Peaceful breezes can bring you many things,

A cool wind to cool you down,

A warm gust that makes you smile on a cold day,

A stranger on your windowsill....

Work Text:

Moonlight shines in through the large windows, creating long shadows in the sleepy castle. Lilac wanders the well-polished halls. Chakrams in hand, skillfully hidden inside the long folds of the cloak. Lilac can’t sleep, during the day Yogurt Cream had been busy with meetings and barters and sent the other away. He chose to relax and slept nearly all day. He’s wide awake now, with ears well trained to listen out for even the most silent footsteps.
Multiple times he checks in on the vast treasure rooms, often having to stomp suddenly to awake the guards. Scowling, the lazy guards' skin prickle under the hateful glare from the bodyguard of the house’s master.
Lilac paces past the master’s door to his chamber, a beautifully ornate door with jewels and gold embedded in it. He counts each extravagant detail, such things catch the eyes of thieves after all. A soft thump is heard from inside the room as he counts, then hushed curses.

“Kidnappers” Is the first thought that hits the bodyguard “Murderers! Thieves!” follow closely behind the first.

Lilac pushes the doors open with a strong kick, chakrams in hand, and ready to battle. What he finds is not an evil figure with a knife or a sack or a rope to steal away, and/or harm a defenseless sleeping treasure collector. Instead, that treasure collector is wide awake, long purple hair amess holding a large vase that hosts one of his many spirit helpers. They stare at each other unmoving and unspeaking. Lilac, a little embarrassed but he doesn’t show it, slips his weapons back into his cloak.

“Thank you for the concern Lilac!” Yogurt’s smooth and charming voice breaks the silence “but everything is alright~! The vase fell over”

The collector does feel guilty for lying to the bodyguard, but his reasons to be awake don’t deal anything with his well-being. So Lilac doesn’t have to know about it. Right? Lilac, unsatisfied with the response, searches the room. Under the bed, behind the curtains, anywhere big enough an invader could sneak inside.

“Now what are you doing?” Yogurt Cream huffs setting the vase back from where it fell.

“...”

“Come on! Talk to me!” The collector whines drawing out the 'e'

“...” Lilac turns to the other “...I am looking”

“At me?”

Yogurt Cream strikes a pose, as he flips his hair. Lilac stares blankly back.

“...no. I’m looking for what knocked your vase over.”

“Oh...You could at least humor me you know!” Yogurt pouts dramatically falling back onto his bed.

Lilac holds back a sigh and checks the room once more, just to be safe. A peaceful breeze flutters about the room, messing up Yogurt’s hair more.

“What are you doing awake?” The collector asks leisurely.

“...pardon?” Lilac turns his attention back to Yogurt.

“It’s so late and so hot,” he fans himself with his hand for emphasis “why aren’t you asleep? I can’t have you falling asleep on duty! What if I get kidnapped cause you’re asleep!” he whines stretching out on the bed.

“...”

Lilac is hit by waves of nerves, a peaceful breeze causes his cloak to flutter. His hands are balled up tightly.

“What if I do fall asleep? And he-”

He speaks before he can even finish his thought.

“...you’re the one who sent me away. I have no idea how you do it...you nap all day and you still sleep soundly at night...I slept longer than you usually do, and I am wide awake,” he gestures at his employer sprawled out lazily on the bed. “...even a light sleeper like you who can awake to the sound of a vase falling…it’s insane...”

Yogurt feigns dozing off to avoid the conversation, the peaceful breeze feels nice.

“Oh what Lilac doesn’t know can’t possibly hurt him! My sleeping habits aren’t about my safety at all”

He reasons with himself, this is his matter after all. He attempts to wave off the bodyguard, but Lilac stays strong. He stays at the side of the bed.

“Go away,” Yogurt whines “I can’t sleep with you standing in the corner!”

“...vases do not fall for no reason...something knocked it over…”

“If I told you I knocked it over will you let me sleep?”

“...If you told me, I wouldn’t believe you...because you just want me to go away”

Yogurt Cream picks up a decorative pillow and throws it at Lilac, who quickly on reflex slices the pillow in half. Then another one is thrown at him, which Lilac expertly blocks. Yogurt laughs then scowls.

“My pillows!” he yells

“...”

Yogurt turns away from Lilac pouting. Lilac, finally takes the cue. He tucks the chakrams back under his cloak.

“...have a good night.”

With that Lilac closes the doors, making sure no jewels or gold broke loose from off it. He thinks for a moment, should he go back to bed? He’s not tired, but maybe he will be by the time he gets in his room? Maybe he should check the grounds, getting outside might make him tired enough to pretend the awkward interaction was just a weird dream. So the flower-named boy walks out onto the ground outside the basic castle house.
The stars glisten in the dark sky, the moon full looming over Yogurca as oil lamps flicker in the distant town. It is a beautiful peaceful night, Lilac has no clue why he was so on edge before. Yogurca is sleepy and quiet at night, and cheerfully bustling in the day. A gentle sea breeze rolls over the boy. Why should he ever worry about harm coming to his…..

‘What was that noise?’

***

Yogurt Cream reorganizes the treasure decorating his bedroom, a breeze rolls in through the open window fluttering his hair about. He huffs at the messy look he sees in his reflection. He wanders about his room, searching for his brush. He sits on his bed, his back turned from the window.

“I guess, maybe just a little bit, Lilac was right with being worried about the vase falling over. Mmm Nah, just the wind. I was awake before that so it’s whatever!” The collector thinks out loud brushing his long hair.

He talks to himself about treasure hunting and eating good food. He’s at peace and is even joyful. Lilac got something wrong, he doesn’t sleep through the night. The treasure collector naps all day, leaving plenty of time at night to get treasures while the rest sleep.

Peaceful breezes can bring you many things,

A cool wind to cool you down,

A warm gust that makes you smile on a cold day,

A stranger on your windowsill while your back is turned and brushing your long purple hair…

A scream shakes the castle and nearly gives Lilac outside a heart attack. The bodyguard runs back into the house, his heartbeat pulsing through every vein in his body. His footsteps slam against the flooring, waking the house residents. Lilac burst through the ornate doors, he shoves open the doors, small jewels clatter off and onto the ground.

A peaceful breeze rolls through the room, a beautiful fabric drifts on top of the limb body of Yogurt Cream. A dark puddle pools out from the fabric. Lilac falls to his knees, staring horrified at the limp mass in front of him. Other guards filed in, starting up an alarm. The sleepy house is awake and a ruckus, guards, and workers run about. They all have one thing in mind.

“Who killed Mister Yogurt Cream?”

Lilac is the only one who remains still, but his world is spinning. He failed. He failed the collector. He was selfish and left him alone. How could he let the peaceful breeze lure him into false security? How could anyone do this to the collector? Lilac crawls to the limp body, a shaking hand lifts the fabric. Yogurt Cream’s arms are clutched close to his chest, his hair sticking into bloody wounds on his back and neck. His eyes wide and tear-soaked, Lilac can’t stare into them anymore. He gently closes the eyes of the other. Tears blur his vision, the fabric drifts back over the corpse.

A peaceful breeze blows about the room.
