It's a new warm day in Yokohama, everyone prepared to go to whether work or school
"Have a nice day Sushi !" Chuuya kissed his son's cheek and Atsushi return it "Thank you dad, will you be able to come and pick me ?"
Chuuya look at him and sigh "I'm really sorry dear, I don't think I can this time"
He's sad for that but he can't show that for his dad, after all Chuuya is trying his best to be available as long as possible
But after the company he was working in broke, he needed to find new job even it mean to work for 10 hours -and sometimes more- per day
It's tiring, Atsushi knows that well so he won't bother his father
For Dazai, it's going to be a dream to see him after the stress and long hours full of work Francis gave him
He's a hard worker and everyone knows that but Francis forgot something ...
Dazai has family
He forgot the man has a house and family to check on, family he wants to sit and talk with after dinner
Son to tell hi bed time story
Atsushi misses those old days but nothing will stay the same
But things can get better
Or that's what he hoped for
The first part of his day in school passed by peacefully, except in PE class he got nosebleed from the heat
When the break time finally came, he left the bed and went to his class to get his bento
The weather still hot but there is cold breeze that saved him especially when he went to sit in his usual spot under the biggest tree in the school's garden
whispers started
Atsushi didn't look around; to avoid any troubles
His dads always told him to avoid troubles, they even told him he might get badly injured -It can't be helped if Atsushi is very cute and very innocent to deal with bullies-
He suddenly started to feel cold glares pointed at him but he tried to ignore them
Don't look back
Whatever it happen don't look up
They might hurt you
"Hey" He couldn't stop himself from looking up -because the voices' owner is rough for a student-
His eyes met the boy's
He has black hair with white ends, his eyes are small with grey holes glaring staring at him
'The look of Dracula' is what Atsushi thinks about
How can their school welcome scary kids like him ?
The raven boy steal his attention back to him "Can I have some ?" he asked using low -scary- tune
"It- It's mine" Atsushi swallows harder with every stare
For Atsushi, the raven boy's stares are like a beast prepared to attack his victim and rip him to pieces -not an interesting experience-
"My dad made it for me" He hold into his bento tighter, afraid the raven boy might snap it from him
"And I said I want some, not all of it" He hisses making the other boy shiver and close to tears
Akutagawa looked away for a moment and grit his teeth, Atsushi caught the gesture and his brain started screaming to run away and escape
When Akutagawa turn back to look at Atsushi he found him crying, he panicked and didn't know what to do so he run away leaving the little boy alone
The rest of the day wasn't interesting at all, nothing cool to happen until-
"Dear students, I want to inform you we'll go in a trip to the beach. It will be next month so you can have the time to prepare yourselves"
"Isn't Oda-Sensei amazing ?"
"Waaah what will you bring ?"
blah blah blah ....
Atsushi walked through the crowed all the way out to the school's gates
He exhales heavily by the reminder no one will pick him ...
*CLICK*
"Sushi ?" He stand still when he heard his dad's soft voice, Chuuya's tune always give him the argue to run to his arms and cry
No wonder when Dazai return home he drops his head on his shoulder and let him pat him before he walk to their room
It is soothing
He tried to clear his throat and check if there's crack when he talk when he confirm it he answered "Yes dad ?"
Chuuya walked out of the kitchen with a knife in his hand
His expression is the one Atsushi fears the most because it means
'Sushi what happened ?"
He's blaming his father's sixth sense -The parent's sense of danger-
"Is everything alright dear ?" he asked slowly with low tune
Chuuya loves Atsushi more than Dazai, his son always come first for him
His senses never mistake, he knows when there is something wrong but since Atsushi seems to keep his mouth sealed by looking away he'll let it pass this time only
Because if something happen later he won't let him be until he know what happen
"Yes, everything is ok (?) We'll have a trip to the beach after a month and I'm a bit nervous" He scratches his neck trying to to show anything but not what he's afraid of
Chuuya isn't convinced at all because it's all obvious in his face -but as before he'll let it pass for this time- "Do you need help wit packing ?"
He look up at him with wide eyes "Yes please"
For a moment he let himself forget what bothered him to enjoy the time with his dad "Then we can start preparing after dinner, if you're ok with that ?"
"Yes, yes !! I'm more than ok with that" He run to Chuuya to hide between his arms
His dad might be shorter than him in few centimeter but when it comes to hiding between his arms he is small compared to him
the love and warmth he spread around his son is enough to make him relax and be the lively Sushi he knows "Thanks dad"
This is what he wants to hear before he let go of him to go study
*CLICK*
Chuuya walk out of the kitchen with an orange rose in his head "You know you didn't have to get me a flower"
Dazai took off his shoes and walked to his husband "It's not my fault angel" he kissed his forehead and absorbed his shivers from the sudden cold
"Samu ?"
"Hmm~"
"You smell horrible" he received a chuckle from Dazai.
All those who know them, they support one point 'No matter how old Dazai and Chuuya will age they'll keep acting as children from time to time. Just to piss each other'
It's true, both of them love that
The reason is kind of weird and funny for some people but for Chuuya and Dazai ? It brings back childhood memories
The time when they were adorable and troublemaker kids ...
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I couldn't leave my seat"
"Ah that explains why you're numb" He lay his cheek on his hand looking at Dazai with risen eyebrow
"aww baby~ ? Don't tell me you think I was messing around ?"
Chuuya knows Dazai pretty well and he knows his beloved husband won't dare to do anything can cause him being hated by his husband
God forbid him if that happen ...
"Osamu ?" His voice is weak and that got into Dazai's nerve but that gave him the green light to go and prepare himself for some annoying news
"Where is Sushi ?" He just finished showering and the fresh warm water drops around the floor
Chuuya is trying his best to ignore every mistake his husband do but that's not what he need to focus on right now
"He has an exam tomorrow so he won't join us today" He look at him with sad eyes
"Is he ok ?" he looks more concerned than before
"Don't worry love, he's ok but ..."
"But ?"
"I guess something happened in school and he won't tell us unless we ask but I don't want to pressure him to say anything can make him-"
Dazai left his seat and went to hug his nervous husband, he rubbed his shoulders "aww angel~ This is your problem, you care a lot to point you forget how to relax"
He tried to throw a fist into his husband's face but he caught it and gave it a warm, soft kiss
he watched him blush "Don't worry yourself a lot dear, Oda called me and told me there'll be family meeting next week" He took him by the hand to the sofa in the living room and land him on his lap
"If anything happen you can ask them" This can work, teachers -as they assume- know what happen with their students
But if this is how it work, why didn't they call if anything happened to Atsushi ? Why Oda didn't call ? Does this mean he's fine and all worries and stress he had were because he was excited for the trip ?
Next week, they'll know everything
And by everything, we mean everything ...
The one week passed fast without sensing the moments and how did they happen and pass, and here is Atsushi sitting in the back seat while he's parents talk about some stuff they need to work on -some sort of a trip to French to visit his dads parents (?)-
Everything went smoothly, Chuuya talked to the teachers while Dazai -as always- disappeared somewhere where he can escape from the place he got horrible memories from and Atsushi ?
He kept looking around nervously like a kitty afraid to be attacked, until-
"Ma'am, your son caused a lot of troubles for many students and I'm afraid we might not allow him to join the trip. Just for his safety"
He's here
Akutagawa was standing by his parents side. He has his arms crossed and his face shows disgust from what the teacher's telling them
He wants to go to the beach too
It's the beach who doesn't love to go there ?
Atsushi tried to hide behind Chuuya, who noticed the shivers in his kids' hands while gripping his shirt tighter
"Is everything ok ?" He asked softly to make him relax
Akutagawa turned rolled his eyes from 'the bullshit' -as his brain say- he's telling his parents and turned his head to find Atsushi stick to his dad's side
He tried to hide himself but Chuuya caught him in moment of fear
He pouted looking at Akutagawa and back to Atsushi "Did something happen between you and that kid ?"
Atsushi shook is head
He can't let his father involved in some silly stuff like his so he tried to escape from the question
"Dazai Sushi ?" he called him but not in a firm or commanding way -No he'll never dare to use this with him, if it's Dazai then yes why not ? He deserves it-
He called him to remind him he won't let him be until he answer
Atsushi knows that well so he answers with his head down
"He tried to take my food once"
Chuuya's eyes opened widely, shocked from his kid "And what did you do ?"
He pulled the longest hair strands and play with them "I did nothing, I just-"
He doesn't know how to tell him without finding him in the other side of the room tangling the other boy's dad but Chuuya is waiting
He can't keep his mouth shut especially they are in the middle of the room and the aura around his dad is getting heavier the late his reply is "When I cried he ran away"
"How dare he-" Is the last thing he heard before he find Chuuya in the other side of the room -as he expected- poking the raven boy's dad "excuse me, your son made my son cry"
Gin and Tachihara turned to look at him
They tried to understand what he just said, when they said nothing Chuuya repeated "YOUR SON SCARED MY SON AND MADE HIM CRY"
Gin look at him up and down, studying the man in front of them with disgust face "Excuse me but when ?"
Chuuya's temper started to play the countdown "Atsushi ?! When did that happen ?"
The little boy approached them slowly, he took a peek at the room where everyone suddenly remain silence after Chuuya scream
They know his anger is one of the uncontrollable things, all teachers and other parents -who's kids missed up with Atsushi- know that very well
"Last week" he mumbled. Afraid the raven boy will do something but he's just standing behind his mom not moving an inch
"And what did he tell you ?" Atsushi looked at Akutagawa with glowing eyes full of pain and apology
"He wanted my food ... He said it using scary tune and scary expression"
Chuuya looked back at the parents and expected an apology for their son's behavior
Isn't this what they usually do ?
Your son hurt mine so you or he should apologize
"Well it's your sons' fault to not share"
"Excuse me WHAT ?!" Chuuya grew five more heads from the reply
No one dare to tell him this, every time something happen they're the one who apologize not Chuuya or Atsushi
-Let's not count Dazai since he doesn't even be around when those stuff happen-
"Your son scared the shit out of my son !! How could it be his fault if your son doesn't know how to say please without scaring him ?!"
"Well, why is your son like a little girl who's afraid from grown up kid ?"
"If he's grown up as you assume, he could use better voice tune while talking !"
Atsushi already said goodbye for the trip before they get to the school, maybe because he expected his dad to fight with another parents ?
Maybe
But it's because he had a feeling Akutagawa will be joining the trip so he was afraid he might get bullied again
"Hey baby what are you-"
"Stay out of this for a moment Osamu"
"Ok baby"
Did Dazai pick the wrong time ? He did
Was being him around in those moments helpful ? Definitely not especially when Chuuya is close to explode from anger
"Hey Sushi, what's the problem ?"
"Dad is mad because Akutagawa scared me and made me cried. Can you do something ?"
As we said before, Dazai is no help in those scenarios so all he did is picking a spot away from them and enjoyed the food he bought from the cafeteria -Technically he flirted with the woman working there and got free food-
"Sorry young man but when Chibikko is mad I avoid him until he calm a little"
It's true Chuuya can lose control and become ... Violent ... But -We repeat that for the million time- everyone know those facts
That's why everyone avoid them, sine there is a rule going around
Never mess up with the Dazai's
Dazai walked away to talk to Atsushi's teachers while Chuuya strung Tachihara in the air with one strong grip-
A shadow approached Atsushi making his hair stand "I'm sorry"
Silence attacked the noise and kept everyone shut for a moment to understand what they've heard
"I'm sorry to scare you. That day ... I didn't have anything to eat because I forgot my bento in home and I thought-" he looked down blushing from the other boy's stares -No he'll never give a damn about the other's stares, it's Atsushi, who's an angel in Aku's opinion-
"-Because you're always nice to everyone and ... And cute ... I thought you'd share me some" He scratched the back of his neck from embarrassment
What he just said is more like a confession than an apology which is embarrassing
Atsushi, on the other hand, is standing awkwardly in front of the raven boy
Does he feel bad ? Oh yes he does
Does he want to smack his head in the wall and scream how horrible he is ? Definitely he wants but he'll leave that for another time when he's alone
He feels VERY bad "I'm sorry too" to point he wants forgiveness for a crime he caused
But Akutagawa isn't bad as he thought
He didn't ask him for more but simply forgiven him "It's not a big deal, just ... Misunderstanding ... Wanna grab something to eat ?"
"Yeah sure !" Atsushi eyes sparkled excitedly
The little boy feels comfortable to the other person when they offer him food, complement, apology or anything shows kindness
That's exactly what Akutagawa did !
He wants his trust. He wants his love. He wants him
Their walk to the shops wasn't that long since they spent the whole trip talking and talking and talking about almost everything
Most of them were about their parent's over protectivity (Their parents, who they left them alone, ended up following them)
which all thanks to it, here they are now in front of waffle shop buying their favorite
Atsushi had fruits and Akutagawa had chocolate
They walked to the park, in front of the shop, and took a seat to keep talking about everything in their mind
The adorable part they didn't stop talking
Akutagawa would tell funny stuff
Actually it's Atsushi who sees it funny and Akutagawa is just enjoying the cute expressions Sushi make and the ringing bells he let go when say anything
How he didn't notice this ?
How he didn't notice how cute Atsushi is ?
How he didn't notice how nice Akutagawa is ?
"You'll go to the trip ?"
They were getting well in short time, did he need to bring this topic back ?
Maybe ? And maybe because he didn't want to be alone there ?
"I don't know. After what happen today ..."
"I totally understand you, I guess mine won't let me too"
They definitely won't let them because none of them want their kid with the other
But at some point kids will break the rules and meet
And that's how they both ended up in the bus all the way to the beach
They sat behind each other since no one wanted to sit behind them
Afraid they might bring them troubles
even when they got to their destination everyone walked out without looking back at them
"My poor reputation"
"Why do you need one when you have me ?" Atsushi gave him disbelieving expression before he walk away following their teacher
Their trip -as planned- will be visiting the beach but that doesn't mean they won't be taken somewhere else ...
When they reached the sea they wanted to reach it but-
"Where do you all think you're going ?"
"But Kunikida-Sensei~ ?"
"Don't 'but' me ! We have a schedule to work on, you can't do whatever you want unless we make sure it's safe and we allow you to go"
No one enjoy Kunikida's talk, especially when it's about what they can or can't do
But they were prepared for this literature, with a bucket full of water
"What in the- Hey !" He wanted to run after them but Odasaku stopped him, telling him they are kids after all and rules won't work with them
"You might be right-" He and Oda walked around, keeping an eye on the kids until they caught Akutagawa and Atsushi sitting under an umbrella, with Akutagawa putting sunblock cream for Atsushi, rubbing it slowly on his back while talking about their plans for the rest of the day
"Why aren't you playing with the others in the sea ?" Kunikida wondered but Oda -again- patted his shoulder whispering something in his ears forced his eyebrows to knot with eyes full of concern "Oh I got it, have fun and please don't cause troubles"
They won't. Their relationship got better and stronger after the misunderstanding in school
Atsushi became more open with Akutagawa, he even started to bring him bento just in case he might forget his again
Akutagawa, on the other hand, became nicer and cuter -as Atsushi described him to his parents- he even -meant to- forget the bentos Gin make for him just to eat what Atsushi make for him
He doesn't complain, he's very happy for how they became
Proud of the progress they're making
"So you simply tripped and fall in the water ?"
"Please don't make it as if it's a joke" he mumbled, hiding his face between his hands
He's ashamed he told Akutagawa such stories, it's not something good to tell
To talk about the time you fall from the boat because of the waves isn't nice to be told, especially to your crush
"I'm not making fun of you, I'm just confirming what I heard"
"Still count as making fun of-"
Akutagawa pulled him by his jaws to look him in the eye "I'll never ever dare to make fun of you"
He stared at him disbelieving what he heard "Akutagawa I-"
"Everyone gather !! Food is ready !!"
Atsushi let go of a breath he didn't notice he held and stand on his feet to follow the others but Akutagawa stopped him, to ask him what he wanted but Atsushi brush it away with a wave and a promise to talk about it later
Dinner was sea food -As expected- and Atsushi took care of opening the crabs and lobsters
everyone were amazed by his strength
But he told them it's a technique Dazai taught him so anyone can break it easily
Their day ended -after eating a lot and playing many games- allowing the moon and stars to take the lead and send cold breeze to change everyone's temperature after a long hot day
Akutagawa finished showering and walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist and another one to dry his hair
He searched for Atsushi, who already showered and went to sit in the balcony, he wore his clothes and rushed to go out with him
They're lucky Kunikida let the in a room alone, he was just afraid they might cause troubles with other students but they didn't care about that
They are here, alone, only them
"Jinko ?"
"Can you please stop calling me this ? It's weird"
"To call you Jinko ?" Akutagawa laughed at the glare he received, Atsushi is cute, isn't he ?
He walked to him and wrapped his arms around him, to warm both of them
"I'm happy we can be more than friends" Atsushi mumbled, as it's to himself
he didn't mean to let Akutagawa, who's blushing, hear
He leaned closer until his jaw landed on Jinko's shoulder "I love to call you Jinko because you're like a tiger"
"Oh my God Akutagawa are you-"
"Do you want me to call you Sushi ?"
Silence attacked them, only blushed cheeks and swallowed laugh at Atsushi's reaction
"You- You meant to say that ?!" he punched him
"Ahahaha no I didn't ... I didn't want to call you Sushi because I was afraid you might feel attacked and ... You might push me away"
Atsushi looked back at it, he does remember the time Akutagawa accidently called him Sushi and he ended up pushing him away
but it wasn't from hate, he just wasn't used to this ...
"Well, I'm telling you to call me Sushi" he stare in his shocked eyes "You're now a friend of mine" and mumbled to himself
You are more than friend for me
Akutagawa does hear that one too, that's how Atsushi found himself dragged to bed-
He opened his eyes to find himself between Akutagawa's arms
His ears are behind his heart, hearing every beat, feeling every rise and low in his breath
He's getting sleepy, his eyes started to shut when he got disturbed for a second before he finally shut them and fall in deep sleep
I can always be here when you wake up ...
Those words still ring in his ears, in his dreams, even after he wakes up in the next day
The sun was very warm when it rose, it's strings touched Atsushi's legs, tickling them until he opened his eyes slowly
Looking at the face in front of him, silver eyes stare at him and a warm lopsided smile moving slowly to say 'Good Morning Sunshine'
This must be a dream but this is all real, he doesn't care because this is all warm
He always wanted this and he won't let go-
"Morning~ But can I have five more minutes ?" He said holding Akutagawa tighter, he laughed at him and laughed more when Jinko grumbled
"If you want Kunikida-Sensei to punish us then sure, why not ?"
He pouted when Atsushi glared at him "I don't want my little Sushi to be punished" he booped his nose "So let's hurry up and leave the bed before they come and find us like this"
"Fine"
Their trip back home passed by peacefully -maybe because everyone were still sleepy-
Akutagawa and Atsushi enjoyed the time by listening to some music and checking the photos they want to share in their social media
Everyone returned to their houses ...
Once Atsushi's foot landed in his house's entrance, he ran to his parents with a chest full of moments and memories he wants to share with them as fast as possible
-the same with Akutagawa- Afraid they might get lost if no one else know about them
After they let go of everything their parents asked
What do you think about him ?
Their smile is full of happiness and excitement to meet tomorrow
