Chapter Text

Blinding rays of sunshine peeked through the blinds of Mirio's window. The blonde boy removed one of his arms from around his best friend, and rubbed his eyes in fatigue. He heard a groan of displeasure come from next to him at the loss of touch.

"Morning Tamaki!" Mirio poked his back before sitting up in his bed. "Are you awake?"

"Hmph." Tamaki responded. "Can you close the blinds?" He whispered, still half asleep.

"No, you've gotta wake up! Don't you wanna get some breakfast before we go to class?"

Tamaki turned his face towards Mirio and slowly opened his eyes. Beside him was his best friend who, despite just waking up, looked like he had been awake for hours and had drank at least three cups of coffee.

"I don't understand you morning people."

Mirio grinned. "Kind of ironic how much you hate waking up with a hero name like Suneater."

Tamaki smiled and rolled his eyes. "Funny." He sat up against the bed's headrest and sighed. Satisfied enough with his progress, Tamaki dropped his head onto Mirio's broad shoulder and closed his eyes again with another deep sigh. Mirio giggled.

"Maybe just a few more minutes then. But you of all people should know that breakfast is super important! How late did you go to bed after I passed out?"

"Pretty late." Tamaki said sharply, wanting to enjoy his last few minutes of rest.

"What were you up to?"

"Phone."

"Oh, got it. What was on your phone?"

"Irrelevant."

"Hentai?"

"Irrelevant."

Mirio laughed again to himself and closed his eyes, feeling the weight of Tamaki's head against him. After about 3 minutes of shared silence, he spoke again. "Okay. Gotta get up now, or I'm locking my door tonight so you can't sleep over."

Tamaki's eyes shot open. He stood up on Mirio's bed and stepped over the smiling teen, then hopped onto the floor. "Meanie."

"You'll thank me later!"

Tamaki stared towards his best friend and gave him a sarcastic smile. Mirio giggled again, and his smile turned genuine.

"Alright, I'm gonna take a shower. Just text me when you're done getting ready and I'll come back so we can go to the cafeteria together," he says, turning away from his friend and walking towards the door.

"Kay, love ya!" Mirio says before standing up to lock the door behind Tamaki.

Tamaki almost tripped over his feet. He felt a deep blush come to his face, and he became grateful that he was already walking away from the high spirited boy. "See ya in a bit," he responded.

Tamaki arrived at his dorm room just a few seconds later, as his room was only three doors away from Mirio's. He began to scratch his head in anxiousness, and a frown appeared on his face as Mirio's words replayed in his head. Tamaki loved him back, of course. They had been best friends for years. But love, the word itself, was so strange to Tamaki, and it definitely wasn't a word to be said so casually. Especially since Tamaki was sure that Mirio's platonic love wasn't the same love Tamaki had for the other.
