Work Text:
Solomon watched, per his inclination. It was what he did best at this point, sorcery aside.
He’d watched humanity grow and change with the ages, starting with his rule and significant lifespan before he stepped down. Working to help humanity in dealing with the other realms- both celestial and demonic.
Solomon had been pleased to receive Diavolo’s letter- he’d had so many friendly dealings with the devildom, he supposed it was an obvious choice. He wasn’t as wrapped up in the sorcery council as he once was, but he still had significant knowledge and influence over the human realm’s “secret” magical community to add to his vast experience with the super natural.
But as the more senior and experienced ambassador of humanity, he couldn’t help but watch you.
You were a fish out of water here in the Devildom, but you did far more than adapt- no, you thrived.
As time inevitably passed and you collected pact after pact, Solomon was far from surprised; He could hardly blame the brothers- despite many of them rebuffing him- for it was in their very nature to be unable to resist temptation. You were just so bright and new, a breath of fresh air to the immortals the Devildom housed.
And though his immortality had been accidental, Solomon found that he wasn’t exempt from this line of thought.
Thus, Solomon watched. He watched you from afar, speaking to your housemates in the courtyards of R.A.D. as he looked on from classroom windows, or how you ate lunch at the mess hall, peering from across the crowd.
It took him some time to realize he was fixated on your mouth specifically, much as it embarrassed him to admit.
Said realization had hit suddenly, when he got the rare chance to speak with you directly; watching you speak, as your lips curled into a wry smile, it dawned on him how much he wanted to reach out to you- to cradle your jaw in his hand and swipe his thumb across your lower lip, to lean foreword and gently bite there instead of watching you chew at it.
The thought of hearing a delicate ‘chu’ as he separated from you rang in his ears and left a trail of goosebumps down his spine, nearly causing him to shiver.
A quiet desperation had seized him, and he realized how close he was to acting on that desperation.
He couldn’t help smiling as he excused himself from the conversation, savoring how confused you looked. If only you knew.
