Summary:

Robin and Lucina have been accompanied to Rosanne so they can experience the beauty and excitement of the wyvern migration for their honeymoon. But, unbeknownst to their travel guides, there’s one extra passenger on board.

Notes:

Up to this point, I was on time with the Robcina Week prompts. And, as this is my first time participating, I’m quite proud of that! But, now, my future posts for the last three prompts may be later than expected because I will be starting on Day 5...TODAY. So, bear with me. ^^;

But, I am still excited nonetheless! ^_^

Here is Day 4: Honeymoon!

Enjoy! <3

Work Text:

“Just one more loop through here and…done!”

Humming happily, Cherche gently tightened the soft, yellow, floral-patterned ribbon atop Lucina’s head, allowing the younger woman’s hair to stay held in a neat ponytail, “Oh, Lucina, dear, you should wear your hair up more often!”

The princess gave the wyvern lord a shy smile in gratitude before jumping when Minerva shrieked beside them. Cherche, on the other hand, barely even flinched as she smiled over at her beloved wyvern, “You love her hair, too, don’t you Minerva?”

Minerva shrieked once more, causing Lucina to wince with a small smile, knowing the large wyvern perched at the end of their small ship was just expressing her own way of excitement. She was quite familiar to it. Although the blue-haired princess had not known Cherche’s Minerva for very long, she had befriended Gerome’s throughout their childhood up until their adulthood. And, both women watched as the quiet wyvern rider gently stroked his hand along Minerva’s neck.

“How in blazes are you three not covering your ears right now?”

Turning her head, Lucina couldn’t help the small giggle that slipped past her lips at Robin’s look of discomfort as he walked over to the two of them, his hands over his ears. She wasn’t intending to be rude, but it did remind her of the time she had found out how much he disliked frogs, just as much as she hated bugs. Quietly clearing her throat, Lucina replaced her amusement with a sympathetic smile as she stood up from the bench she was sharing with Cherche to walk over to Robin.

Gently, she pulled his hands down, “Relax, dear. Minerva is only preparing your ears for when the migration begins.”

Robin scrunched up his nose at that, ignoring the smirk Cherche was giving him from behind Lucina, “Gods… They make this bloodcurdling sound even while in flight?!”

Lucina frowned before slowly releasing their hands, not realizing how uncomfortable Robin seemed to be around Minerva. Seeing the wyvern migration for their honeymoon sounded like a splendid idea, and at the time of planning, her husband had seemed to be in agreement since he thought it would be a great opportunity to study them. But, perhaps this trip won’t go as smoothly as Lucina would have hoped.

Realizing his wife had fallen quiet, Robin warily looked over at Minerva before mirroring Lucina’s frown. Letting out a quiet sigh, he gently grasped Lucina’s hand before giving it a small squeeze, “I… I’m sorry, Lucina. I’m not upset with you, or…or with Minerva. I have been looking forward to our honeymoon just as much as you have. I just…need some time to adjust. I’m used to horses and pegasi neighing at a frequency my ears can withstand, and not…well…”

“The loving shriek of a wyvern?” Cherche interjected playfully.

Robin huffed at that before he gave Lucina an apologetic look. The princess chuckled quietly at the older woman’s remark before she returned her husband’s smile with a soft one of her own, “I forgive you, Robin. But…”

The silver-haired strategist frowned when his wife suddenly gave him a quiet smirk, “But…?”

Lucina giggled quietly into her other hand as she suddenly pulled Robin forward.

“I think you two should become more acquainted!”

Robin gulped, “Wh-What?”

The princess just smiled up at him as the two approached Gerome and Minerva, with Cherche following behind, “We have some time before the sun is due to set and the migration begins, so you should take this opportunity to get to know her.”

Now feeling apprehensive, Robin glanced behind him to see a very happy Cherche, “My, she’s perfect for you, Robin! I don’t know what Chrom was so worried about…”

Stilling in their footsteps, the newly wed couple turned towards the wyvern lord in confusion.

“Father…was worried? What for?” Lucina questioned softly.

Cherche blushed before giving the two of them a sheepish chuckle, “Oh! He wasn’t really worried, per say. Just that…ahem…w-well…”

“He would like you to remain celibate,” Gerome stated bluntly.

Lucina and Robin’s faces reddened over immensely.

“Gerome!”

The wyvern rider simply shrugged at his mother’s look of disapproval, the mask over his face hiding any emotion he may have had over the matter as he resumed petting Minerva. With a defeated sigh, Cherche gave the other two an apologetic look, “…Because Gerome and myself were to be accompanying you to Wyvern Valley, Chrom asked if I could keep a teeny tiny…eye on you two.”

Lucina hid her face in her hands with a groan while Robin’s entire person became red with embarrassment.

“Th-That… We… N-No…! Wh-What? On…? Pffft—!”

“Oh, Robin… We should just tell them,” the princess mumbled out, not having the courage herself to look back up at Cherche. The older woman was looking at the two of them in concern, although amused by their sudden fluster. Curious himself, Gerome held off on petting Minerva, much to the wyvern’s dismay as she impatiently nudged her nose into his body.

Robin frowned before composing himself as he leaned over to whisper into Lucina’s ear, “What? But, I thought you wanted to wait to tell Chrom first…”

The princess bit her lip, her cheeks still a very bright pink as she poked her head out to look up at him, “Of course I do. But, Father thinks that we haven’t even…y-you know…”

Robin sighed softly before gently pressing a soothing kiss to her hair, “Alright.”

He then looked back over at Cherche and Gerome as he rested a comforting hand on Lucina’s back. The wyvern lord frowned upon noticing their sudden discomfort, worried she may have overstepped on their personal matters. However, before she could apologize, Robin quietly spoke up.

“Er… The um…motion sickness Lucina had been experiencing yesterday morning after we had departed from the port wasn’t actually…motion sickness…”

Gerome and Cherche looked to one another silently before the older woman suddenly let out a quiet gasp.

“Y-You’re… You’re expecting…?” She questioned softly.

Lucina and Robin looked sheepish before giving her hesitant smiles.

Cherche stared at them for a long moment before she let out a sudden, high-pitched squeal as she grabbed Lucina from Robin, “Oh my Gods… You’re pregnant. You’re… You’re pregnant... YOU’RE PREGNANT! Gerome, she’s pregnant!”

“Yes, Moth—Cherche. My ears work just fine,” the wyvern rider spoke quietly before he turned to Lucina and Robin. He watched as his mother finally released the bashful princess, causing her to stumble back into her husband as she gave Cherche a polite smile. Then, his childhood friend looked over at him shyly, along with Robin.

There was no reason for Lucina to be apprehensive of his response, but Gerome understood how his original ideals in regards to time travel and destiny may have made her hesitant. However, he was indeed, incredibly happy for her. She did this, after all. Lucina changed her fate along with his and his mother’s. Gerome was indebted to her. And, this was something she truly deserved. A family of her own.

With a small nod, he gave them both a warm smile, “Congratulations.”

Lucina’s own smile widened at that, glad her long-time friend was happy for her, as well. Then, her and Robin jumped when Cherche excitedly grabbed both of their shoulders, “Oh, Lucina! Did you know that Robin himself had even tried helping me find a mate for Minerva so she could make her own babies? Of course, he was terrible at it, but at least he knew how to select a lovely mate for himself and make one with you!”

“Cherche!” Robin groaned in embarrassment, his entire person red once more as he covered a hand over his face.

Lucina was pink, as well, as she giggled quietly at the older woman’s excitement before she gently rested a hand on Cherche’s arm, “Just…please, don’t tell Father. We had only found out a few days prior to leaving Ylisse last week, but wanted to wait until we returned home to celebrate the news with him.”

Calming down from her excitement, the wyvern lord gave the younger swordswoman an affirmative nod, “Oh, of course, dear. Although, his reaction is sure to be a big one. Poor Chrom… He doesn’t even think the two of you have even consummated! When did it happen?”

“Mother, please…,” Gerome muttered quietly.

Minerva then gave a shriek of her own, seeming to be in agreement.

With a huff, Cherche waved her hand at the two of them, “Oh, alright. I’ll leave them to their privacy….” She then gave the two blushing Shepherds in front of her a kind smile, “I apologize… As a woman and mother myself, this sort of thing is quite exciting.”

Lucina chuckled before giving the wyvern lord a reassuring smile, “It really is... Robin had been quite teary-eyed over it the other night, if you can believe it.”

The silver-haired strategist whined quietly at that, the blush never leaving from his face as he chose to walk away from the two women and over to the ship’s railing. However, he let out a surprised yelp when a loud shriek suddenly broke through the sky above them.

“The wyvern migration has begun!” Cherche exclaimed from behind him before she hurried over to Minerva. The wyvern was already standing on her back legs, her wings spread wide as she shrieked back at the colorful wyverns that began to glide slowly over the horizon. Letting out a fond laugh, Cherche lovingly kissed her large nose before patting her neck, “Go on, girl. Your older self is waiting for you.”

Giving out another excited shriek, Minerva flapped her large wings in preparation before she boosted herself off of their small ship. With a gasp, Lucina stumbled forward as it rocked unsteadily over the water. However, a quick pair of hands caught her as Robin tried keeping his own balance so his wife wouldn’t fall. With a sheepish smile, Lucina looked up at him gratefully before holding on tightly to her husband as he led them back over to the railing.

“I don’t need the two of you falling overboard,” Robin spoke quietly as he briefly glanced down at Lucina’s stomach. Smiling softly, the princess gently nuzzled against him in gratitude as the silver-haired strategist protectively kept his arms around her while holding onto the railing. Then, together, they looked up at the beautiful sunset as they watched Minerva fly over to another wyvern, whose black scales shimmered just as brightly as her own.

Before gasping when two smaller wyverns flew up behind her, followed by a much larger green one that gave a low shriek as it brushed noses with the other Minerva.

“She…has a family,” Gerome spoke quietly in awe as he and Cherche joined the two of them by the railing.

With a fond smile, the older woman placed a gentle hand atop her son’s arm, “All because of you, Gerome. Our old girl is truly free…just like you’ve always wanted.”

The wyvern rider quietly cleared his throat at that, wanting to keep himself from expressing too much of his overwhelming happiness for his old wyvern. Silently, he rested a hand over his mother’s own, content to be by her side as they watched their beloved wyverns gliding side by side together in the evening sky.

Robin and Lucina smiled fondly at mother and son before they looked back towards the horizon as they admired the small wyvern family.

“Do you think our child will be happy in this world?” The princess whispered quietly.

Robin looked down at her, his eyes soft as he pressed a gentle kiss to Lucina’s hair, “I know she will.”

The swordswoman blinked at that before smirking up at the other, “What makes you think they will be a girl?”

Chuckling quietly, the tactician gave his wife a playful shrug before placing a delicate hand over her belly, “I guess you could say it’s a hunch. Also, knowing you, if it’s a boy, you’d most likely name him Chrom. And, as I am still getting used to the fact that my best friend is now my father-in-law… I don’t know if I’m ready for him to be my son, too.”

Lucina stared at him silently for a moment before she suddenly snorted into her hand, “…Pffft, ha ha ha!”

Robin blushed, “Wh-What? I’m being serious! And, you know I’m right!”

The princess simply shook her head with a giggle as she leaned back into his chest.

“Whatever you say, dear… But, for now, let us enjoy our lovely honeymoon.”
