Chapter Text
It was another peaceful weekend in Meridell; the almost fully clear sky showed off its great cerulean hue, and a delicate autumn breeze blew the several leaves that rested over the soil. The sun-kissed, imposing castle had its silhouette in striking contrast to the previously lush green fields around the place; now part of these slowly switching to shades of yellow and orange in accordance to the upcoming season.
Light passed through a Brightvale-bought glass window, by a gap between opulent burgundy curtains hanging from above. The gentle morning glow scattered over a simple, yet classy and cozy bedroom. In it, two figures rested over a big bed with sheets in shades of golden and light blue; a thin young adult Zafara with grayish blue fur, together with a fellow young adult, ultramarine-haired Lupe; his head placed over the lady’s chest while he slept. Selene the secret agent and Jeran the knight were dating since months ago, but due to their busy lives and those awkward social customs common in the kingdom they weren’t able to spend much time together, and when they were able to they always had to share it in secret, avoiding other people’s presence as much as possible. Both of them did feel impatient about sharing their affair with the world so they could stop hiding it, but at the same time they didn’t feel ready to confront the imminent -and probably harsh- public opinion, especially taking certain rabid fans of the Meridell champion into account.
Being used to protect and take care of others, Jeran was fond of taking a break from his authority and let his partner take the lead in their intimate moments. Holding to the spy’s lean and warm body in a close embrace, the young man slowly opened his bright, sleepy eyes. Humming a bit at first, then letting out a yawn, the Lupe noticed his beloved was already awake as one of her hands gently brushed the blue messy locks on his forehead.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” said Selene, with that usual playful tone of hers.
After yawning once again, Jeran’s face got closer to the Zafara’s, giving her a swift kiss on the right cheek.
“Good morning, my dear.” The young man slowly snuggled his head over Selene’s shoulder and let out a content sigh, somewhat struggling to leave the somnolence behind. They kept the hug together for a couple minutes, but after those ended the spy carefully tried to separate herself from the knight and get out of his bed.
“I apologize for the hurry but it’s 10 o’clock already, I should be go---.” The lady saw her attempt interrupted by the unexpected grasp of her lover’s left hand holding her right arm.
The blue Lupe grumbled under his breath, still fighting against his own sleepiness. “Hmh, please don’t go…”
“Jeran, not this again…”, the agent frowned, “...you know I have to sneak out and leave your room before you do.”
“Selene, darling...it’s Sunday. We don’t have to go downstairs yet,” Jeran said; his ears pointing down together with a pleading look on his face and a soft, longing hue present in his voice. “Could you stay with me a few more minutes at least, please? Just for today?”
The champion was right about the date, and the spy replied back to her beloved with an ambivalent semblance. “Dear, you know others can’t see me there, otherwise we could get in trouble.”
“Yes, I know that, it’s just...it feels so wrong to me to spend so little time the two of us alone, you know?” the Lupe confessed. “And, well...I miss you so much when I don’t have you there by my side...” Jeran couldn’t help but blush and wag his tail as those heartfelt words came out from his mouth; this together with his puppy-like expression made it quite hard, if not impossible for the Zafara to leave him alone so soon. Letting out a deep sigh, one of the young woman’s hands lovingly cupped the knight’s cheek, as her gaze met her dearest’s.
“Well...you’ve won this time.” Selene surrendered, kissing the young man on the lips as her hands lightly grabbed his waist. Jeran happily indulged in the kiss in response...just to notice his daring lover was hovering on top of him seconds later securing his wrists on a firm grip, and the knight gasped as he was caught off-guard.
“So...shall we get the most out of the little time we got left, then?,” the agent raised her eyebrows and smirked; her gaze directed towards her partner as mischievous thoughts were already racing inside her head.
“I-I’d really love that, my love,” the blushing man whispered along with a bashful, yet eager smile.
