It’s electric, the way Nines brings a hand to his cheek.
The biting cold pierces the man's lungs, but he could care less. This kind of shit is a once-in-a-lifetime thing you only see in movies. He can’t let this up.
God, Gavin just knows he’s gonna be absolutely sick tomorrow. He can already feel himself growing tired. He’s already aware of his soaked clothes and the way it sticks to his skin. However, his brain just chants Nines, Nines, Nines. It’s all he wants.
Being this close, Gavin could map out every freckle on the taller android's face. He could count his eyelashes and see every little crease and dent in his nearly-perfect skin. He knows Nines can scan him right now and see how hard his heart thrums against his chest, or how his pupils are blown just from these few seconds of contact. He can tell that Nines knows what he wants.
Gavin brings a hand around the back of Nine’s neck, feeling the soft synthetic hairs and the high rise of his collared shirt. He can’t tear his eyes away.
Nines has this look of concentration, like he’s breaking down and analyzing every way this could go. Gavin knows he can’t help it. He can’t help calculating the possibilities and looking for efficient routes to get what he wants. However, there’s no way that’s more efficient than this: playing with Gavin’s heart, wrapping him around his finger.
Despite the fact that Nines took the first step forward, it’s Gavin who finally closes the distance. Nines’s lips are firm and plump, slotting against his perfectly. He needs to crane his neck a little, but Nines pushing down with this light pressure that lets the human know he’s right where he needs to be. Gavin's lips and chest tingle with an indescribable warmth, something he thought was only reserved for romance novels and movies. They’re still for a second, before their lips are dancing against each other, and neither of them can get enough.
Their soft breaths and the smack of their lips are somehow louder than the harsh hit of rain against pavement. Gavin smiles into the kiss like a love struck fool. Something in his heart swells when he feels Nines's lips curl into his. Gavin wasn’t usually one for romance, but he felt like he was close to getting the happy ending he’d dreamt of.
After a minute, Gavin needs to pull away. His lungs burn with the bitter chill and lack of air. He rests his forehead against Nines’s, smiling like a goofball with closed eyes. When he opens them, he’s happy to see that Nines has that same expression: it’s surprising, considering how stoic the android is.
The android’s face has a light, blue tint, rather than a pink one. It’s strange, but it’s endearing.
Gavin safely assumes he’s as pink as Nines is blue.
When Gavin’s done catching his breath, Nines pulls him back in for another kiss.
This time, there’s tongue and teeth. There’s a desperation that was missing from the first one. Nines pulls him impossibly closer, their bodies now flush.
Gavin likes how they fit together, like they were made for each other.
Gavin breathes hard as they kiss, not wanting to break apart again. His other hand drifts to Nines’s waist, while Nines has one hand on Gavin’s cheek and another on the small of his back.
Both of them knew that kissing spontaneously in the rain behind the DPD was probably a terrible idea. They were reminded of this when the heavy back door opened slowly, giving them time to pull away quickly.
“Nines, Gavin,” Connor greeted the pair, waving.
“Hey, Connor,” Nines responded, partly for Gavin. Gavin was still to stunned to say anything.
“Dad and I are gonna go home now. Are you coming with?” He eyed the duo for a second, calculating.
“Yeah, tell Hank I’ll be going with you guys in a minute. I just need to tell this idiot how to not run off and get himself pneumonia,” Nines proposed.
Connor nodded, a slight smirk on his face, knowing he’d hear about all of it later. He opened his umbrella before heading towards his car, like he was mocking them.
“I’ll see you at home, Nines.” Connor walked out of sight, turning the block. Hank had left a bit earlier. He was currently in the car waiting for the pair of android siblings.
Gavin took Nines’s hands in his.
“Tomorrow?” Gavin looked up at the android with vulnerable eyes that made Nines’ thirium pump crack just a little bit.
“Tomorrow.” Nines smiled and pecked Gavin’s check quickly with a loud smack before walking off in the same direction as Connor did.
Gavin stood there, stunned. He touched his cheek. The skin tingled just as his lips did earlier, and he wondered if he could get any more lucky.
When the human wakes up the next day, he is absolutely sick. His nose is stuffed, his head pounds, and his feels like his body is made of lead. However, when he thinks back to the previous night and how right it felt to kiss and hold the taller android, it’s all worth it in his mind.
He gets an earful from Nines, a smirk from Connor, and a look of warning from Hank when he arrives at the station, but he’s just ecstatic that he could finally shower the damn android with as much love and affection as he wants.
