“At least they set us up in a nicer hotel,” Amanda said, shutting the door behind herself and Olivia.
“It makes up for the fact that we have to pretend to be scum of the earth for the next twenty four hours.” Olivia dropped her overnight bag on the bed and began to unpack. “I hate having to wear this kind of clothes; I feel tacky.”
“It’s alright, we’ll be tacky together,” Amanda laughed, then stopped short on her way to the bed—“Wait, they didn’t get us a double?”
“They figured it would make us as cops,” Olivia said, shrugging. “In the event we end up bringing any of the suspects here.”
Amanda grimaced, her nose wrinkling. “I hope it doesn’t go that far,” she grumbled, starting to unpack her bag. “You want the top drawer, then?” She opened the lower of the two, placing in some pants before she grabbed some hangers from the closet.
Olivia raised an eyebrow as she saw a sequined dress in Amanda’s hand. “Sure, I can take the top drawer.”
Amanda turned back to retrieve a couple more cocktail dresses from her bag, “Oh—breaking out the leather pants again, huh?” She snickered, nodding toward the pair in Olivia’s hands.
“I don’t get a lot of opportunities to wear them,” the brunette said, chuckling as the pants found their place in the drawer.
“I haven’t seen those since that time at the Super Bowl, I think,” Amanda teased, nudging Olivia slightly. “What was her name again? Becky or somethin’?”
Olivia’s eyes twinkled playfully. “Her name was Bethany, and you’re right; I don’t think I’ve worn them since.”
“You know,” Amanda chuckled, “we haven’t done this in a while.” She dug around in her bag, continuing to unpack.
“Done what?” Olivia asked, passing by on her way to set up some more of her personal effects in the bathroom. “Gone undercover?”
Amanda stood, having fished her phone charger from her duffel. “Yeah, but… going UC as a couple, too. It’s not just your pants making repeat appearances.”
Olivia emerged from the bathroom, the slightest of smirks on her lips. “You’re… not wrong.” She sat down on the bed, heaving out a sigh. “If things get rough in there, I’ve got you, okay? If you need to tap out for any reason, say the word.”
“I’ll be fine, Liv,” Amanda reassured her, kicking off her shoes before lying back on the bed beside her. “We’re not there to gamble, we’re there to find out anything about the girl we found.”
“Okay then,” Olivia said, nodding decisively. “Should we run through the basics again?” she asked, brushing her hair back into a tight bun.
Amanda grinned, jumping up to take her sizeable makeup bag to the bathroom. “I think I know what I’m doing, Liv.”
“And what exactly are you doing, detective?” Olivia quipped, raising an eyebrow as she watched Amanda pass by.
“Right this second?” Amanda said, poking her head out with an eyeshadow palette in hand, “Coating myself in enough glitter to make a unicorn jealous.”
Olivia rolled her eyes. “This is why I don’t do honey traps anymore. Too much effort.”
