Summary
Growing up, you'd lived life like many other young kids in Sinnoh. You were handed a partner pokemon, sent off into the wild in pursuit of adventure and fame. The first few gyms had been laughably easy, and perhaps you grew too comfortable, too big for your britches: by the Elite Four you were exhausted and feeling more trodden upon than someone of your age should've felt, with your faithful pokemon the only things keeping you afloat. It was no surprise that after your first battle you turned tail, booking it home with your broken pride held close to your chest.
Sometimes you wondered why you were sent off early; why any child was sent off that early in their life. Sure, some made it, but the bulk of them weren't so lucky.
It took you until the age of 20 to begin gathering those shattered pieces of your pride. You reconnected with your pokemon - you wouldn't attempt the gym challenge again, oh no, but you couldn't bear to see those pokeballs sit forgotten on your windowsill. To your surprise, not even six months later your mother bought you a ticket to Galar, "a new beginning" as she called it.
Maybe she was right. Maybe this was a new beginning.
