hajime thinks he might be going soft.
looking up at komaeda and nanami from his spot on the ground, watching them laugh at how he fell from one of the lower branches, he feels his heart skip a beat.
it’s not from the tumble. no, he’d climbed enough things a a child to have gotten over that fear. but he looks up at them, takes in how komaeda wheezes and curls into himself, barely breathing as he attempts to get out a sentence. takes in how nanami giggles into her sleeves, normally-sleepy eyes shining as she peeks down at him with the hood of her cat hoodie pulled up over her head and the ears flopping down.
they’re laughing at him, sure, but he doesn’t feel all that mad. actually, he finds himself grinning alongside them, his cheeks hurting maybe a little bit with how wide his smile is stretching.
yeah, he thinks, feeling a warm and fuzzy feeling spread from his chest up to his face. he’s definitely going soft, but if it’s for these two dorks, he might not mind it all that much.
