Chapter 1: castaway

Chapter Text

“So, you stole a cat, dressed it up to look like you, sent it walking down the street to bite small children, tried to make people bow down to you again amidst the chaos, and put a spell on them so now they can’t stop bowing at nothing.” The Asgardian court turned their attention to the darkly dressed sorcerer in shock. He smiled and tried to wave but the shackles prevented him from doing so. “Is there anything that you have to say for yourself?”

“Well, no. All that you report is true. It was a bit of fun that maybe went a little too far.”

“Maybe? A little girl is in therapy. Loki, this isn’t even the worst thing that you’ve done on earth! You’re pure evil!” One of the councilmen exclaimed.

“Thank you.” Loki said with a smile. The onlookers muttered amongst themselves, in disbelief that Loki could be so confident in his wrongdoings. But then again it was Loki.

“Order! Now, Loki Odinson, the high council will now take a moment to decide your punishment.” Loki chuckled to himself. Last time that they gave him a “punishment” all he had to do was apologize to the wronged parties. He didn’t expect for this ruling to be much different. He squared his shoulders confidently and gave his signature cocky smile as the councilmen returned. “Loki Odinson, in the case of you against, well, pretty much everyone on Earth, we find you guilty. Your punishment is one that we should have dolled out years ago. You shall have your powers stripped and will be cast down to earth where you will live with the Avengers. You must learn to be good. Once you’ve completed the Fifty Tasks of Goodness you shall be granted reentry to Asgard and your powers will be returned to you. Court is adjourned.” As the lead councilman hit his gavel, the spectators looked over to Loki to see his reaction.

“What?! You can’t do that! You cannot take away my powers. This is what I do! I’m the bad guy! How shall I learn to be good amongst those heathens? And the Avengers of all people? This is ludicris!” But his complaints fell on deaf ears as he was quickly transported into a spaceship. Without the Bifrost, they were the only way of travelling.

He yelled and bickered the entire time but no one was there to hear him. They’d placed him in a separate compartment where he could fume and be upset all by himself. The Avengers had already received word of his arrival and had agreed. Seeing it as a time to help the man (and maybe get some payback). Thor was just glad that his powers had finally been stripped. He was always afraid that Loki would anger the wrong person who was just a little smarter or a little stronger than him and something bad would happen. He saw it as an intervention (and to get brotherly payback).

When they landed at the compound a while later, the entire team was there to greet him. He had switched from loud disagreement to quiet pouting.

“Loki! It’s good to see you again dear brother!” While his bonds were being removed by the Asgardian soldier tasked with transporting him to Earth, he simply glared at his brother as if they were still kids fighting over who would get the last dessert at dinner. Thor simply chuckled heartily. “Aww I’ve missed you too.”

“Welcome to the compound. We hope that you see this more as a learning experience rather than a prison.” Captain America said. He stood tall and gave that smile that had won citizens over for years. Loki rolled his eyes.

“Hi, Mr. Loki! I’m Peter. I think you and I are actually gonna be good friends. But I understand if you wanna settle in first. This place is so much fun. We have everything! Mr. Stark makes so much cool tech and he’s always inventing new things. We’ve got movies and F.R.I.D.A.Y. and-”

“Okay, kid. Thank you for that adorable introduction,” Tony said as he ruffled Peter's hair which he knew he hated. Peter groaned and tried to fix it. “Alright, no use standing on the roof anymore. Lets go inside and get you acquainted with everything.”

Loki had a feeling that this whole “being good” thing was going to be harder than he thought.
