Summary
Joseph Joestar was 12 years old when he first heard about the fabled Ruby of Aja.
According to local legend, it had been buried generations ago by a wealthy family similar to that of the Joestars. Many people were skeptical of its existence. Others were determined to find it. Young Joseph fervently joined the latter.
He was 12 when he promised himself that he would find the coveted gem.
He was 18 when he knew he had finally found it.
