Summary
All good things must come to an end. Ghost knows this better than anyone, having seen the folly of preservation and the deaths of so many good bugs, they understand that phrase all too well. But when Hornet’s joints start to ache and Hallow’s health begins to slowly decline, they find themself struggling to accept what they know to be the penultimate fact of life.
Now with the mass grave of their birth two corpses taller, the newly solitary Ghost finds themself struck again with the wanderlust they had traded away for family so long ago.

This was originally going to be a short silly peice about the taste of voidworms but it very quickly spiraled into Gourmands Life Story ft. Lots of Worldbuilding. First chaper has all the warnings and gets kinda sad to excuse the second chapter which has none of that.TLDR: If the stuff tagged could bother you, skip to chapter 2 to just see silly.

chili pepper raises an eyebrow at licorice and he does the same right back, mouth tugging up in pride at the amusement it gets out of her.
“could we please join your kingdom? or- at the very least, seek shelter for some time.”
“please?” pumpkin pie echoes, kicking her feet as pompon kneels. “we would love to stay!”
pawn white peers out, pawn black following the motion not even a second later. “we are curious as to if any worthy challengers are here,” the latter murmurs, head tilting curiously.
“a kingdom has to be good at chess!” pawn white agrees, brightening at the spark of intrigue that flashes in wizard’s eyes. “but we’ll only stay if dark choco does.”(dark choco adopts a few kids. licorice comes along for the ride. defecting from the cookies of darkness is easier when you've got people to protect for it.)

Summary
Marinette has a lot of weight on her shoulders in the wake of the Miracle Queen battle, having to carry the burden on her own, struggling as she always does except now she has no one to talk to who knows exactly the extent of her responsibilities. And even though she has memorized Master Fu's final letter, she just can't follow in his words, of the "ability to accept change in ourselves."
Steven, fresh off the plane to France, in his time on his road trip across the States has gained a newfound wanderlust for visiting new places and actually getting a chance to experience living like a normal human and so sets his sights abroad. Thankfully, he knows a thing or two about change, and about how hard it is to accept it.
