Work Text:
She was never the most devoted, but now it would be a miracle if she ever showed up. Dipper and Mabel were raised in a quite strict and Christian household. And Dipper been the more responsible took it to himself to follow and practice the word. Mabel did follow on her way, but discussions abrupt at the dinner table. The little girl of the house, with the most colorful prayers, was lost. There was a limit to how much one can force anyone, conflict after conflict they left it untouched. It was too much, and none were trying anymore. So now, she ate upstairs, with the music low, not to bother. They simply put the problem under the rub.
She was now the bad kid, Dipper that was more complicit was the good one. A thing that never sat well with him. But he did have hope in her. She will come back. But time pass and things didn’t change more and more it looked like that was the new normal.
As that she now lived in her little world outside of the rest in the house, the parents kept their rules, and dipper was made the bridge. He wasn’t made to be a mediator, so much of him only wanted nothing with all that. But he was scared, Mabel, she needed him, and nothing would make him abandon her. So he was the bridge.
After one of his travels on her side. It was just a simple treat of dinner. Like every night he went after the prayer. It seems like any other day but when he got to her room he saw his sister and the dangerous amount of clothes.
“So sorry, Mabel,” he said while covering his eyes with his free hand. “I will leave it here”
And so he did. After his best to avoid an awkward situation he turned his back and went to eat his dinner. But if he would have dared to look back, he would notice a bright smile on her face. How she saw him get out and how he went away, the reason for her new faith.
