Work Text:

There was a traitor among them, whispers of who it could be. Izuku was worried, what if it was someone from class 1-A? He didn’t think he’d be able to handle it, knowing one of his friends might be the ones giving information away.

Fingers were being pointed and names were being thrown around, U.A was in chaos. There was no one to trust and to make matters worse, his notebook was missing. Anxiety clawed at his chest and he couldn’t help the dread that flooded his senses, not able to ignore the feeling of being spoken about.

Izuku made his way to the homeroom, nerves on fire with the way everyone seemed to be staring at him. Eyes followed him where he went, he felt like throwing up. He thought he’d feel better once he entered class but the tension was even worse.

Aizawa-sensei was glaring at him and his friends were avoiding eye contact, well Kaachan wasn’t. Izuku swallowed as he fidgeted in place, something was wrong and he knew it had something to do with his missing notebook. Kami, when did the day go wrong?

“Midoriya, please step out. Officer Sansa will be escorting you to the police department.” Izuku bit his lip, nodding. His friends were still not looking at him and Kaachan looked beyond angry, but what was new? “Now.”

He trembled as he walked out the door, an officer with a cat head was waiting for him. Izuku winced when the officer gripped his arm and tugged him none too gently, though he didn’t say anything as he didn’t want to be yelled at by the clearly agitated officer. “Hurry up.” The older man snapped as he led Izuku out the building, students from all grades were staring and whispering.

Izuku was shoved into an interrogation room and handcuffed with a quirk suppressing bands and strapped to the metal table, a bright light was flashed in his face. He squinted as he stared at a different man, perhaps a detective. His face ached as though he was hit but he couldn’t remember if he was smacked.

“I asked you damn a question! What were doing with these notebooks? Were you planning on selling them?”

Tears clouded his vision as the man gripped his cheeks with his rough hands, he whimpered and shook his head. “N-no, i write notes to study for when I-I become a h-hero.”

“Do you think I’m an idiot, huh? I want you to be very honest, why were you really writing these?” He snarled, Izuku could only sob harder as the detective shook him harshly. “Answer me!”

“I’m telling the truth!” he cried out, immediately flinching and whimpering when a large hand slapped him across the face. Izuku looked at the glass mirror where he was sure Aizawa-sensei was watching, why wasn’t he stopping this?

Izuku flinched when he was shoved backwards and the man stood up, straightening his coat with a sigh. “You’ll remain here until you decide to tell the truth.” He walked out.

Wasn’t there a detective with a lie-detector quirk? Why wasn’t he conducting the investigation? Izuku curled in on himself and laid his head on the cold table, tears pouring down silently. Why was Aizawa-sensei allowing this to happen? Did Izuku do something wrong?

Of course he did, he’s a Deku after all.

Katsuki could only glare viciously at his classmates, seething with rage. These idiots really think Deku is the traitor, the person who fought along and for them? The only person whoever only saw the good in them?

“It’s a good thing they caught the traitor, huh?” Hagakure, greenscreen bitch, said humming. Katsuke watched in disgust as nearly everyone agreed, only icyhot and mindfucker seemed to stand apart from the others.

“You fuckers are all dumbasses,” Katsuki scoffed, shaking off shitty hairs hand from his shoulder. “Don’t fucking touch me.”

Round face had the nerve to look confused as did the nerds so-called friends. “What do you mean, Bakugou?”

He rolled his eyes. “Deku isn’t the damn traitor.”

“Aizawa-sensei said–”

“Hobo bastard is a damn moron and so are all of you.”

Round face puffed up her cheeks. “You’re wrong! We’ve all seen his notebooks, you’ve got to admit they're creepy.”

“The nerds been doing it since we were fucking kids! Sure it’s creepy but it’s who he is.” Katsuki snapped, standing up. “When he’s declared innocent you’re all going to eat your fucking words.”

He scoffed when no one said anything, they didn’t believe him. But they’ll see, when Deku comes back they’ll be begging for forgiveness.

Two hours, they beat him and yelled at him for two hours. During that whole time Izuku felt completely numb. He knew Aizawa was standing out there (along with All Might who showed up only to demand his quirk back, Izuku refused as it no longer belonged to the blonde skeletal man) and yet the man stood back and did nothing. The only other adult besides his mother(and All Might, another mistake,) that he trusted did nothing, guess all teachers were the same.

He looked up when the door opened once again, this time a plain man in a tan coat stepped in. Izuku felt the tiniest bit of life seep back into him when he recognized the detective, it was the lie-detector man. He could feel himself calm down, only slightly, knowing he’d be leaving soon. Once this was over, Izuku was dropping out of U.A. Everyone could kiss his ass for being able to turn on him so easily despite how much he sacrificed for them.

“Midoriya, I’m detective Tsukauchi. I’m sorry you had to go through this when I should have been called much earlier.” The man apologized as he took a seat in front of Izuku. “I’m legally required to tell you my quirk is Lie-detector and I’ll be asking you a few questions. Keep in mind that I’ll know if you lie so please be as truthful as possible. Do you understand?”

Izuku nodded. “I need you to always be verbal, now, do you understand?”

“Yes.” He just wanted this to be over with already.

“First, why do you have these notebooks filled with detailed descriptions of every hero and student?”

Izuku bit his lip. “I take notes to help me better myself as a hero.”

“True. When did you start?”

“Around four, I always dreamt of saving people and I always found quirks fascinating.”

“True. Have you ever given any of your notes to villains that would use them against your classmates or other heroes?”

“No, class 1-A was my family and the notes on them were meant to be used only for them. It was to help them better themselves since I knew they’d be great.” Until they went and stabbed me in the back, he thought.

“True. Last question, are you the U.A traitor?”

“No.”

“True.” Anger flashed in the detective’s eyes, an innocent boy was subjected to what could be considered torture because adults couldn’t handle things logically. Tsukauchi stood up and smiled grimly at the green haired child-Kami, he was a child.- “”You’re free to leave, Midoriya.” He unlocked the cuffs and stepped aside.

Izuku rubbed his sore and red wrists. “Your officers will be hearing from my lawyers and so will U.A. They had me here without calling my mother despite me being a minor and few of your comrades got a little physical. I’ll see them destroyed in court. Have a good day.” He walked out, completely ignoring the dark haired man and the tall skinny man who both stared at him with despair. Good, let them all regret what they did.

Izuku called his mom while he walked back to U.A, he had to pack his stuff and he wanted to watch his old friends get on their knees and beg him to forgive them. He made sure to tell his mom to call her lawyer friends to start a case, he wanted them to eat their mistakes and to forever regret what they did.

Katsuki glanced at his phone when it vibrated with an incoming message. It was the class group chat, from Aizawa-sensei.

Aizawa: Midoriya has been cleared. He is not the traitor.

He smirked, he told those fuckers but no one listened. Now, they’ll see exactly who they messed with. Deku might seem timid and docile but there was an angry volcano deep within him waiting to erupt.

Katsuki could hear the loud shouts in the common room, he knew they were panicking. They’ll all get what they deserve.

****

Izuku stared up at U.A, the school he always dreamt of coming to. Number one hero school in Japan...was nothing more than a joke. He shook his head and continued forward, going to the 1-A dorms.

As he neared the door, Izuku could hear the shouts of his ex-classmates. He heard his name a couple of times but he ignored it and pushed the door open. Everything went quiet as they all stared at him.

Uraraka broke down in tears and she raced towards him with open arms. “I’m so sorry Deku!” She cried, he easily side-stepped him and watched passively as she hit the wall behind him.

“Do not call me Deku and please refrain from touching me. I’m just here to grab my things and then I’ll be leaving.”

Iida looked at him after he helped steady Uraraka who was rubbing her red nose. “Where are you going, Midoriya?”

“Leaving.” Izuku said curtly, he walked past everyone else and bounded up the stairs. He wasn’t in the mood to converse with two-faced classmates.

It was painful having to walk away from the person who was his first friend but it was more painful knowing that friendship was such a fickle thing. So easily broken and trust was so fragile that it could shatter much like glass. It was better to walk away then to hope it gets repaired only to wind up hurt again.

They’ll realize that sometimes, not every adult is right and that fear could cloud everyone’s judgement. But they’ll have to realize that on their own, he was done helping.
