Mae died, or she assumed she did, since being a human soul felt no different than being a human. As a PhD graduate in ecology and psychology, she spent most of her life in American southern swamps performing research. When she wakes in Devildom, nothing could prepare her for the differences. Though excited for an amazing new environment, she finds that the blond man forced to accompany her around town is less than kind. Still, even with his blatant disrespect, why does she feel so inclined to remain near him?
Satan found the faux-human in the royal gardens on pure chance, and he's yet to shake the ice from his veins. She smells...wrong, but none of his brothers agree. As the Demon Council begins a plan to send Mae home, Satan begins his investigation into her real origin. As much as he would enjoy causing the eldest brother trouble, he feels that allowing a conniving demon to roam the Mortal Realm is irresponsible. Besides, that scent seems rather alluring. Perhaps spending time making sure no lesser demons devour the "human" isn't entirely a waste of his reading time.
