this is home

Summary:

There's never a dull moment in Heights Alliance. Sometimes it's villain attacks and intense training exercises, but more often than that it's the sheer domestic chaos of Kirishima getting his hardened body stuck in the wall, Uraraka accidentally floating a freshly-made cake up onto the ceiling, and Kaminari causing the kitchen to be invaded by flies. No matter the circumstances they find themselves in, Class 1-A takes on the world together, wreaking havoc and aggressively supporting each other as they do.

A collection of one-shots about all the hilarious and awkward things that happen when you have 20 super-powered teenagers living under one roof.

Notes:

this is my first attempt at bnha fic! any comments or feedback would be super appreciated!

the title comes from the song 'this is home' by cavetown, one of my favorites.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: setting some ground rules

Chapter Text

Class 1-A Dorm Rules (Recorded As Needed by Iida Tenya, Class 1-A Representative)

  1. There will be no running, roughhousing, or irresponsible quirk-usage in the dorm.
  2. Lights out is 11 pm on weekdays and 1 am on weekends.
  3. The settings of the thermostat in the living room are not up for debate.
  4. All food in the kitchen must be labeled with the owner's name and the date it was stored. Do not eat or drink something belonging to a classmate without express permission.
  5. Laundry time slots are listed on the door to the laundry room. Sign up for a slot by placing your name and room number in the chart. If someone else’s laundry is in the machine during your time slot, go to their room and request that they move it. Do not dump their clothes on the floor, blow their clothes up, burn their clothes with acid, set their clothes on fire, or perform any other sort of destruction against them.
  6. Music will be played at appropriate volumes only. If someone complains that you are disturbing them, kindly turn your music down. Do not play your music even louder out of spite, and certainly do not use your hero costume’s speakers for that purpose.
  7. If you lose your dorm key, you must go to the front office to request and pay for a new one. You may not ask Yaoyorozu to make a new one for you.
  8. The official school rules state that students are not allowed on the “opposing gender’s” side of the dorm after 8 pm. A few caveats apply in this specific dorm:
    • Mineta is not allowed to be on the girl’s side of the dorm at any time of day. (Ashido reserves the right to ‘deck him’ if she ever finds him up there, and told me I needed to write that down.)
    • Mineta is also not allowed within a 10-foot radius of the girl's staircase, or onto the elevator unsupervised.
    • Tokoyami can go wherever they want, because we trust them to make good decisions, and also gender is a social construct.
  9. Always turn the lights off when you leave a room, but make sure that Hagakure is not in there before you do.
  10. Do not take advantage of your classmate’s quirks to solve problems unless there is an emergency situation. This includes, but is not limited to: using Kaminari as a phone charger, using Todoroki to control the temperature of your food, using Hagakure or Jirou to eavesdrop on conversations, using Yaoyorozu to replace something you lost (see rule #7), using Sero to fix something you broke, and using Kouda to have an argument with Aizawa-sensei’s cat.
  11. Speaking of Aizawa-sensei’s cat: do not kidnap her and force her to cuddle with you just because you are sad. Cuddles will be properly distributed by your classmates when it is deemed necessary, you do not need to traumatize a cat.
  12. Class President Iida is allowed to add new rules to the list whenever the need arises.

iida is clearly drunk on his class rep powers. i think we should declare a coup and rise up against him!

   13. No one else is allowed to touch or write on the dorm rule list.

  14. The class rule list will now be kept in a secret location, but it is nonetheless still relevant and applicable.
