Warmth

Summary:

While on a date at a forest trail, Sig and Schezo are separated. Not for long, but just long enough for Schezo to get himself in trouble.

Work Text:

“Schezo? Where’d you go?”

Sig had only taken a few seconds to examine some bugs on a plant, and when he turned around, Schezo was gone. He scanned the forest as he walked down the trail. Schezo couldn’t have gone far. But if he had gone off the trail for whatever reason, there’s no telling where he could be.

There weren’t even any disturbances in the environment. No leaves stepped on, nor bushes pushed aside. There weren’t even any footprints, which was likely the weather’s fault. Though, if there were any clues, the shade provided from the trees made them hard to spot. Which made it hard to spot him.

Schezo was probably fine, if Sig was to believe his boasts about his magic power and swordplay. Still, turning around to find your boyfriend disappeared wasn’t a great feeling for anyone, regardless of who he was.

Some unidentified sounds came from deeper into the forest. Sig stopped and turned his head. Focusing on the sounds, there was an impact and a ripping. Soon after, a rustling came from the bushes in the same direction. Sig took one step towards there-

The bushes were shoved aside, and a shirtless Schezo came darting from them. He ran back onto the path, before leaning over and catching his breath, giving a small wave.

“Hey, Schezo. Glad to see you’re fine,” Sig said. “Where’d your shirt go?”

“A... beast of the forest challenged me to Puyo Puyo! I thought it’d be an easy win, but no. They pounded me into submission and tore me apart!”

“Uh... phrasing.”

Schezo stood up straight, stretching his arms, “They unleashed some kind of hurricane on me. The storm ripped my shirt apart. Not to worry. I have spares.”

“At least they let you keep your pants.”

“If I hadn’t bolted as soon as I lost, I may not have been so lucky.”

Sig sighed, relieved that Schezo was alright. Schezo had a habit of getting in trouble, but at least this time, it seemed overall minor. Rather interesting that they would allow Puyo-battling beasts in a public forest, though. That can cast storm magic with the power to tear clothes apart? Sounded like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Sig shrugged.

Sig held Schezo’s hand.

“Hey, don’t vanish so suddenly like that again, okay? You worried me,” Sig said.

Schezo blushed, “Uh, of course. Sorry about that.”

Sig was a quiet one, and didn’t have the habit of announcing his emotions much, good or bad. So when he did so, even in a minor way, it was something to note. Something that would behoove Schezo to pay attention to.

“Anyway, let’s go,” Sig softly smiled. “The end of the path shouldn’t be too far from here.”

“Er... right,” Schezo said. He struggled to keep his hand steady.

“What’s up?”

“Well... it’s actually rather cold here, isn’t it? I mean, I’m cold.”

“Oh, yeah... I guess not having a shirt will do that to you.”

Sig let go of his hand. Schezo wrapped his arms around his chest, trying to warm himself up and failing. He sniffed and shivered.

“Hm... I have an idea,” Sig said.

“You do?!” Schezo said, “Great! What is-“

And then Schezo’s face turned fully red. Sig unzipped his jacket and took it off, “Here.”

“H-here? You want me to wear your jacket?”

“It may feel weird without a shirt, but it’s pretty warm.”

“What about you?”

“I’m fine with my shirt.”

Sig had worn his favorite shirt, a blue shirt with white sleeves and a bug icon in the middle.

“Hey,” Sig said. “While I wouldn’t mind staying in the forest for hours, we still gotta get moving. And I don’t want you to feel bad. Just take it.”

Schezo blushed as he took the jacket, “F-Fine, then...”

Schezo put the jacket on. He zipped it up, though he needed Sig’s help, since he was unfamiliar with zippers. The warmth of the jacket, as well as Sig’s leftover body heat, quickly warmed up Schezo. He ran his hand through his hair as he blushed. It looked like he was about to sweat, despite having been cold just a moment ago.

“You look good,” Sig smiled.

“D-do I? Thanks...” Schezo said, “It’s... not an unpleasant feeling, I will admit.”

“I’ve got more at home that you can try. I don’t mind.”

Schezo scratched his cheek, “T-thank you.”

Sig walked back next to Schezo and held his hand. Sig kissed him on the cheek. Schezo smiled and smooched him back; on the forehead. All under the shade of the tall trees. Basking in the warmth they’ve shown each other, the boys walked down the path, continuing their forest date.
