"Five tails or Sasuke?" Tobi asks.
"Let's see which one of the two appears first," Deidara says, the little bell on his hat tinkles in the breeze.
A sense of foreboding chills Obito's bones. They're going to find Sasuke first, he knows for a fact that he's nearby. He tells himself that the encounter is useful for him. He'll finally be able to test Sasuke's strength and find out if he's ready to kill Itachi and take his eyes.
Obito can't stop thinking that something will go terribly wrong. Time is ticking and the day is approaching when he'll have to make a decision: to forget about the plan or to forget about Deidara. Obito doesn't want to choose now. He probably doesn't want to choose ever.
He stares at Deidara's leather bags and kamuis away all the clay.
"Why don't we do something fun instead?" He asks in Tobi's voice.
"This will be fun, hm," Deidara replies.
"So violent," Tobi mutters. He knows Deidara won't change his mind easy, but he needs to do it. "We can blow up a mountain."
"That doesn't sound bad." Deidara rubs his chin. "We'll go tomorrow."
Obito purses his lips.
"But we've been working so hard lately! We deserve a break!"
Deidara looks back and smirks.
"Are your afraid of Sasuke?"
"Y-yes I am!" Tobi exclaims. "And you should be, too. He's going to beat you."
"What!?" Deidara stops walking and glares at him.
Tobi flinches.
"Well, he's very strong."
"I'm very strong too," Deidara retorts, patting his own chest. "So touching to see how much you believe in me."
Obito knows he shouldn't tell him but something could happen to Deidara if he doesn't. Something could happen to Deidara and it's going to be his fault.
"He can use lightning release!"
Deidara's annoyed expression turns curious.
"Really? That's even better, hm."
Deidara carries on walking. Obito's heart clenches. This could be sign not to stray from his original path. His plan needs Sasuke but his heart...
Obito closes his eye.
"Senpai."
His heart needs Deidara.
"What?"
"Don't go."
"And missing the chance to wipe that clan out."
Obito swallows thickly.
"You waste your time. There's one more Uchiha no one knows about."
He blushes and stares at the floor.
"Oh, really? Itachi didn't do a very good job then, did he?"
"His name is Uchiha Obito."
"Never heard of him," Deidara says. "Tobi, are you making all this up?"
"His name is Uchiha Obito and he's in love with you." Obito says, taking his mask off.
"Enough nonsense, Tobi. Now get on the-." Deidara shoves is hand inside his clay pouch. "Hey! Where is my-?"
Deidara twists his neck. His wide open eyes fixed on him. Obito wraps his arms tight around his body.
"I am Uchiha Obito," he says, and kisses him. Deidara's eyes are even wider now. He opens his mouth but no sound comes out of it.
"I don't think I've been speechless ever before, hm."
Obito gives him a sheepish smile.
"You can murder me now, senpai."
Deidara clings to his neck and kisses him back. A single tear rolls down Obito's cheek. Both forget about Sasuke.
