Work Text:
levi ackerman loves in silence.
he loves in quiet looks, and silent tenderness. he loves in kissing your forehead whilst you’re still asleep –– hair a mess and lips parted –– before leaving for classes.
he loves in handing you the bigger half of food when split in two.
he loves in pulling you closer when you’re strolling the sidewalk together, so you’re farther from the road.
he loves in remembering the things you enjoy, your favorite chiffon cake sitting on the counter for you for when you’ve had a particularly unpleasant day.
he loves in eye liner and fake lashes, a headband securing his hair back, hands splayed on your thighs as you’re seated on the restroom counter and eager to practice new makeup techniques on him.
he loves in placing a hand on the small of your back, to “get from one side of the kitchen to the other”, he says, despite having more than enough space to do so.
he loves in including himself in whatever it may be you love doing, whether he truly does enjoy it or not.
he loves in repeating your order to the waiter for you, after he’s taken note of your reluctance to speak up once more.
he loves in a soft smile, as he’s sat across you and his mother, watching quietly as his two most important people gush to each other about the newest spring fashion launch.
he loves in deep-clean sundays, because he knows you take pride in your sweeping of the floors, and he secretly does cherish the mini dance breaks you pursue in the living room.
he loves in fervent nights between sheets, drunk on the pleads and cries that pushed past your swollen lips.
levi ackerman loves in silence, but when it hits the dead of night, and the stars paint your face, you’re left curled into his side and panting. your eyes gleam up at him with so much adoration, and he’s sure his heart stops.
it’s then, when levi ackerman parts his lips, to seal a promise into the cold midnight air between the two of you ––
“i love you.”
