“You always carry lollipops with you or something? I always see you with one in your mouth.”
There goes your peace and quiet.
“Oh hi to you too Shibaru, did you want one?”
He grinned at the offer.
“What flavors do you have?”
You shoved your hand into your pocket pulling out three lollipops showing him, rolling your own lollipop from one side of your mouth to the other.
“Can I have the grape one?”
You shrugged and he took the lollipop from your hand leaving you with a red one and a blue one.
“What flavor are you eating?”
You popped the lollipop from your mouth showing him with a grin plastered across your face as the blue lollipop sparkled in the light of the setting sun.
“My favorites are the blue ones, so I always have more then one.”
He chucked at you as he shoved the purple wrapper into your pocket running off.
“SHIBARU I AM NOT THE GARBAGE!”
He stopped at the door turning and smiling at you before opening it.
“You’ll throw it away for me won’t you Y/N?”
And he was out of sight no doubt already halfway down the stairs. Oh well, at least you had the roof to yourself once again. Taking advantage of the quite you laid down looking at the sky. It was a mix of orange, pink and purple.
“You know if you lay on the floor like that your hair is going to get dirty.”
You sat up in a fright at the voice bitting down on your lollipop turning it into small pieces. Hearing the door close behind you you felt a figure behind you.
“Ushijima you make me bite my lollipop.”
You leaned your head back and sure enough there stood Ushijima in his practice clothes looking a little grumpy.
“Sorry, mind if I sit?”
You smiled at him setting your now naked lollipop stick next to you and he took a seat.
You both stared at the sky as the colors mixed together more getting closer and closer to being one color.
“Is something the matter Ushijima?”
Ushijima was normally quiet but he seemed upset.
“It’s nothing”
Oh this boy, getting words out of him was harder then trying to win tendou in a guessing game.
“I can tell it’s something.”
He put his hands down on the floor of the roof sighing and leaning back on them.
“It’s dumb don’t worry about it.”
You weren’t taking that answer.
“Just tell me.”
You turned your body so you were facing him now showing you weren’t accepting that response.
“Tendou ate my after practice snack and I don’t have pocket money so I can’t buy anything. I’m hungry.”
Oh, that is pretty silly, you giggled at his answer and he sighed again moving so he was facing you too.
“I told you it was dumb.”
You stopped your giggling and reached into your pocket revealing the red and blue lollipop.
“Here, take your pick.”
He seemed like he was going to protest the way he opened his mouth to say something and closed without a word leaving his lips. He glanced between you and the lollipops his hand hovering over each as if trying to pick which one you didn’t want to part with. After a few seconds he took the red one from your hand unwrapping it and putting it in his mouth.
“You like cherry Ushijima?”
He pulled the lollipop from his mouth as you unwrapped the blue lollipop you had left.
“I like the flavor but it’s a boring color.”
He put the lollipop back in his mouth immediately rolling it to the other side of his mouth.
“Boring?”
You questioned him as you put the blue lollipop in your mouth, the artificial blue raspberry flavor that had been absent from your mouth for a few minutes returned along with the familiar smooth feeling of the round lollipop.
“It does not really change the color of my tongue, it’s silly but I like the fun colors like blue and purple.”
If he liked the blue one why didn’t he take it?
“If you wanted the blue one you should have taken it.”
You pulled the lollipop from your mouth complaining and he laughed at you.
“Aren’t your favorite ones blue though?”
He remembered that?
“Awww Ushijima you’re sweeter than this lollipop”
You teased and you noticed he was staring at you.
“What? Do I have something on my face?”
He shook his head at your question taking the lollipop from his own mouth.
“Can I steal your color from you then?”
He wanted the blue lollipop now?
“Umm I already put my mouth on this lollipop though?”
He shook his head again a chuckle leaving his lips.
“Sometimes Y/N I think the amount of candy you eat rots your brain.”
Did he just- he just called you dumb.
“Ushi-“
You were cut off guard with the lift of your chin cutting your sentence short. Your faces were inches apart with his eyes staring straight into yours. His breathe tickled your lips sending a shiver down your spine.
“Can I kiss you Y/N?”
Your eyes widened at he question your lollipop falling from your hand hitting the floor, but who cares about the lollipop right now.
“Me?”
“Yes Y/N, you.”
The words were caught in your throat, when you opened your mouth not a sound came out. Failing to find the words you nodded your head and without a second gone to waste your lips met. Eyes now closed, his lips gently pressed against yours. You heard a familiar sound and when you peaked you could see the red lollipop on the floor, the familiar sound having been the sound of candy crashing with cement.
Before you knew it you felt a hand touch your waist and from the shock of the contact your mouth opened. Ushijima took it as an ok to press more and you felt his tongue. The colors of the sky were mixing more and more together just as the colors of your tongues were meshing into one.

“You really don’t have to walk me home Ushijima I can get there on my own.”
It was almost completely dark outside now and Ushijima had taken it upon himself to make sure you got home safely.
“It’s almost dark out Y/N I’m not letting you walk outside alone.”
He wasn’t changing his mind.
“Fine but I’m buying you something as a thank you.”
Before he could protest you ran into the convenience store that was up ahead planning to buy him a snack knowing he was still hungry, the lollipop that would not have helped much having been more filling to some stray ants rather than Ushijima.
“Fancy seeing you here Y/N, on your way home?”
“Oh Shibaru, yes I’m heading home, just buying a snack.”
You asked the man at the register if he had any buns left and lucky you there was one left so you bought it for Ushijima.
“You’re still hungry after all those candies?”
“I only had one lollipop Shibaru, I’m not an addict.”
He laughed at you as you gave the man at the register your money and he handed you a paper-bag with the warm bun inside.
“I can tell you ate more than one, your mouth is purple now. Did you have another grape one in your jacket?”
Oh. Right.
“No, I just had some of the red one.”
Good cover.
“Y/N what are you-“
“Ushijima! I never see you around here, don’t you live in the other direction?”
Shibaru stop asking questions.
“I’m walking Y/N home it’s too dark for her to walk alone.”
“It is dark, I better get home, you too Y/N.”
Good, an out.
“You’re right, let’s go Ushijima.”
You tried to pull him out the door but were stopped when Shibaru asked another question.
“Did you give Ushijima a lollipop too?”
And Ushijima just had to answer.
“She gave me a red one.”
“Then why is your mouth purp- oh”
Shibaru’s face changed from his normal color to red as he came to realize why both your mouths were purple when neither of you had a grape lollipop.
“BYE SHIBARU!”
And with that you yanked Ushijima out by the hand running as far away from Shibaru as possible.
