Summary
AU where Harry is born much more powerful than in canon, and more importantly stumbles his way into becoming Merlin's successor before he even gets his Hogwarts letter. He gets a ring with a kind of simulation of Merlin in it, kind of like a portable wizarding portrait, and good old Merlin teaches Harry a great many things--including how to avoid Merlin's mistakes in love.
Not really sure where the plot will go, just wanted to put this first chapter out as a kind of feeler, to see if there's any interest in the idea. I've had a similar idea kicking around a long while, but suddenly it struck me that I haven't seen a lot of fics where Harry has a good ol' magic grandpa following him around telling him stuff. It's a common trope in Chinese web novels, which I read far too many of. Basically, a wise mentor-figure teaches the MC and also can tell him about traps, and plots, and miscellaneous stuff.
It's half a fix-it and half a weird romance-adventure thing. I don't know what it is.
With regards to romance, it might be a harem, maybe not, but Daphne and Fleur will most definitely be involved with Harry.
