Summary
The news that the Survey Corps militia ambassadors will decamp near the village of Liberio is met with conflicting responses; the most relaxed fathers suddenly prohibit their sons or daughters from straying too close to the encampment, while match-making mothers promptly arrange balls. For days in advance, it is all that fills the gossip of every drawing room and salon – and by the time they do arrive, Zeke feels as if he has become so well acquainted with the notion of Commander Erwin Smith and his deputies, that he would be glad to see the back of them already.
Zeke Yeager is a man of many hats; adept cricketer, legal clerk and event organiser, proofreader, and a reformed rake. Yet when the Survey Corps Militia arrives in the village of Liberio, he finds himself encountering an unwelcome face from his past; the brooding Captain Ackerman – who once declared that the next time they met, he would kill him.
And if that doesn’t make things complicated, the local pastor is insistent that an unworldly giant is running around destroying prize vegetables. Can Zeke evade the searing gaze of Captain Ackerman? And will he be able to save the summer fete from the dastardly hands of a titan?
