cold outside, Sarada. Let me stay here okay?"

Sarada's eyes narrowed. "Cold? Say that to the guy who slipped out of the hospital in the middle of the cold night while injured." she said sarcastically.

Boruto looked at her pitifully. "Please." she asked. "It's not my first time sleeping here, anyway." His smile broke. Glancing at Sarada seductively, reminding Sarada of the nights when Boruto stayed in her room.

Sarada blushed. "My parents are home."

Boruto snorted. "I know your mother is in the hospital. And Sasuke-san is on a mission. You can't lie to me, Sarada." A moment later Boruto winced, realizing that his words were as if they wanted to do something nonsensical behind Sarada's parents. "We're just going to sleep anyway." Boruto gets up. "Unless you think about something else." the temptation is in his voice.

BUAGHH

"Ouch!"

"You idiot." grumbled Sarada.

Boruto grimaces while holding his shoulder which was hitted earlier. From the tail of his eyes he watched Sarada, who suddenly crawled up to the bed and pulled the blanket. Boruto blinked as Sarada positioned her pillow in the middle and shifted her body to the side of the wall.

"Why are you silent?"

Boruto blinked. "Hah?"

"You said you was going to sleep." Sarada slipped a hand under the pillow. He lay on his side staring wistfully at Boruto who was frozen in place.

"D-do you mean sleeping here? In b-bed with you?" Boruto swallowed his saliva with difficulty.

"Where else?"

Boruto suddenly becomes embarrassed. It is true that this is not the first time he has stayed here. But usually he slept on the sofa or on the floor with Sarada in a sitting position due to fatigue after chatting all night. He had slept several times in Sarada's bed, but at that time they were still kids. And now they are 17 years old. Not kids anymore.

"Boruto."

"W-what?"

"I'm sleepy. Come here quickly. Before I change my mind." Sarada patted the empty side of her pillow.

With a pounding heart, Boruto crawled onto the bed. Lay his head on Sarada's soft pillow. Boruto couldn't believe that he was currently sleeping on the same bed as Sarada, sharing the same blanket and pillow.

"Looks like my pillow is too small for both of us." Sarada's heart went crazy when she looked at Boruto's face from this close. She could even feel Boruto's breath. Alright, Sarada is starting to regret her invitation earlier. This did not good for her heart condition. "I'll get another pillow." Sarada was about to leave her sleep, but Boruto hurriedly held her hand.

"No need." he said. Her blue iris which was staring at Sarada intensely, made Sarada flutter even more.

For a few moments they just stared at each other. Admire the glistening beauty of each other's eyes, and the flawless sculptures of their faces. When Sarada suddenly broke the silence.

"Be proud. You're the only man I allow to be this close."

"So." muttered Boruto. "Then you also have to be proud of yourself. You're also the only girl I allowed to see my handsome face this close." He glanced mischievously at the end of his sentence. Instantly Sarada groaned in annoyance. "You always ruined the atmosphere."

Boruto chuckled. But when he saw Sarada's lips, which were pursed cute, made Boruto unable to hold back his desire anymore. He landed a brief kiss on Sarada's tiny lips. A second later he embraced Sarada with his warm hug. Didn't expect the girl to just kiss him back. "Sleep, Sarada." he ordered.

With her cheeks flushed, Sarada snorted in amusement. "Who kisses who, who is ashamed of whom." she chuckled. "Looke at me, Boruto. I want to see how red your face is." Sarada tried to escape Boruto's embrace. But Boruto tightens his embrace even more, refusing to show Sarada his face that is like a boiled crab.

"Don't tease me, Sarada."

Sarada giggled. "Teasing my own boyfriend is not a sin."

Boruto said nothing. Drowning his face in the ladle of Sarada's neck, inhaling the fragrant aroma that wafted from the girl's body. Sarada winced at the act. "Stop sniffing at me, Boruto!"

Boruto grinned. "Never."

"Stop or—"

"Or what?" challenge Boruto. He slightly loosened his hug to glance at Sarada's face. "Look now who's blushing." he said, grinning.

That's what happened the whole night at the Uchiha residence, or rather in the room belonging to the Uchiha's only daughter. They keep teasing each other by occasionally sharing a kiss on the forehead, cheek, lips, and sometimes when Boruto being naught, on the neck.

Until morning comes, they just fell asleep. Boruto with his supine position, and Sarada's head hanging on his broad chest. Their faces are so peaceful, as if they find the most comfortable place.
