Work Text:
Ever since he was little, all Kageyama could hear was the idea of soulmates.
When a person was born, an outline of a heart was imprinted on their wrist. If the person finally meets their soulmate, the heart would be filled with black ink and their initials would be written in the middle with white. However, soulmates don't always work out. If your purposed significant other were to reject you, the hearts would fade to grey.
And for Kageyama Tobio, the four grey hearts on his wrist were stacked right on top of each other.
--------
Nervously, the young Tobio played on the hem of his shirt before walking up to his senpai, who was practicing his serves on the other side of the court.
“Oikawa-senpai could you please teach me how to-”, a loud slap reverberated throughout the gym.
The sting on his right cheek burned as he realized that he was now lying on the floor. ‘Oh,’ Tobio sat up, ‘Oikawa-senpai hit me.’
Getting back up, he could now clearly see Iwaizumi, another senpai, yelling at Oikawa and Kunimi and Kindaichi jogging towards them. Hunched over, Kageyama groaned slightly for his back was a little sore from the fall.
Iwaizumi laid his hand on Kageyama’s shoulder, “Are you ok, Kageyama-kun?” His eyes drifting towards Oikawa's wrist, Kageyama wasn't able to produce any words out of his mouth.
Iwaizumi followed his kohai's line of sight before dropping his hand off his shoulder.
"Tooru- your wrist..."
Lifting up his arm, Oikawa saw the initials of KT right in the middle of the fourth heart.
Kindaichi and kunimi's eyes widened as a disgusted look appeared on Oikawa's face. Iwaizumi and the others turned to Kageyama, who was suddenly hyperventilating.
"I-I'm so sorry,"
Soon after, the world turned black for Kageyama Tobio.
……
Waking up, Kageyama covered his eyes with his arm in order to shield the light bulb's harsh rays.
Coming back to reality, the male realized that the once empty hearts on his wrist were all filled with blank ink.
He rolled right off the bench but paid no attention to pain. For he was too busy staring at his wrist. He hovered his fingers over each heart, carefully reading the imprinted initials.

The realization hit him like a bus. Those initials belonged to his fellow teammates. More specifically, the ones that hated him.
“So you’re finally awake,"
Startled, Kageyama turned to the voice's owner. Iwaizumi stood at the doorway of the locker room with his arms crossed. Each step Iwaizumi took was cautious and steady. To Tobio, he was like a ticking time bomb, scary and unpredictable. Taking a seat on the bench, Iwaizumi patted a spot next to him, motioning for Kageyama to come over.
For some reason, Kageyama could feel his heart beat a little faster while his chest grew tighter. Taking a seat next to his senpai, Tobio held his breathe.
“First things first, are you okay?” Iwaizumi asked. Kageyama timidly nodded in response. "Okay that's good," Iwaizumi nodded before taking a deep breath in. Kageyama felt the pit of his stomach churn as Iwaizumi made direct eye contact with him.
"Kageyama, look...Kindaichi, Kunimi, Oikawa and I weren't expecting anyone else to be a part of the bond. We all thought that this was it even though we all had another heart on our wrists....Kageyama....we're happy just the way things are,"
During that exact moment, it felt as if someone shot a spear through Kageyama’s chest.
“Right now, all three of them are happy and in love. And if it were between me and their happiness I would always choose them over myself. I’m sorry Kageyama Tobio, but we are going to reject you as our soulmate,”
Kageyama looked down at the ground, accepting that he was rejected. He then heard soft whispers from the doorway. Turning his head, he saw three figures quickly disappear.
“Alright then Iwaizumi-san. Goodbye then,”
Kageyama kept his gaze low, not wanting to face anyone for the rest of the day.
Even though the overwhelming pain in his chest grew, he didn't cry when he walked home. He didn't cry when he entered his home. He didn't cry when he finally took refuge in his room. However, it would be a lie in saying that he didn't let a few tears fall. Kageyama hugged the little volleyball plushy that his grandfather gave him a few years back.
Life didn’t get any better for Kageyama Tobio. The tension between him and his teammates only grew. Every time he saw the happiness between the four of them, it made Kageyama’s heart sting, knowing that he wasn’t needed.
Overtime, that sadness turned into built up frustration and then during his third year, all that locked up emotions finally broke out.
---
Kageyama walked to the vending machine to buy some milk as he always did after school.
It has been two weeks since his final volleyball match, and the harsh words of his teammates still lingered in his head.
“We’re tired of your dictatorship King,”
The boy shuddered at the memory and inserted his money into the machine. After the small carton came out, Kageyama poked the straw through the hole. Satisfied with his purchase, he began to stroll away before he heard someone say his name.
He peeked around the corner to see all four of his (ex) soulmates talking. With Oikawa slung over Kunimi’s shoulder and Iwaizumi plus Kindaichi standing right across from them, leaning against the wall.
“So Kageyama really did that… I see,” Iwaizumi hummed to himself.
“See Iwa-chan, imagine if he was still one of our soulmates. There’s just no room for him here,”
“Tooru’s right. The only goal he has in the that tiny brain of his, is to be the champion in volleyball. Sigh. When will he ever learn about team work?” Kindaichi shook his head in disappointment.
“I swear, he better not attend Aoba Johsai next year. It would best if he were to just the damn sport but we all know that’s bogus,” Kunimi tsked, hugging Oikawa in the process.
The four started to walk away while chatting about whatever popped into their mind.
Kageyama however, could only stand still with the unforgiving pain in his heart.
“I knew that they hated me but why does it hurt so much?”
In agony, Kageyama slowly crouched down, holding his head, Looking into the pitiful skyk, the male choked as his tears streamed down his face. “I- I just wanted to be loved?” he cried out in a broken voice. The faces of Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Kindaichi and Kunimi appeared in his mind.
“What did I do?!” He sobbed in frustration, sorrow, and most of all, in betrayal.
Getting up, Kageyama sniffled while wiping away his tears.
With a shattered heart, Tobio ran home, hoping to forget about everything. However, it was no use. For the acceptance letter to Aoba Johsai sat on his desk in a taunting way.
Just looking at the paper, caused his anger to erupt. Grabbing the letter, he violently tore it apart. “WHAT DID I DO?!” He yelled while ripping the paper into shreds.
After his outburst, Kageyama huffed as he finally went back to reality. Looking at the letter, that was now in million pieces, the male slowly crouched down. “W-what have I done?” he stammered.
Grabbing some of the pieces, he tried to put the letter back together. However, it was proved to be a challenge. The letter was now one of the most hardest puzzles to solve.
Tobio gave up and sat against the wall, gripping onto the small fragments.
“We don’t want you,”
Tears strolled down his face as he curled himself into a ball. “I-I just want to be loved…” he whimpered as the day slowly faded away.
It wasn’t the letter that was the hardest puzzle to solve. It was his heart.
---
Kageyama looked down on his outfit one more time before finally entering into the halls of Aoba Johsai.
“Hello, would you like to join the tennis club?”
“Hey, you look you would be perfect for the basketball club, with your height and all that,”
“Do you want to join the swim team, though we have a team mate that looks kind of like you…”
As students started to swarm around him, Kageyama felt pressured and started to walk faster to his class. He quickly took a seat at the very back of the classroom. He opened up his notebook and started to doodle on the pages.
“ Ahem Students, class has started so please pay attention,” the teachers voice rang. However, Kageyama couldn’t care any less and so went back to his notebook.
Ten minutes into class, Kageyama heard the door bust open and a freckled boy with green hair appeared. Sweat dripped down his face as he panted holding onto the door knob for support.
Sweat rolled down his face while he panted. Holding onto the door knob for support, he wheezed, “S-sorry I’m late Ma’am! I-I woke up wheeze late, and I promise this won’t happen again!” The teacher just rolled her eyes while tsking at the 90 degree bowing boy.
“Go sit next to… uhhh.. What’s your name again…? Oh yeah, go sit by Kageyama-kun,” she instructed.
The male nodded and obeyed her orders. Kageyama followed the boy’s movement with his eyes. The green haired boy waved at Kageyama while he just nodded back in response. After that little encounter, Kageyama continued to doodle in his notebook for the rest of class.
---
15 minutes before the school ended, Kageyama groaned at the words he dreaded.
“Alright class, you and the person next to you will group and do a project about any desired topic. The amount of effort put into this assignment will determine how the rest of the year will go,” the teacher explained.
Kageyama smoldered, due to the fact of not wanting to socialize with anyone. “So I guess we’re partners. My names’s Yamaguchi Tadashi,” ao voice interrupted Kageyama’s thoughts.
“Kageyama Tobio,” he introduced himself.
“So uhm… do you want to start working on it tomorrow? Is the library good?” Yamaguchi asked. Kageyama paused before nodding in agreement. “O-oh! Okay, um, cool then! Guess I’ll see you tomorrow,” Yamaguchi cheerfully said while waving goodbye.
As Yamaguchi left the room, Tobio couldn’t help but stare at his partner’s seat. He had a weird feeling but then shook it off. “Ugh, I hate school,”
Kageyama groaned while placing his head onto his desk
School: 1

----
Yawning tiredly, Kageyama trudged the halls, wanting to exit the school. However, he took a different route in order to avoid his fellow classmates.
The view of the gym up ahead caught Kageyama’s interest. ‘Might as well’, he thought. As he took a peek inside, a volleyball rolled toward him. He panicked and quickly kicked it back into the gym while pressing his back against the wall.
“Where the fuck did this volleyball come from-you know what, nevermind…”, Kageyama heard from the inside of the gym.
“Any who’s...First years! Welcome to the Aoba Johsai Volleyball Club,” Oikawa’s exclaimed, “Oh wow. You two are the most cutest first years that have ever walked into the doors of Aoba Johsai, well besides me and Iwa-chan of course-”
Kageyama snorted when he heard Oiawa’s little comment while everyone else groaned. HE covered his mouth, making sure no sound came out. “So is tobio-chan coming in late or did he get held back with something?”
Oikawa asked with a usual smug look on his face. Peeking a bit inside Kageyama watched as Kindaichi and Kunimi looked at each other in confusion, “We actually haven’t seen him,”
“Really? I swore me and Iwa-chan saw him in the hallways… I guess that could've been Haru-but I’m pretty sure it was Tobio-chan...Mad dog-chan go and find him!”
But it was already to late, Kageyama had already ran at super sonic speed out of the school.
---
Yamaguchi and Kageyama took a seat at one of the vacant tables while placing their bags beside them.
“U-um...what would you like to do?” Yamaguchi squeaked out.
“Uhh...I don’t know...What do you want to do?”
“I don’t know either,” Yamaguchi sighed.
Both boys looked away from each other. Kageyama’s eyes roamed around the room for any inspiration. When his eyes finally landed on the scorpio pin on his backpack next to his Mother Mother pin, an idea sparked in his head. “How about we research on astrology signs? We can explain what they each mean or something...but if that’s only if you want to do it,”
Kageyama watched as Yamaguchi lit up with excitement, “Yeah! That actually sounds cool. You see, I sort of have a fascination for astrology,” he nervously chuckled, “What sign are you? I’m a scorpio.”
Kageyama thought for a moment before saying, “My birthday is December 22nd...so I believe I’m a...capricorn?”
Yamaguchi nodded and took our some pens, paper, and his computer. Facing Kageyama, Yamaguchi smiled, “Kageyama-san, I think this might be a fun project.”
Taken back from the boy’s excitement, it took him a while to nod and say, “I guess so. Pleasure working with you, Yamaguchi-san.”
----
As the lunch bell rang, Kageyama immediately sprung up from his desk and went on to search finding a vending machine that contained milk.
“Kageyama-kun! Where are you going?” he turned around to see Yamaguchi, at his desk, calling his name.
“Oh, I’m just going to buy something from the vending machine…”
“Oh ok and by the way I can’t meet up after school for the project, but let’s meet after school on Monday!”
Kageyama nodded and tried to match Yamaguchi’s smile.
A couple of steps to the vending machine, Kageyama just stopped. ‘Wait, why did I want to smile back at him… Whatever,’
He started to speed walk seeing that a vending machine was up ahead. Kageyama’s eyes sparkled while surveying all of the flavors. AFter a sold 15 minutes, he decided to go with strawberry milk. He hummed a little tune as he picked up the small carton. However, when he turned around he could feel his heart stop. There they were. The people he wanted to avoid for the rest of his life.
“Yahoo Tobio-cahn~! What a coincidence seeing you here!” Oikawa exclaimed, appearing right in front of Kageyama’s face with Kunimi right behind him.
“Hello, Oikawa-san. Kunimi-san,” Kageyama bowed.
The younger boy just huffed and Oikawa continued talking, “You know Tobio-chan, I was surprised not seeing you at volleyball practice, so why is that? Why didn’t you come?”
Kageyama kept his head down low, not responding. Oikawa just tsked and rolled his eyes, “fine then, stay silent. We didn’t want a tyrant king on our team anyways.”
Kageyama looked up. Seeing that Oikawa already walked away, Kageyama sighed, but was startled to see Kunimi glaring at hin. Giving the last death glare, Kunimi scoffed and he spun on his heel, chasing after his boyfriend. The blue eyed boy watched the two figures disappear, leaving him once again, alone. Ring! Hearing that the lunch period ended, Kageyama sighed and made his way to the classroom, throwing out his milk as well for he had just lost his appetite.
Yamaguchi waved at Kageyama who just walked through the door, but then quickly put his hand down, his smile fading as well. Seeing that Kageyama had his head down and was milkless, Yamaguchi nervously laughed, “Kageyama-kun?”
The ravenette ignored Yamaguchi and laid his head down his desk, clearly giving off the signal he did not want to talk.
Yamaguchi, being the kind person he is, was about to give him a pat on the back as a sign of his sympathy but then retracted his hand. He gave Kageyama one last worried glance before turning his attention to the teacher.
---
Kageyama kicked the stray rocks that sat along the sidewalk. School just ended and he was making his way home. He looked up as he came near a cafe. Looking through the window, he could see a familiar freckled boy.
Yamaguchi sat in his chair with his head down in a guilty manner while a tall blond male stood across him. Kageyama watched as the taller one yelled at Yama before stomping out of the cafe, looking furious.
Looking from where the blond walked to were Yamgaguchi sat, Kageyama contemplated his choices before walking into the coffee shop.
The bell rung as he entered, “Uh...Hey Yamaguchi…”
The male looked up. His eyes were glossed wile his nose was tinted red. Sniffling, Yamaguchi wiped eyes and smiled, “H-hey Kageyama-san. What are you doing here?”
Kageyama placed his weight onto his other leg and rubbed the back of his neck. “I-I kind of saw what happened there…” he answered in a soft tone.
“Oh...sorry that you have to see that,” Without thinking, Kageyama blurted out, “Would you want to come over to my house and talk about it?”
------
“Make yourself comfortable, you can sit on my bed if you want,” Kageyama reassured, placing their bags down at his desk.
“O-Okay, thank you,” Yamaguchi nodded. Taking a seat on the soft bed, Kageyama followed. The two sat next to each other in silence, not knowing what to say.
After the fasco, Kageyama was kind enough to offer Yamaguchi a person to talk to. And so here they were, at his house.
“He was soulmate,” Yamaguchi said breaking the silence.
Kageyama snapped his head towards Yamaguchi with wide eyes. Pulling up his sleeve, Yamaguchi let out a broken chuckle, “Keyword, he was”
Kageyama looked at his wrist to see the grey heart with the initials TK written in them.
“Oh..”
“Yeah. We met when we were younger and I would follow him everywhere. Though, he didn’t want me there. But the day of our graduation he told me that instead of going to Seijoh he was going to Karasuno. Just a couple ago he asked to meet up, after ignoring my texts. I though it was going to be a date, but it turns out he just wanted to formally reject me,” Yamaguchi explained. He then let his back land on the soft mattress, letting out a sigh.
“Too be honest,” Yamaguchi started, staring at the ceiling, “I never excelled in anything. I received average grades but was never the established as the ‘smart kid’ of the class. I’m also not the most athletic person and I have these ugly acne scars, which most people think are weird freckles. My soulmate...was something that I always wanted to meet. It was like hope for me. HOme that even though I wasn’t special, they would treat me like gold and want me…”
A few cold tears rolled down the sides of his face. Yamguchi covered his eyes and coughed, “B-but I guess I was wrong… What type of loser gets rejected by their soulmate?”
Kageyama thought for a bit before revealing his own wrist. “Then I guess I’m worse than a loser,” he sadly smiled. Yamguchi lifted his arm, peeking at Kageyama. However, he then shot right back up in order to scan the four grey hearts engraved on Tobio’s wrist.
Yamaguchi waved his hand around frantically, apologizing, “I’m so sorry- I wasn’t thinking- I just- UGH-”
Yamaguchi his his face in his hands, mumbling all of his sincere sorry’s. Kageyama let the corners of his lips lift up as he watched the boy’s ears tine pink. “It’s okay. I mean, being losers together is way cooler than having soulmates anyways,” he joked.
---
“Kunimi, Kindaichi, can you ask Matsuda-sensei for some extra textbooks? Their class is just down the hall,” the teacher instructed, not looking away from the text book he held in his hand. The two boys sighed and got up from their seats and made their way down the hall.
“Isn’t Kageyama in Matsuda’s class?” Kindaichi asked, halfway there. Kunimi thought for a second before nodding.
The two soulmates walked into the classroom to see their ex-soulmate chatting with another boy. The freckled boy motioned for Kageyama to come closer. He then whispered something into his ear which caused Kageyama to break into a chuckle.
Feeling tares, Kageyama turned around, only to see Kindaichi and Kunimi to turn away. “Sensei, can we go grab those textbooks from the back of the class?” They asked. Bored and tired, the teacher looked up at them, “Go ahead,” and then went back to their phone. The two boys walked down the aisle of students, going past Kageyama. After Yamaguchi cracked another joke, Kageyama cleared his throat from laughing, “Yamaguchi, we need to focus on our work” the blue eyed pouted.
“Cute,” Kindaichi and Kunimi thought to themselves. However, a bit embarrassed, the two quickly rushed out of the classroom.
---
Yamaguchi and Kageyama trudged down the halls, for they stayed after school in order to finish their project. A bit exhausted, they decided to take a trip to the cafe for some refreshments and snacks. “Oh, Kageyama, I have to take a detour real quick. I”ll meet up with you in front of the school and then we can head off to the cafe,” Yamaguchi explained.
Nodding, Kageyama watched Yamaguchi run off, disappearing into the corridors. Left alone, Kageyama continued his stroll to the front gates of his school. Leaning against the brick wall, he took out his phone waiting for his friend.
"Tobio-chan! We meet again,~" hearing a familiar, sing song yet sly voice, Kageyama looked up from his phone and furrowed his brows. Seeing Oikawa and his three other soulmates, Kageyama straightened up and tilted his head up, trying to look composed when in reality he felt like tearing his soul out.
All four of his ex-soulmates were together right in front of him. "Soooo, Tobio, we heard that you’re doing a project with a classmate of yours...Do you mind telling us who they are? We're quite curious to see who would want to work with you,” Oikawa snickered, placing his hand to his hips.
"Hm...I don't see why you need to know," Kageyama hummed, trying to walk past them, but was inevitably shoved back. He gasped, feeling the oxygen get knocked out of his lungs and his back hitting the solid ground.
“Oi, Shittykawa- don’t hurt him," Iwaizumi scolded, but his words never reached Oikawa's head. "Don't be like that-" Oikawa started but was cut off by a green blur appearing in front of Kageyama. Yamaguchi's figure trembled a bit as he stood in front of Kageyama, shielding him protectively. "G-get away from him!" He yelled, his voice shaking as well.
Pushing Oikawa away, Yamaguchi turned around to Tobio, who was obviously shaken up, and handed him a hand, "You okay Kageyama san?"
Kageyama reached out, bit hesitant at first, but took it. Getting onto his feet, he dusted himself, "Thank you Yamaguchi," he whispered. Yamaguchi's eyes widened. His ears tinting a bit pink, Yamaguchi turned away, "No problem!" Looking at the four other boys, Yamaguchi cleared his throat and made sure to straighten his back, trying to look as tall as possible, "Kageyama san and I have somewhere to be, so he can't talk to you at the moment. Now, if you'll excuse us-"
"Hold up, you two could wait a couple of more minutes. So, what's your name little boy? Never seen you around here before," Oikawa spectated, raising a brow and tilting his head in a condescending manner.
"It's Yamaguchi Tadashi, since you know my name now, we'll be leaving. Goodbye," he bowed before grabbing Kageyama by the hand, interlocking fingers and leading him out of the school.
Out of sight, Yamaguchi dropped to the floor. "Yamaguchi!" Startled, Kageyama quickly came to his aid to see Tadashi's face flushed red, making him look like a strawberry.
"I-I can't believe I really said that!" He cried. Tadashi then leaped into Kageyama's arms, and instinctively, Tobio wrapped his arms around his friend. "That was so embarrassing," Yamaguchi muttered, voice muffled by Kageyama's chest.
A few moments passed before Kageyama cackled, losing control because of Yamaguchi's sudden outburst. "H-hey! Stop itttt," Yamaguchi whined, hitting his chest lightly. "I'm actually going to pass away," Tadashi pouted, breaking out of Kageyama's arms and furrowing his brows.
Kageyama let out a final wheeze. Whipping away a tear, Kageyama smiled, "Okay, okay. I'll stop, but we should probably get off the floor-" The both of them got up, leaning onto each other, laughing. But little did they know, about 15 feet away were the four Seijoh boys, watching after deciding to follow them.
" H-huh? What's this? " Seeing Yamaguchi and Kageyama together, being happy, made a strange feeling grow in their chests. Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Kunimi, and Kindaichi knew that they were the ones who rejected him, but it felt so wrong. It felt as if their heart,
Cracked.
------
Oikawa fiddled with his fingers and heavily sighed. Iwaizumi worriedly glanced at his boyfriend, "Oi, you alright? You haven't been acting like your usually self these past couple of days."
“Did we make a mistake?” Oikawa muttered under his breath.
Iwaisumi lifted a brow and tilted his head, "Huh?"
Regaining his preppy attitude, Oikawa smiled and shook his head, "Sorry Iwa chan, it's nothing. Let's go help Yuutaro and Akira with practice." And with that, Oikawa jumped up from his seat, leaving Iwaizumi confused.

Yamaguchi and Kageyama were having the best time of their lives. After finishing their project, which they got a perfect score on, they still continued as great friends. The two hung out every single day after school and even held occasional sleep overs whenever they could. Once summer break officially started, Yamaguchi and Kageyama truly were letting their inner chaos out. On days where they felt energetic, they went ahead and visited amusement parks and other extravagant places, while on days like these where they just enjoyed each other's company, they opted out for calm shopping trips and peaceful picnic 'dates'
The sun was still high up in the baby blue sky, radiating its warm glow. Every now and then small puffs of white clouds would passed by, molding into all different kinds of shapes and sizes. The wind blew a fresh breeze, gently blowing the blooming flowers. Kageyama took out another sandwich slice and looked over his shoulder. He was about to ask Yamaguchi something until his eyes caught a marvelous site. No words were able to stumble out of Kageyama's mouth. Yamaguchi smiled while basking in the sun's rays, giving him a halo effect. The tiny freckles on Yamaguchi's face appeared like the beautiful, luminescent constellations that lit up the night sky, and his fluffy hair, that could never be ironed straight, framed the small smiling face that could enchant anyone. Kageyama's eyes showed the softness he had towards Yamaguchi as he chanted the word, " Beautiful, " in his head.
Feeling a pair of blue eyes gazing at him, Yamaguchi turned around and titled his head, "Tobio?" Hearing his given name out loud startled the boy. " Oh- yeah, we agreed on addressing each other by first names, " Kageyama thought, chuckling to himself in amusement. Recomposing himself, Kageyama cleared his throat, "Yes Tadashi?"
God, Kageyama loved the way he said his friend's name. How it rolled off his tongue easily, he could just say it for hours on end and it would still give him the butterflies.
Yamaguchi giggled, creating the alluring smile that he always was able to manifest, "I was just wondering why you were staring at me."
Without hesitation or any given thought, Kageyama let the growing voice in his heart speak for him,
"I think I'm in love with you."
Realizing what he just blurted out, Kageyama slapped his mouth shut and let his face blossom into all different shades of red. " WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST SAY- " while his brain was malfunctioning, as a resolution Kageyama threw up all of the apologies in the world. "I'm sorry, sh*t, I didn't mean to say that out loud, it's just- god you were so beautiful- FUCK, SORRY, i didn't mean to- gAH- I understand if you never want to speak with me again-" Kageyama's rambling was quickly cut off by Tadashi. Kageyama froze as he felt the soft pair of lips in which belonged to the other male. His crush was kissing him. Throwing away his last bit of sanity, Kageyama wrapped his arms around Tadashi, returning the love.
It was like heaven, the two boys felt as if they were floating in space. Their souls became light, and to them the world finally stopped spinning. Kageyama closed his eyes and hummed into the kiss. Feeling as if hours passed by, the two broke apart, gasping for air. Their hearts pounded as their lungs burned. It was ecstasy, pure bliss. Huffing, Yamaguchi looked into Kageyama's blue eyes. The soothing yet captivating sapphire eyes that Kageyama Tobio held was able to make Yamaguchi's heart rate increase by each second. His ears and cheeks tinted pink, Yamaguchi nervously smiled, "I think I love you too, Tobio."
Suddenly, they both felt a warm tingling from their wrists. They looked down and witnessed the inks of their skins change. The former grey hearts lost it's jet black color, only leaving the black outlines of the hearts. The pink hearts worn on their wrists then transformed into another color, a soft pastel pink.
The boys held their breathe.

Yamaguchi Tadashi's initials on Kageyama's wrist, and Kageyama Tobio's initials on Yamaguchi's wrist.
Breaking the silence, Kageyama softly spoke, "Tadashi...we have matching hearts. Does this mean-"
"That we're soulmates?" Tadashi finished off.
Glassy eyes, Kageyama beamed, "We're soulmates Tadashi."
Yamaguchi quickly embraced Tobio, pulling him into another sweet kiss filled with love. Tobio pulled away and tilted Tadashi's chin up, "Stop smiling and let me kiss you properly," he breathed before catching Yamaguchi's lips once more.
But the blueberry boy couldn't even help himself, he let his lips curve into a smile as well. Yamaguchi took his turn in pulling away. He gazed into Tobio's eyes, gently pushing the hairs strands out of his face. "I love you," he whispered, kissing every feature on Kageyama's face. "I love you too," Kageyama smiled, finally taking Yamaguchi's face and kissing him with full of passion.
