Work Text:
“Tommy quit wasting all the paper. Just say what’s wrong.” Technoblade was very rightfully hit in the face with one of the sofa cushions, immediately getting flipped off by the silent brother.
“Tom’s, You just gotta speak your mind . If you tell us, we can help.” The two idiot twins grinned at him, ducking out the way as another round of pillows was aimed at their heads.
“Boys, stop it. “ Philza Minecraft... His savior!
Tommy held up a piece of paper with a poorly drawn red smiley face on it. Phil smiled back. “Boys, as funny as it is to watch him scribble angrily in red marker, be nice to your brother.”
“Yes Dad.” the two twins said in unison.
“And Mate, I know you hate the idea but It’s time to seriously consider getting your tonsils removed. This is the 3rd time this year.” Phil sighed at the rapid head shakes and the ‘Angry’ piece of paper being waved around.
“This isn’t up for debate, Tommy.”
“Hey Phil, I’d say be reasonable here and let him haVE A SAY IN THIS.”
“Wilbur please shut up.”
“ Yeah, I’m gonna need to agree with Techno on this one. This is the 7th time you’ve used that joke today. Tommy’s probably getting sick of it.”
“ Ayyyy ! Dadza with the puns.”
They rightfully got smacked in the face with the nearest object the gremlin could find. They deserved it honestly, every time he’d lose his voice his family would repeat the jokes for days on end until he finally had the opportunity to yell at them to shut up.
Tommy would usually give them the dreaded silent treatment… But he’d been doing that for a while now. (And not by choice.)
Instead, he crossed his arms and turned away from everyone. Refusing to meet their eyes. Techno noticed first. “Wait, Tommy have you been ignoring us… This whole time?!” Dun dun dun, ah yes. The sarcasm was radiating off of him. Absolutely magnificent. True Technoblade fashion.
All the mute boy could do was huff and continue facing away from the others. Who found it hilarious, but they wanted to see how far this would go.
Phil let out a snort as he went and headed back to his upstairs office. Telling his youngest to ‘Yell if he needed anything.’ If they reused that stupid joke ONE MORE TIME-
“Alright you ugly gremlin, will you forgive us if we promise to tone down the jokes?”
A head shake, no.
“No? Well, how about… If we… Uh… Hmm…” Think Tech, think. “If you stop ignoring us, You can… You can hit Wilbur with pillows for five minutes?”
Tommy paused.
The same with Wilbur who just processed what his twin said. “Hey wait a minute-“
Their brother began to write on one of the pieces of paper he was given. Techno and Wilbur got closer to read what it said.
‘Well, I was going to do that regardless… But if you’d get hit willingly… Deal’
“So glad we could come to an agreement Theseus, go at him with all your strength” As Techno chucked him the densest pillow he could find.
Wilbur decided this was probably the right time to start running. “Nope, Wilbur… A deals a deal. The very legally binding verbal contract stated that he could hit you. And if you’re running away. He might not be able to get you, which… Would make the contract void… So, the only reasonable solution is for you to stand still and accept this”
Somewhere in the middle of Techno's long rambling, Wilbur hadn’t noticed his tiny gremlin brother sneaking up behind him and promptly whacking him on the back with the pillow.
“Damn it! You know it’s much nicer when I can’t hear your insufferable voice. But I miss not being able to tell where you are from a mile away.”
*Whack*
“Hey-“
*Whack*
“WaIT-“
* WHACK*
“GOD DAMN IT TO-“
-
So uh… They got told off by Philza, it was surprising that
he
wasn’t the one who lost his voice from the amount of yelling that came after the Chaos children duo managed to knock over not one, but two vases.
The twins absolutely used this chance to try to pin it on their little brother, knowing he couldn’t say anything back. And how the gremlin ‘randomly’ started hitting Wilbur with the pillow.
Phil could tell that was probably not the case as Tommy didn’t look at all guilty, plus the constant waving off his arms and headshakes, mouthing ‘No’ silently.
Phil sighed.
“Stop it you Three, behave for just a few hours? And Tommy, sit down. You’re not gonna get better if you spend the whole time hitting your brothers. I’m going to let it slide this time because the vases were really ugly gifts and I didn’t have an excuse to get rid of them.” Techno tried to hide his laughter at that.
Dadza returned to his office again, telling them to let him get some work done because he was going out in 5 minutes.
When Tommy looked over to his brothers, he saw them grinning with that… Look in their eyes.
“ Wh’t ?” He croaked out.
“Now that Phil’s going to be leaving, I guess that puts Me and Techno in charge. Since… You know, we’re the oldest.”
Tommy quietly groaned into his hands.
“By the way, no talking.”
“Shu’ up… Technolame..” Techno gasped in mock offense.
Philza Minecraft gracefully exited his office a few minutes later, holding a case that was probably filled with boring work stuff.
“Try not to set the house on fire, again. Tommy’s in charge, Love you, boys. Bye!” And he exited. And then opened the door again a few seconds later to grab his coat and actually leave.
The Twins going silent as the youngest started grinning, victoriously putting his arms in the air.
“Just because you’re in charge doesn’t mean you can make us your servants Tom’s.”
Tommy, in response, rolled his eyes at that. Slipping the Red fluffy blanket he had around his shoulders onto the couch as he got up, and made his way to the kitchen.
God, he was thirsty. He wanted something to drink. Preferably Tea. Phil made the best Lemon and Honey tea, but he’d just left… So he guesses he could make it himself? How hard could making tea be?
The best invention, the Cell phone. He typed into google ‘Honey Tea recipe. He knew that someone else recipe obviously meant it would be different from how his Dad made it, but he just wanted some tea.
His obnoxious brothers felt very keen on following him around everywhere. Poking their heads in the kitchen a minute later.
“What’cha doing Theseus?” He showed the phone to Technoblade, who squinted at it before reading. “Ah, Tea?” A nod. “Get your sick butt on the couch. I’d prefer it if you didn’t contaminate the whole kitchen with your germs.” Taking the phone away to make the tea, he ushed the child out.
Tommy gave him one last death glare before making his way back to the couch. Wilbur followed him. Picking up the red blanket he’d so-untidily discarded on the couch, carefully wrapping it around him.
“M’not a baby Wilb’r…” Wilbur nodded.
“You’re right, you’re a sick child . A sick child who shouldn’t be talking.” He also received a pissed off look, before shivering and pulling the blankets around himself a bit more.
Wilbur hummed, bringing the back of his hand to Tommy’s forehead, who agitatedly moved back. “Quit moving you feral bastard, I’m just trying to make sure you don’t die.” He paused at the concern in his big brother's voice, and begrudgingly quit squirming away to let him feel.
Wilbur let out a small hiss and inhaled slightly. “Yea, that’s… Pretty warm.” He glanced back to the kitchen where his twin was. “Stay there, if you move off the couch, I’ll actually throw you in the lake.” As he disappeared into the other room.
Techno noticed something was off as Wilbur started rummaging through the ‘Medical Cabnit’ for something, sighing when he couldn’t find it.
“What’s the thing you’re looking for this time? Phil moved some of the stuff around after last time.” Last time being when the youngest wasn’t tall enough to reach some of the very important medical supplies and left a very permanent blood-stain in the carpet.
“Thermometer.”
Techno met his brother's eyes for a minute, Their brother always did run pretty high so that was something they’d need to keep an eye on.
“Top right cabinet, behind the bowl.”
Wilbur nodded and then yelled as he saw a massive spider. His twin instantly started laughing, bending over to breathe.
“You dickhead!”
“I’m- I’m sorry. I heard you- *Snrk* I heard you coming talking to Tommy and I just had to.”
“God, I’m going to need the medical supplies for that heart attack you just gave me!”
Techno was laughing even harder, the ‘Massive Spider’ had sparkly googlie eyes on it. And his brother still screamed.
“Yeah yeah you massive dick, just give me the damn thermometer.”
Techno’s laughter finally died down as he pointed to the left cabinet. “Okay, okay. It’s right in there.”
Wilbur screamed again at the snake he saw inside.
“OH FUCK YOU-”
-
Wilbur very pissed off, returned back to the living room. Holding a wet flannel (That he hit Techno with multiple times) and the thermometer.
“Did Tech st’b you or somethin’, why were you screamin’ so loud...?” The Blade snorted quietly from the kitchen, trying not to laugh aloud. Tommy clearly wasn’t as concerned as he thought he would be, as he was grinning slightly.
“He’d just a dick. And so are you for disobeying me and talking. But… Anywayyy.” He plopped the cold flannel on his brother's head who instantly shivered and brought his hand up to take it off.
“F’ck! That’s c-cold.” Wilbur put it back on his forehead.
“Keep it on, and for the love of God. Can’t you shut up for five minutes?” Tommy crossed his arms at that, at least he’d stop moving the flannel off his head.
Wilbur took this moment of him being distracted to shove the thermometer in his mouth. Who gagged at it being shoved practically in the back of his throat. Coughing into his elbow.
“Sorry, sorry . Just put it under your tongue.” Whoops.
Will turned the digital thermometer on and just sat and wait. It would only be 30 seconds.
Tommy sunk back into the couch a bit, he just wanted his stupid throat to stop hurting. It had been 3 times this year that he’d lost his voice, and it didn’t get any funner each time. If anything it just hurt worse. He didn’t want a stupid surgery… He didn’t want doctors to… Put needles in him and steal his skin, or whatever they did.
Why the fuck did TONSILITIS, ‘T o n s i l’ the thing in his throat make his ears ache and head spin so bad?
*BEEP*
“Yoink!” Wilbur took the small device from him before he could look for himself. Knowing he’d try not to make as big of a deal of it, however high it was.
102.4 F
Hmm.. That wasn’t the best, but at least it wasn’t immediately concerning. They’d be able to probably bring it down if they did it right.
“Alright, one thing for starters, the blankets are gonna need to go. And no arguing with me on this, not that you can anyway.” He was right, he couldn’t argue. But he could whine.
Which he did, and flinched at the sharp feeling it caused.
Wilbur sighed as he pulled the blanket away from him. Tommy went back to shivering, a little worse than before.
“Alright, I’m sorry. But having a thick fluffy blanket’s only going to make your fever worse. Though I can go get that nice warm Tea Techno’s making from the kitchen, how about that?”
…
He nodded, he’d like that. His throat felt so dry.
Wilbur left.
-
“Tech? It’s been like… 15 minutes. Surely tea doesn’t take that long. And you can’t exactly burn the tea. Wait can you? Did you burn it or something?”
Techno huffed.
“No I didn’t burn the damn Tea, this site is confusing. And it told an 8th paragraph story on the history of how their grandma made it in the 1900s or something.”
“So skip it?”
“I read all of it.”
Wilbur looked at his twin in disbelief. “And? It’s Lemon Honey tea. There’s like… 3 things in it.”
“Yea, I got distracted. And I don’t know where the tea bags are.”
“You coincidentally know where all the medical stuff is, and that Phil had moved those specific things, but not where some tea bags are?”
“Yup.”
…
“Did you check the tin that said ‘TEA’ on it…?”
“Ah. ”
Wilbur sighed. “I’ll make it.”
-
One tea preparation later, and they were 90% sure they put more Lemon than Honey, but it looked fine. “Okay, well I’ll go bring this to Tommy.”
“Hey wait a minute Techno, I made it. I’ll bring it to him.”
“No, wait. You didn’t fully make it, you slightly helped. Plus I’m already holding it. So I’ll take it to him.” His twin cackled.
“Oh no, Techno. I don’t think you’re understanding me here. I’m taking it to him.” As he placed a tight grip on the arm Techno was holding the tea with.
“Ohhoho, I understand you plenty Wilbur, however… I’ve already made up my mind.” Using his free hand to try to push his twin's grip off of him.
Oh if Wilbur wanted to fight, he’d give him a fight. Technoblade didn’t want to put the tea down, knowing Wilbur would just take it from him, but he also didn’t want to fight his twin with burning hot tea. But damn it, if he had to, he would.
“Just let me take the tea to him! I’m the favorite anyway!”
“Stop it Wilbur- And hey, that’s not true.”
Tommy’s ‘Favourite brother’ tried to pull the cup directly from his brother's hands, who tried to pull it back. Were they fighting over who gave tea to their sick little brother? Yes, and what about it?
They both battled over the cup intensely before Wilbur used his foot to swipe at Techno’s feet, tripping him, and taking the cup with him.
The sound of glass shattering rang through the house.
“Shit, sorry. Are you okay…?” Wilbur stepped back, carefully avoiding the cup's shards.
“Yeah, fine. Next time quit being such a baby and let don’t attack me while I’m carrying a hot beverage…?” Techno himself stepped back. They were lucky really. The cup had shattered a bit away from them after it had slipped from his fingers. The worst it was going to do was leave an ugly stain next to the old blood-stain. They doubted it would go unnoticed, but it was worth a shot.
Tommy had heard the sound of something shattering and got up from the couch. Carefully and slowly making his way to the kitchen. “Wh’ H’pnn’d?” He croaked, barely audible.
Wilbur instantly told him not to enter, as there was glass on the floor. “Wh..? Wh’t smashed…?”
Techno responded for him. “Wilbur was being a dumbass and wouldn’t let me bring the drink to you. So now he’s going to clean it up while I figure out how to make tea.”
Tommy shuffled in, minding the remains of one of the nicer cups as he walked around. “I’ll do it, I know h’w I like it an’ way. Th’ks for trying though..’ The older brother wasn’t having it.
“No, go back to the couch, I alread told you, I’ll make you a new one, okay Theseus?” A head shake, no. “No? It doesn’t seem like you have much of a choice here.”
The gremlin crossed his arms, keen on not moving. He stood still, besides the shaking of course. Techno sighed. “You’re not going to change your mind on this?” Another head shake no. He sighed.
“Alright, here’s what we’re going to do. Since I don’t want you getting your gross child-hands on everything, or speak. You’re going to behave and watch me make it. No talking, got it? Just nod when you want me to stop. Fair?” A hesitant nod. “Glad we could agree.”
Wilbur moped as he cleared up the mess he caused, as he watched his brothers make tea without him. Getting the slightest bit jealous when Technoblade took the now-dry flannel from Tommy’s head to replace it with a cooler one. He was meant to be looking after Tommy. Not Technolame.
They’d finished what looked like a decently made cup of Lemon Honey tea and headed back to the living room, the broken cup long being thrown away.
Once Wilbur had mostly gotten the Sticky Honey feel out of the carpet, he headed to the couch where Techno and Tommy were ‘talking’. Mostly just The Blade asking him stuff and the blonde nodding in agreement.
“Sooo, what are you both discussing?” The Brown-haired child asked as he sat in between them both.
“Ah, I was just asking Tommy what he’s going to tell Philza when he gets back.”
Huh?
Oh.
“You mean the surgery?” Tommy looked away at the mention, and Will received a semi-annoyed look from his twin.
“Yeah, that. I mean, we’ve been here… How many times was it again?” The youngest held up 3 fingers, still looking to the side. “Right, three times. And that’s only counting since this year started. I think Phil might’ve made up his mind.” The youngest sat silently. “But yeah, It’s not going to be scary Tommy.”
Techno nudged his twin brother, trying to get him to say something while the silent child was still facing away.
“Oh, yeah. You’ve been to the Hospital before.” He felt a small kick to his knee, right. Tommy didn’t like hospitals. “But I promise ya Tom’s, you won’t even feel it. Plus… You won’t lose your voice as much. So you can go back to screaming your heart out.” Tommy looked back, clearly thinking it through.
“Also, Two weeks off of school and literally an infinite supply of ice cream.” They decided to only list the pros of it, for now, explaining the after-effects of the surrey to someone who was already not the biggest fan of them would be like mining diamonds with a hoe, stupid.
The hoarse reply came, “Al’ri’ I’ll do it..”
They also decided not to mention that even if he said no, he’d be getting the surgery anyway.
Tommy leaned into Wilburs side, who was happy to have it. Techno grabbed the remote from the table and switched it on, looking through a few channels before deciding to hand it to Tommy, who handed it to Wilbur.
Dear God, Techno blamed it on the delirium, because if Tommy wasn’t sick, there was no way he would’ve done that. Wilbur always picked the worst shows. FOR NOTCH’S SAKE. HE CAUGHT HIS TWIN WATCHING A JAGUAR DOCUMENTARY PURELY FOR THE HUNTING OF THE ANTEATERS.
Wilbur wasn’t sure which movie to put on, so he considered putting Upon. He knew his little brother loved it, but he was 90% sure that Techno may actually stab him.
…
Oh well, getting stabbed would be worth it.
-
Wilbur’s knee’s hurt from the amount of non-secret kicking he’d received throughout the entirety of the Disney film. He’d stop hiding it about halfway, and Tommy didn’t feel like using his voice to speak up about it. Instead, throughout the duration of the movie, he’d quit leaning over just Wilbur. By the end, he was laying (Asleep) across both of the twins.
They didn’t mind.
Tommy’s head was resting on Techno’s knees, so The blade carefully ran his fingers through his hair. It was a little hard, minding the wet flannel, but he managed it. Tommy’s hair felt warm from the fever, he didn’t know what it was previously at so he motioned for his twin to grab it for him.
Wilbur passed it to him, as it was only to his right, and Techno did what he thought was one of the most adrenaline-rushing things he’d done that week. Slipping it under his tongue and turning it on, he held it for him, not to wake him.
He mentally cheered himself on when he managed to take it out without his brother waking up, knowing he was much more of a lighter sleeper when sick. He peered down at it, nudging Wilburs shoulder as he tried to look too.
102.7
He looked to his twin, judging by his expression, it probably went up. “What was it at before?”
The reply came nervously. “102.4”
Well, shit. It had been a little over an hour since it was last checked, so it had probably gone up when they were walking around the kitchen. But nooo, Techno had to listen to the stubborn child saying he was fine.
“Well, Wilbur… Can you replace the flannel? He’s practically on top of me and if I do it, he’s going to end up waking up.” Wilbur sighed, knowing what he had to do. Carefully lifting his legs to the side to sneak out and bending over to grab the almost-dry cloth.
On his way into the kitchen, he stepped in the tea stain he neglectfully didn’t clean fully. Cringing when it sank into his socks, gross. He guessed that was karma for not doing it. Oh well, he’d run the tap making sure it was only slightly cold. Since even he could admit it was borderline freezing before.
He turned it off and looked around. Opening the lower cabinet, he found just what he was looking for. The ‘Sick’ blanket, it was kind of a gross idea, to be honest. But at least it got cleaned constantly.
It was useful too. It was thin enough that it wasn’t dangerous, but it was fluffy enough that anyone, sick or not, would melt at the feeling.
He thought, hmm. Maybe he’d give Tommy some ice cream when he wakes up later.
Bringing the two things he was carrying back to the couch, he gently put the wet flannel onto Tommy’s head, who tried to sleepily shake it off. Techno held it in place with his hand, as his little brother slowly stopped trying to squirm away from it.
He was still shivering though, so Wilbur unfolded the thin blanket, making it as large as it could be before draping it over his two brothers, and then himself as he snuggled back into the pile.
They all stayed snuggled into the pile as the twins soon started to fall asleep, they couldn’t go anywhere anyway. So they succumbed to being trapped underneath their sleepy little brother.
-
Phil entered a few hours later, expecting utter chaos when he opened the door. Instead, he was met with silence. Which would have horrified him, if he didn’t hear the loud snoring from his eldest boys.
Oh, he absolutely made sure to take photos of this.
He smiled, his boys had done well.
He jumped quite a bit when he heard a voice among them. “H’y Dad!” his youngest whispered.
“Hey, Mate. How you feelin’?” He whispered back.
“L’ke absolute dogshit.” Phil snorted at that.
“Yeah, you sound like it too. Tom’s, I’m gonna need to talk to you about something in a bit. When you’re not trapped by your brothers, of course.”
Tommy nodded, he was going to attempt to sneak off of his brothers, but one of his brother's arms pulling him closer stopped him.
He shifted again for a second hand to pull him closer, the gremlin sighed. “Who is it” he hoarsely spoke to his Dad.
“Yeah, tough luck getting out of that one, mate. Both of they've got ya. You’re just going to have to accept it” His own father betrayed him as he walked past him and to the kitchen.
…
“WHO SPILT TEA ON THE CARPET?!”
-
So Tommy didn’t end up having to wait another few hours before his brothers would have woken up. Phil’s scary voice did that for him. Needless to say, he didn’t like the rough exit onto the floor as Techno and Wilbur jumped up.
“Whoops- Uh, Sorry Theseus!” Bending down to give his brother an arm up. Both of the twins got a glare in return. “M’ not ev’n mad at that, th’s is pity forg’veness ‘cause Phil’s gonna’ be much worse.”
The two eldest siblings gulped as they left the couch.
Tommy decided to wrap the comfy thin blanket around himself and peer droopy-eyed from over the couch, hey. He was sick and bored, the two worst combinations. He at least wanted to watch this go down.
He grinned in amusement as Techo and Wilbur instantly started blaming each other. Who would be victorious, find out next time on-
“Wilbur Soot.”
Oh.
Dear Notch, not the dreaded last name.
“Technoblade Watson.”
Tommy slightly lowered himself on the couch, hoping he’d be safe.
“Tommy.”
Uhoh.
At least Phil didn’t say his last name, that was something… Right?
Philza pointed to the opposite side of the room, them all understanding he wanted them to go over there.
Tommy untangled himself from the mountain of blankets he was previously bundled in, slipping them off of himself. Not liking how cold he felt, but he sucked it up and followed his brothers and stood together.
Phil took a deep breath.
“Okay, Boys. Which one of you did this? I’m not mad, I just wanna know.” Oh, he was lying through his teeth right now.
“Wilbur did it,” Techno stated.
“Wilbur?”
“In my defense, it was entirely Techno’s fault.”
“Hey wait a minute-”
Tommy sighed.
As he brought his hands up to his ears, one to calm the slight ringing, and two, so he wouldn’t need to listen to his brothers stupidly argue.
He kind of zoned out somewhere between the arguments. All he knew was his brothers were gone and Phil was with him.
They went back to that stupid couch, god. How long was he going to be here for?
“God, I’m glad we could get that sorted. And while they’re cleaning that up, It’s time we had that talk Mate.”
He nodded.
“So about the surgery… I know you seemed pretty angst this morning, and I realized I may have been a bit… ‘Scary’ and wanted to talk to you about it and what would happen.”
“Techno ‘nd W’lbur already t’lked to me ‘bout it earlier, I’ll do it..” he croaked, voice slightly cracking in between.
Phil looked extremely surprised, clearly doing a horrible job at hiding his expression. “Oh, uh… Okay then. They probably already told you, but you’ll be just fine, and you won’t even feel it.”
“I know.”
“Okay Mr, I was scared half-to-death this morning. I’ll call up the Hospital and see when they can schedule it, okay?” He nodded. “Good, now… You feeling up to some ice cream?”
Another nod, more excited this time.
He god his hair ruffled and felt something get removed from on top of his head. “I’ll replace this for you too, yeah?”
And Dadza was now in the kitchen.
“Hey Tommy, want to watch Up later Mate?”
The chorus of ‘No’s!’ from Techno and Wilbur was answer enough.
-
So… Philza had called up the Hospital two weeks ago.
It had now passed two weeks.
Meaning…
“Are you absolutely sure they can’t… Reschedule… Or you know, flat out cancel the surgery…?”
Wilbur and Techno groaned.
“That’s like… The eighth time this week you’ve said that. You agreed two weeks ago, Theseus.”
“ Well… YEAH , that’s when it was still two whole weeks away! Plus… Uh… You've never had yours out!”
“Yeah Tom’s, but we don’t get sick literally every other week, do we?” Tommy crossed his arms and mumbled something about how unfair this was.
“Welp Mate, either do it at the Hospital or… We could do it ourselves?” His tone was surely joking, Right? Tommy didn’t exactly want to find out.
“Mate, It’s a joke. But brush your teeth, we’re leaving in half an hour.” Oh Notch, Oh Notch, Oh Notch. He really didn’t want to do thissss.
He was originally going to plan to do everything as slow as possible, to stall time… But he knew when it was time to leave, they would drag him if they needed to.
Why did he agree to this. He pretended as if even if he said no, it would’ve changed anything.
He also wasn’t too thrilled when he learned he’d lose his recently-gained voice back for a while, a short while… But he’d still be losing it.
The way he learned some of the cons was by doing something Wilbur had told him not to do.
Googling symptoms.
Of course, Google told him everything dangerous and that could go wrong, and he read it. He didn’t say anything of course, but he knew.
God, he almost cried when he realized he wouldn’t be able to drink Cola for a few weeks after.
He finished brushing his teeth, spitting into the sink, and grabbing the blue mouthwash. He gargled it for a moment before spitting that out too.
Welp, Goodbye working voice of his. As he headed down the stairs, (Not) ready to leave.
“Are you ready, Mate?”
He nodded.
“Don’t go silent yet Theseus, we haven’t even left the house!” He snorted as he put his arm on his little brother's back and ushered him towards the front door.
Tommy was pretty silent for most of the car ride before Wilbur spoke up. “Jeez, I thought you’d want to get the last out of your voice before you go back to SilentInnit .”
“I’m just 100% not at all looking forward to this.”
Wilbur let out an Aww, and so did Techno (Sarcastically)
The Chaos child opted to close his eyes because he was becoming familiar with the surroundings. It was that weird thing you could do where you were in the car, and even with your eyes closed, you knew exactly where you were by how many times they’d been here.
Techno’s hand had stopped brushing through his hair at the same time the car slowed.
Well, he knew what that meant.
He opened his eyes to see if it was true, and yeah… They were here.
Welp, he couldn’t run now…
He tried to walk slowly as they entered the Hospital, hoping to take as much time as possible, now that they were there.
Phil seemed to notice, not saying anything. Only putting his arm behind his youngest back to sort of… Give him a push
Wilbur and Techno didn’t like hospitals, it being clear on their faces. If someone first glanced at them, they’d assume the twins were sick based on how disgusted they looked being there.
The three sons went to the waiting chairs as Phil spoke to the receptionist, probably making sure he had it right. Him and his old-man brain.
The two oldest brothers distracted Tommy, tons of mentions of all the ice cream he could have afterward and how they could watch whatever movie he wanted. (Except for Up, but they didn’t mention that.)
Why was it always when you showed up early, or on time… You still had to wait like an hour, but if you show up two minutes late-
Needless to say, they may have lied about the time, they arrived early-early in case Tommy did find a way to bring chaos and avoid the visit.
47 minutes exactly and the doctor finally appeared. Techno sighed in relief, these chairs were not comfortable at all.
As they walked through the hospital halls, they were lead to another hallway after another. Finally, Techno and Wilbur were asked to wait outside as Phil and Tommy entered the hospital room.
Once the doors closed...
“Bet you £5 he screams before they put him under.”
“Oh, you’re on. ”
-
The doctors explained what would happen with far too much detail than he would’ve to hear. She said the same things that his brothers and dad had been saying. He was just glad he wouldn’t be awake for it, he’s been awake for surgerys before and he can thoroughly say. He absolutely hated the numb feeling of stuff poking around in his mouth, even if it didn’t hurt.
Once everything had been explained, Phil and Tommy left the room.
Philza, Wilbur, and Techno were told they couldn’t be in the room while the surgery was happening. Tommy absolutely despised hearing that. They were lead to one last Hallway before Tommy was going to disappear into one of the minor surgery rooms.
All three of them saying something encouraging along the lines of, ‘See you soon Theseus’ and whatnot.
Well, Tommy was now on the surgery table. And there was a weird mask thing next to him. The one’s he'd seen in movies where people can’t breathe a nd they’re dying and-
“First time going under?”
He nodded.
“I know this all looks scary, but this is a simple procedure, honestly. It’ll be over before you can count to twenty.”
He was mentally counting already.
He decided to make some small talk, feeling a little awkward about being so silent.
“Can I keep them in a jar?” He joked.
“Actually, yes! We’ll need to take a small amount for your hospital records, but the rest is all yours, kid.” Not a kid, but woah… Cool.
She continued. “Alrighty, would you be able to keep this mask on your face?” It was an oxygen mask, right. He knew this. He slipped it on and would’ve been concerned about how loose it felt, before the kind doctor tightened it securely on him.
“Great! Now, about what I said about it being over before you could count to twenty…” She pressed something on the machinery. “Why don’t you go ahead and try that for me?”
That sounded stupid.
Of course, he could do that.
“One… Two… Three… Fo ur… Five… Six… Seven…” Did he feel this tired a second ago…? Eight... Nine… Ten… Ele-
The doctor chuckled, the kid couldn’t even make it to ten.

God… How long was he asleep for? It felt like he’d hit snooze on an alarm and fell back asleep only to be re-awakened 5 minutes later.
His sight took a few seconds to focus on his surroundings and catch up, jeez. It felt like someone burned the back of his throat with a lighter.
He realized the same Doctor from before was in front of him, who seemed to pick up on that he was awake.
“Welcome back. The surgery’s all done!” Wait… That was it? His throat felt like shit but… It was just… Over?
“Your throat probably feels like it’s killing you right now, don’t worry. We’ll give you some nice pain meds so you’ll be able to relax and eat all the ice cream your heart desires.” He liked the sound of that!
He smiled at the Doctor, who kindly smiled back. He attempted to say “Thank You” but his voice was pretty much non-existent.
“You’re welcome, Tommy. Do you want to go see your brothers? They’ve been talking about you the whole time. Mostly making bets, if I’m being truthful.” He let out a small paned-chuckle at that. Of course. He couldn’t wait to see what his brothers would owe to each other.
They were… Extremely excited to see him, he knew what they were doing. He didn’t know what the bets were about… But he knew it had something to do with that.
“Who lost the bet?” He croaked, the kind Doctor playfully ‘scolded’ him for speaking.
Techno frowned in defeat. “I bet a Fiver you would scream before the surgery even started, this is your fault you gremlin.”
The Doctor seemed to remember something as she quickly returned to the room, as she grabbed a small clear medical jar.
“Is that…-” Phil started.
“I TOLD you Techno! Pay up.”
Techno sighed, “15 you gremlin. You cost me £15, you small traitor!” Phil gently tapped him on the back of the head, getting an overdramatic ‘Oww’.
Oh, Tommy was absolutely grinning. This was so epic.
Tonsils in a Jar what will he do-
Phil and the Doctor had to speak about a few things before they were officially discharged, side effects… Things to look out for…
Wilbur took an extremely dramatic far step away from his little brother as the Doctor listed some of the things.
“You have really funny kids Mr. Watson.” He chuckled.
“I know.”

Arriving home was so much nicer… Wilbur saw this day as an absolute victory.
He had earned £15, and Tommy was dozing off into his side!
“Well… Anyone up for ice cream?”
Okay, now the day was perfect.
All four of the Sleepy boys sat together on the couch, enjoying their strawberry frozen dessert.
“Wanna watch Up, Mate?” A nod.
Well… Almost perfect.
Getting up to take his empty bowl to the kitchen, he went to grab a blanket from the cupboard and promptly screamed at the fake rats.
“GOD DAMN IT TECHNO!”
