Sundrop

Summary:

There is a big, white, hot star in front of you, but once you float around in a circle, you see the same bright, white, hot star. It’s surrounding you, and then you come to a final realization: you are that star, burning and glowing from the inside out.

At least until one day, when a small drop of sun falls off, and as it turns out you are that drop.

Work Text:

You realize that there is a big, white, hot star in front of you, but once you float around in a circle, you see the same bright, white, hot star. It’s surrounding you, and then you come to a final realization: you are that star, burning and glowing from the inside out.

At least until one day, when a small drop of sun falls off, and as it turns out you are that drop, and you're falling, and falling, and falling so fast that somehow your floating, but then again floating makes sense since this is space. So now you’re just a small little glowing dot, floating along the universe with millions of other tiny glowing dots that have lost their way, in little rows that form an almost halo in the night.

All that is lost will be found.

But sometimes, you don’t want to be found, or you want to be lost for a bit, enjoy the detour. So you go off to explore the ever expanding but also somehow shrinking expanse called the universe. Brimming with life that seems so different from the simple life of a simple sundrop.

A small shining light wondering what exactly is home, wondering about the millions of little shimmering dots that spot some planets' surfaces- all light years away from each other-, wondering if they will ever find their place in the growing and shrinking universe.

Wondering when their light will get snuffed out by an almost unassuming star that is finally at its last breath, tearing a darker than pitch black hole into the universe, snuffing out the light, warmth, and anything that would signify life. All that’s left is you floating, cold in a never ending dark abyss with no way to get out, and no way to move. You’re gone.

But that hasn’t happened just yet, and hopefully it never does, because being stripped of your identity, of all you’ve ever known and believed, what makes you you and happy, it’s a terrible thing to lose. It’s a terrible thing to lose who you were, who you used to be, even when you're the one changing it, because losing a part of yourself is always hard, and you grieve for the part of you that “died”.

So, for now, we are just on a journey. A tiny drop of sunshine, trying to find its way in this vast universe. Trying to understand its purpose among all the stars, galaxies, planets, supernovas, and black holes. And maybe, one day, they will find the rumored “ancient galaxy oasis”: the star making system.

Notes:

Funny thing is that when I first finished it, it had 432 words and then when I edited it, I made sure it was the same amount of words.

This was brought up by the thought of me wanting to call people sundrops instead of “you're a literal ray of sun and such a bright beautiful sunflower bean” I just wanna call someone a (or my) sundrop. I wanna make a song about it too, but I want it to be special, so I might wait.

It really drifted from that original thought/idea and turned into finding my place in the universe cause I feel like a tiny drop of sun, which I can draw comparisons to feeling like the grains of sand on the beach. There are so many stars and grains of sand, so what are the chances of me being noticed?
