Chapter Text
Midoriya Izuku is quirkless, that was all he ever had been. Ever since that fateful doctor's trip when he was five, that was all he was going to be. Before then, he had the chance to be a hero in the future, even if it was slim. Now he had no hopes for anything like that. He knew that no one would ever like a stupid quirkless Deku like him, so now he has just given up the dream of being a hero altogether. Back then, as a little kid, back when he had just learnt he had no hopes for a good future, he still believed he had a chance at being a hero, at having a future.
Obviously, he was just lying to himself, even if he didn't realize it then. Now, looking back on his past, five year old self, he knew he was being an idiot. He was a useless Deku, just like Kacchan had always said. He wasn't smart, wasn't strong, wasn't all that capable of really anything. And, on to of that, he was quirkless. So, he had no future, no chance to actually do anything useful with his life. He had come to realize that a while ago, back when he learnt he wasn't going to have a chance at being a pro hero, but ever since middle school had started, he had truly realized what it meant to be quirkless in this society.
The bullying, the abuse, the harsh words, the whispers in the halls, the burns, the teachers never once just stopping to check he was okay, or tell the other people off for hurting one of their classmates, just standing and watching. He wished, even if it was just once, one of the teachers would step in. It would show him someone actually cared about him. Of course, that was just a silly dream, but can't a teen have dreams? Well, they can, I guess. But it isn't uncommon for them to be crushed as soon as they appear, by the reality of the harsh, cold world.
Sometimes he wondered if there was another universe that people would actually care about him, and stand up for the weak, not in the way heros do, for fame, but just because they knew it was the right thing to do. He wondered if that was what the world was like before quirks became a common thing, or even a thing at all. They never went over what the world was like before quirks in history class, as it was deemed "not useful in this era" but he still wondered. A world without quirks sounded so... peaceful to Midoriya. No villains, even if there had been bad people, but there would always be bad people. Back then, the bad people would have been so much easier to deal with.
"-ku! Damn Deku!"
Bakugou never liked people like Izuku, he thought they got so much attention just because of something they lacked, it was annoying as shit. He didn't have to do anything and yet everyone was always talking about him. Sure, it wasn't always good, but still! Why did they pay so much attention to him that they knew everything as soon as it happened? It was like he had a crazy obsessed fan club, and Bakugou was having none of it. He thought it was his job to keep people like that useless Deku in there place.
"Damn Deku, stop fucking spacing out! Damn it, you're ever more useless then usual! Why the fuck do you space out so much shitty nerd?!"
"I-I-I'm s-sorr-ry k-kac-ccha-n"
"Damn right you should be! Why the fuck are you so useless? You should just go take a swan dive of the roof of the building, no one would even fucking notice if you fucking died!"
"..."
"Whatever, I'm leaving, you're not worth any more of my damn time nerd"
Whether Bakugou realized it or not, those words broke something in Midoriya, something that should never have been broken.
That was why Midoriya was on the roof of Aldera Junior High School at five in the evening, sitting much to close to the edge, but no one saw him. There was no reason for anyone to be in the school district at this hour, of course, but still, this hurt Midoriya a bit. No one would be there in his final moments, even though likely no one would care even if he died.
"Whatcha doing there, kid?"
The voice broke Midoriya out of thought, as he quickly turned around, startled to see a man in all black with hand all other his arms and head standing just a few feet behind him.
"wha- uhm- hello? wait, no.. who are you? what are you doing here at this hour? why did you come up here? how long have you been here? were you watching me? were you here before me and I was just so caught in thought I didn't notice?.."
Midoriya, once again, got caught up in his own brain, mumbling quite a bit. He was so caught up in his own world that he didn't even notice that the stranger had sat themself down next to him and was watching him closely
"Hey kid, I'm gonna ask again, what are you doing here at this hour?"
"Huh-"
Midoriya finally was out of his own brain world again, and now noticed the stranger sitting right next to him. It took him a second to process the question, and then he finally responded to the stranger, as he really couldn't care less at this point and he was going to die anyways, might as well be honest.
"I was planning on jumping off this building"
"Ah, I see. Well, at least you were honest about it. Those kids who say they come up here for the view- why lie? It's not like I'm planning on handing you in to the police or any shit like that? I just am asking why you're on the top of a building after the building closes."
Midoriya just nods, listening to the stranger rant about his problem with suicidal teenagers lying about not wanting to die when there on the top of a building
"Seems like you have experience with kids coming up here then?"
"Well yeah, its a tall building in a quiet neighborhood. And kids have access to it, so of course the suicial ones are gonna use this building to die from. It just makes sense in their minds I guess, or in your mind to I guess... hey kid, what makes this building so convenient for suicide?"
What makes this building so convenient for suicide?
"I don't know, I guess I've never much thought about it. This was just the building that came to mind when I said 'Hey, whats a tall building I can go to without looking suspicious in a quiet neighborhood"
"You sure do think a lot about weird things kid"
"I'll take that as a complement for now"
"Hey kid"
"yeah?"
"First off, what's your name? I can't just keep calling you 'kid'"
"Its Izuku Midoriya sir"
"alright Izuku, what do you think you're gonna accomplish from dying? Do you think it will just solve all of your problems? Dying just sends your problems to other people, at least inflict some damage to the people that hurt you before you decide you wanna throw yourself off a giant building"
"What are you trying to say?"
Midoriya had never thought of dying in the way this person had just described it.
"Well kid, I happen to lead a group of villains"
Midoriya tensed up, but he could tell that there was no bloodlust directed towards him, so he calmed down a bit
"You want me to join your little group of villains?"
"What else could I be trying to say at this point kid?"
"What's in it for me?"
Midoriya was already sold, but he wanted to know what this guy had in mind before blindly joining some group of villains
"Revenge. Revenge on all the people that hurt you, that told you 'you cant', to anyone you want to hurt."
Midoriya turned to the man, who was already looking at him
"..Alright. I'm in- uh, sir- what's your name?"
"Tomura Shigaraki"
"Alright, I'm in Shigaraki"
Shigaraki smiled at the kid, he could tell he had potential, even if he was just a little kid. He wondered how to other members would react to getting a new member
