Jason was sure that he’d forgotten something important the second he woke up.
In someone else’s bed.
With someone else.
The previous night was a bit blurry but he was a bit disappointed not to have any memories of this guy. Tall, tanned, messy black hair; in short, he was exactly Jason’s type.
Who had just woken up too. “Morning?” Even his voice was attractive. Was this what that nagging feeling was telling him about? No, it had to be something else. But what?
The other guy… P something (it definitely started with a P… maybe. Peter? Not Percival or Peregrine, surely. Although he was hot enough for Jason to look past a stupid name like that.) cracked his neck and groaned. “Crazy night, right? Great time though,” he winked and Jason could feel the blood rushing to his cheeks. His ears felt hot already. “You want breakfast?”
“S-sure.” He was still barely awake, and he felt a bit gungy, all things being considered. He needed a shower, then he could get his life together. Maybe try and remember the thing he'd forgotten. It was on the tip of his tongue, but every time he reached into the back of his brain, it jumped entirely out of his grasp. Which was fairly inconsiderate of it, all things considered.
“Okay, pancakes good?” Jason nodded as he jumped out of the bed in one fluid movement, lithe muscles clearly moving under his skin perfectly in concert with tendons, bones and ligaments.
“Sounds great. Um, this is going to sound very stupid but I don’t remember your name.” Jason had learned the hard way before that it was better to ask because he was terrible at pretending he knew after an incident with Tristan, his ex-girlfriend’s dad. That had been embarrassing to say the least. There was only so many times you could address someone as “hey you” or omit their name in conversation before it became painfully obvious you'd forgotten what they were called. He'd been halfway to calling Tristan “Thomas” before Piper had put him out of his misery.
“But you were screaming it all last night?” At Jason’s outraged look, he put his hands up in mock-surrender, “Kidding, I’m kidding. Percy, by the way.” He had a smile like an old Hollywood actor, just crooked enough to feel mischievous, but all white teeth in perfect alignment. However he noticed, in a way he hadn't last night, that one of the front teeth had a cap on it, like it'd been broken at some point.
“Jason.” And then he ran out of the room, clutching his stomach, dressed only in boxer shorts. While Jason was definitely not staring at his ass. Okay, fine, he was. It was an excellent ass, okay?
Okay, maybe he was. Whatever, if he was here it meant he had done a bit more than merely stare at Percy.
Now what was he forgetting? If he recounted the day before perhaps he could figure it out? The feeling of something being wrong was creeping up his spine, even though everything was fine!
It was fine, right?
He had gotten up, as usual and Leo and Reyna called him up to go to a party after classes and stuff because he was “getting boring” and “too shut in” and “needed to meet someone”. That was all Leo, to be fair. Reyna just said he needed to make new friends, and not only hang out with the same people he'd been around since he was a child or a young teenager.
He cast an eye to the rumpled duvet and raised an eyebrow. Well, he had done that for sure. Although jumping straight into bed with someone was a little different to just meeting someone. Then again, Leo would definitely be considering this a success. He'd practically shoved Jason in Percy's face, if he recalled correctly.
Then, classes as usual and going back to his dorm to get ready for this ordeal. Which he had to drive to…
Driving!
Fuck! Fuck! FUCK!
That’s what he’d forgotten! The driving test! This afternoon!
He jumped out of bed, almost face planting on the floor and tried to find his clothes from where they had… ended up around the room. After shoving his socks on inside out and his shoes on the wrong feet he ran into the kitchen to give his apologies to Percy.
“I’m so sorry but I have to leave-”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! What’s wrong? You were fine five minutes ago. Did something happen?” Somewhere in the back of Jason's head registered that the way his eyebrows furrowed together was quite cute.
There was something about Percy’s voice that was so soothing, it made Jason want to collapse into a chair and divulge all his life’s troubles to this guy he met literally yesterday. There was something in that quality that would make a really good therapist. Or a cult leader. Either or, really.
“I got- I got a driving test this afternoon and I didn’t study last night! I should've never gone to that party. I’m so stupid!” He realised he was kind of overreacting but he really wanted to not depend on his father and step-mother for anything if possible and Thalia definitely didn’t want to be his chauffeur for the rest of time so he needed to do this and do it well.
“I mean- if you really want… I can help you, I passed my test last year.” His face was wide open, friendly and helpful.
“Really?”
“Sure!” Percy shrugged, “We can study over pancakes and then you can ace your test. I got my study stuff still, haven’t had the chance to get rid of them yet. I really should actually,” he looked thoughtful, “Can you keep an eye on the pancakes while I go and get them?”
“You got it!” Jason did a pair of finger guns, regretting it immediately and started scratching his neck in embarrassment.
“You’re such a nerd. It’s cute though.”
