It was just like any other day where Shide drove Shuyi home after work. Shide pulled up at his front porch, dropping Shuyi home first. Shuyi gave Shide a quick kiss on the cheeks and bid him goodbye. He took his work bag and left the car in a hurry.
Before Shuyi could reach his door, Shide came out of the car and called him, "Shuyi!"
Shuyi stopped and turned to look at Shide, who seems to have something to say but stopped for some reason. Shide came over from his car to where Shuyi stopped before splurting out the thoughts that he had in his mind.
"I don't want to send you home anymore."
Shuyi froze on the spot. There were so many questions that appeared in his mind. Why did Shide say this out of the blue? Did something happen? Was Shide tired of sending him home every day? He had never ask or demand him to do it. He was not that particular about getting sent home. He knows how to drive anyway. If Shide says he is tired, he is more than happy to be the one sending him home instead.
"You want me to send you home instead?"
Shide chuckled at his confused-looking lover. He reached out to free his hand by taking his work bag and placing it on the floor beside him. He held on to his hand and looked into his eyes.
"I want to go home together with you."
Shide's right hand reached into the pocket of his suit and took out a red box. He kneeled on his right knee and opened the box to reveal the proposal ring.
"Marry me?"
Tears of joy swelled in Shuyi's eyes before breaking into a fit of laughter. "Do you have to be so mushy?"
"Answer me?" The look that Shide had reminded Shuyi of the moment from five years ago. The day Shide first gave him the bracelet.
The memories from five years ago came flooding back into his mind. He could still remember Shide wearing the bracelet on his right wrist, telling him only to wear what he had gifted him from then on. The subsequent confession in his native language of wanting to be the only one for the rest of his life. Shide had also asked for his answer. That time, he was too overwhelmed to reply but reacted to it by pulling him in for a kiss.
This time, he is ready to give him back the promise of spending the rest of their life together.
"Gao Shide, I want to go home together with you."
“我不想送你回家.”
"我想和你一起回家."
